One team place at Buxton still to be announced...
-
As far as I know, the change for this year is that you are disqualified if any part of the rider, his bike, or his equipment touches the tapes.
-
A friend and near namesake of Byron Bekker maybe?
-
Maybe you should have looked on the morons who run Specsavers website then? Max has been showing in Rye House's team on the BSPA site since the day Rye House announced they had signed him.
-
No there wasn't. Lakeside got Max's average correct. Lakeside got Wajtknecht and Morley's averages wrong. That's why the Lakeside 7 didn't fit. Max got the mucky end of the stick when Lakeside kicked him out so that they could still accommodate Wajtknecht and Morley on their proper averages.
-
He's at Rye House in PL
-
We're talking about Stoke not Buxton.
-
8.25 was Perks' 2016 NL average. He didn't ride NL in 2017. As he hasn't got a 2017 NL average, but does have a 2017 CL average, I would assume he would have an NL average of 2 x his CL. = 10.16?
-
Don't think Greaves, Clegg or Williamson are eligible as they have places in a higher league and a CL average above 4.00. Perks has a CL average of 5.08, (presumably 10.16 in NL, so he wouldn't fit) But even if he did fit, if he later signed for a CL team he'd have to quit the NL, I believe. People like Perry, Mountain, Knight would seem to be available choices, but they've always been available, and yet Stoke signed Chessell in preference to them. That suggests that those riders maybe don't want to ride at Stoke or Stoke can't afford them.
-
Perhaps you're new to the sport, since you don't know. If you'd been around a while you'd know it was a crap idea.

Can't believe this same stupid comment keeps coming up! How many times have we all debunked this nonsense? To repeat again. The average system offers 100 individual grades for every point of the average, and is as flexible as it can be! Using your daft grades, a rider with a 6.01 average is totally unemployable. Why would anyone want a 6.01 rider when they could use a 7.99 in the same place? Similarly, a 5.99 rider is in massive demand. He's much better value than a 4.01 rider in the same spot. So we have Mr 6.01 unemployable, and Mr 5.99 (who is of equal ability) in massive demand. There are 11 NL teams, and 77 places. There are only ever going to be 77 places, and bringing in a barmy system which would give totally unequal teams will not change that. Please can no one ever repeat this stupid idea ever again?

Every speedway fan needs to get their objections emailed in. Even if it's just a one paragraph email saying that you strongly object to the plans and urge the planning officer to recommend refusal. Don't forget to include your full name and address and application number R18/0186, otherwise they'll ignore it. If you live in the Coventry area, your objections are doubly valuable. So if you've got friends, neighbours, relations with a Coventry address, get an objection sent from them too.

If you want to gullibly believe what Brandon Estates and Horton are telling you, that's your business. Some of us can see through it. Have a read back on this thread and see where I, and others, predicted that Brandon Estates would claim that Brandon Stadium isn't now needed because the Bees are re-homed at Leicester, and see how that prediction came true exactly as we all said.
-
Translation "The terms of the bribe from Brandon Estates say that I must not make any negative comments about the planning application to knock Brandon down. My focus must be on successfully moving the Bees to Leicester to help show that Brandon Stadium isn't needed (as they have already said in the planning application)"
-
Buxton naming another signing tonight. Expected to be Ryan Burton. Them someone like Carl Basford to complete the team.
-
Absolutely. It's what many of us have been saying. Brandon Estates are paying off Horton to go to Leicester and then they can say... "Look. They're perfectly happy at Leicester now. Leicester is much better for speedway and Coventry are settled in there now. They don't need Brandon anymore. Let us knock it down and build houses" And look. There it is in Black & White from them, saying exactly that!! Allow Coventry to be shunted off to Leicester and it will never return to Coventry.
-
Who's blaming fans? Your post is ridiculous.
-
Quite the opposite. Those hoisting the white flag and saying "Yes sir, we'll meekly shuffle off to Leicester and not cause any trouble for Brandon Estates" are the ones who are signing the death warrant for Brandon Stadium. They'll have plenty of time as the bulldozers and houses move in to say "I wish we'd put up a fight and not allowed Coventry Speedway to die". The only chance to save Coventry is to say "We won't be shunted off to Leicester. Coventry speedway belongs in Coventry". Make enough fuss so that the council daren't allow a change of use for the Coventry Stadium land, or at least force an agreement for a new stadium to be built before a change of use is granted. Maybe those fighting for Brandon won't win in the end, but at least they will be able to say "I tried, and I wasn't a Leicester quitter"

So the Premiership Shield is reverting back to its proper old format this year of League Champions v KO Cup winners, instead of the recent silly format of League Champions v Poole. But one odd thing is that it's now listed in the fixtures as "Charity Shield" Now didn't the FA have to change the name of the equivalent football competition from "Charity Shield" to "Community Shield" because the total gate receipts weren't going to charity and therefore they weren't allowed to bill it as a charity event? I'm guessing the gate receipts from Belle Vue and Swindon aren't all going to charity, so could the BSPA be in trouble for using the "charity" tag?

Yes, I would imagine the BV phone has been ringing non-stop. I agree that Connor Mountain would benefit from another NL season, but when Mildenhall chose Bailey and Ayres above Mountain. I presumed it was his own choice to not do NL. Apparently not and he's still looking for a place. The other one that surprises me is that Eastbourne went for Baseby ahead of Jake Knight, who also doesn't have a NL team (Unless he's been on to BV too).
-
Heard a rumour that Connor Mountain had been in contact with Belle Vue very recently about a NL team place. Seems he's said he's willing to travel any distance for an NL ride...
-
That's got to be the daftest argument I've ever read on any forum. "The Belle Vue riders were bound to score more points because they were riding for the winning team"??? Isn't it more the case that Belle Vue were the winning team because their riders scored more points? Isn't that how sport usually works?
-
The thing is, most people can see through the (alleged) bribe from Brandon Estates to shunt Coventry off to Leicester. And most people see Horton conspiring with the enemy by taking the (alleged) bribe. Once Coventry race at Leicester, Brandon Estates can say to the council "Look they're happily re-homed at Leicester. They don't need a stadium in Brandon anymore" And who do we think invited gypsies to Coventry stadium? Do we think the gypsies just happened across the stadium themselves? They say there's only a padlock on the carpark gate that gypsies cut through easily, but isn't it a fact that when the stadium was in use there was never much more than a padlock on the car park gate? But the gypsies never invaded the car park then. It's as if someone invited them now. And of course there's the mystery fires that will eventually burn the stadium to the ground. Has Brandon had any major fires in the past 70 years? But now it will mysteriously have several. Accepting the Bees move to Leicester is giving in to Brandon Estates plans and bribes to show that no one needs Coventry stadium anymore.

Disagree totally. Bickley was flying at the end of the season. If you take them head to head in the play-off final, Bickley averaged 9.20 and Brennan 6.00.
