  1. Maybe it has already demonstrated what the promoters expected it to demonstrate? That the fans are worse at organising a booze-up in a brewery than the promoters ever could be?
  2. We've got to accept that half the crowd are loose? Does this come with an English translation?
  3. What is there to be offended about? If you want to help your club, you can. If you don't want to help, you don't have to. If you've got some time to spare, you might be able to help. If you haven't got spare time, no one is forcing you, or penalising you for not helping. Lots of clubs, societies, sports teams, theatres, churches, schools, scouts etc etc rely on volunteer help. Whether its helping paint the changing rooms of your local football team or speedway team, helping out at the kids' school sports day, donating costumes to the local theatre amateur dramatic society, making chutney for the church jamboree, or organising the Rotary Club annual dance, the world might be a better place if more people gave up a few hours of their time to get out and help an organisation close to their heart rather than sitting at home behind a keyboard moaning and being unnecessarily offended by everything.
  4. His typical behaviour. He posts something incredibly stupid in an attempt at trolling. Then when the trolling attempt fails massively, he makes up some other nonsense and edits a post pretending he had made a mistake. He usually does it on threads he started, so that once he's made a fool of himself he can delete the thread. But he didn't start this one, so all he can do is pretend his trolling was an error Very sad.
  5. I don't understand the joke. Why is "Supporter" lying to "Enthusiast" about where teams race? Why is he sending him to Birmingham to watch IOW instead of telling him where the IOW track is?
  6. You'd need a Delorean with a flux capacitor to fit into the 2018 King's Lynn team now Josh, but nice of you to reopen this King's Lynn 2018 thread to offer your services on a Sunday night in February 2019.
  7. So apart from this chap who won the world championship https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Björn_Knutsson , there isn't another different rider with a similar name which differs by just one letter as we are looking for on this thread?
  8. There's always been spelling mistakes in programmes, but this thread is about finding any 2 riders who had similar names which differed only by one letter.
  9. Was there ever a rider called Bjorn Knutson? I'm not aware of one. Obviously Bjorn Knutsson was the world champion.
  10. It isn't. It's very much a last resort. If you're declared bankrupt your bank accouts are frozen, you can't get credit or take out loans. You can't act as a director of a company and you can't even manage a company without telling everyone you deal with about your banruptcy. A bankrupt is usually released after a year, but it still stays on records for 6 years, so even after a year, a bankrupt will still have problems getting a bank account, getting loans, credit, even taking out insurance.
  11. erm...isn't that 7 letters difference? If we're allowing 7 letters difference you could put Paul Fry or Ben Howe with absolutely anyone!
  12. I've got a good one Dave Baugh (Bradford early 70s) and Dave Bargh.
  13. A Youngster who did a dozen or more meetings for Newcastle in 1979/80, Paul Brown is just one letter and a slight rearrangement away from Paul Bowen.
  14. Steve Bass of Long Eaton (1970-73) and Steve Bast the less successful of a couple of 70s American brothers
  15. Bit of an easy one, but didn't Jon Cook have a short unspectacular career at Eastbourne? One letter away from the rather more successful John Cook
  16. Wally Hill rode for Mildenhall throughout 1984 http://speedwayresearcher.org.uk/mildenhall1984.pdf One letter away from Wally Hull of 1940s Belle Vue
  17. One letter different after rearranging the letters slightly..... Jens Rasmussen and Rasmus Jensen.
  18. As well as the more well known Mike Spink of the late 70s and 80s, there was also Mike Spinks who rode for Boston, Crayford and Peterborough
  19. Probably an interest he should take much further. p.s. Finding 2 riders with names with just one letter difference is proving much harder than finding riders with the same name.
  20. What's flat-track? Is it like Stock cars but not as good?
  21. Where do we start? Have you ever heard of Speedway racing?
  22. How about Tom Perry and Dom Perry (Most famous from the "your favourite irish riders" thread )
  23. I would guess Clydesdale bank is the new leaseholder of the stadium. Warren Scott seems to have resigned all his directorships of various companies, and a Robert Scott has been appointed as a director instead. Warren Scott is still showing as the main (sole) shareholder of Carter & Bailey Ltd, which I believe is Rye House Speedway, but Clydesdale Bank have a fixed and floating charge over the whole of the property, assets and rights of the company.
