Leicester Lions 2018
Call me wolfie replied to The Observer's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Average too high Bjerre is 8.48, Vaculik just 8 -
He beat his fair share of no 1's, let's just agree to disagree but just give the guy a chance before you slate him
-
Top 5 away average last year I think you'll find
-
I can see your logic in that but don't forget Rory was partnered with Jacob so that would have affected his average also. I think Rory will benefit from his second season riding for us.and his early season form seems impressive enough. I think he will thrive in the captain's role and lead by example and presumably will be partnered with Cameron this year. For what its worth, regardless of which number they rode at last year, I considered Jacob our 2nd best rider behind Freddie. If he can perform like that again neither will touch him anyway
-
My understanding is if he wasn't in the initial 1-7 he can't come back mid season except with permission from the mc
-
I find it quite interesting you have mentioned Sam. If I had to pick one of our riders to challenge Jacob for the no 1 spot it would be Rory. Shows what strength in depth we have in our top 3, possibly the strongest in the league. I also think Kyle will improve his average to 7+. I prefer to say the glass is half full not half empty.

I'm jealous it's been a long wait, enjoy -
Lol next week hopefully weather looking much better for monday

Clegg?
-
Yes if he can get over his injury he is more than capable, just my opinion of course. I also respect your opinion, I guess time will tell. If I am wrong I will be the first one to say so. As regards your second point, thats why i believe it was more to do with averages and team building. If it's not working out there is the possibility of bringing in Tai or Pawlicki
-
Bwitcher, dont get get me wrong, im as devastated as you that we dont have Freddie this year, i really think from the form hes shown so far hes going to have a great year. However looking at he bigger picture had we gone for him over Jacob then either Sam or Rory aswell as Jacob would have to have gone which would have ripped the guts out of our team. If Jacob can get over his injury he has more than enough talent to be in the top 4 average wise.

Well I for one will be interested to see how Clegg gets on and whether we should have given him another chance on his bargain average. Expecting it to be close but I would say a narrow win for Rye with the Lions picking up a point -
King's Lynn v Wolves 11/04/18
Call me wolfie replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes only 10% chance of rain today begs the question however buster has said that the car park and track is waterlogged, whether it would improve after 1 dry day I've no idea -
Time to start a match thread then? Or is that tempting fate
-
To be honest you know nothing about Wolves finances, which were boosted by another semi-final and grand final appearance aswell as the home leg of the KO cup final at the end of last season. You are adding 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5. The decision to go with Jacob as our number 1 was mainly to do with averages as we wanted to keep the core of the team as stable as possible although admittedly a little bit to do with the uncertainty over the BT tv deal.Had we gone with Freddie and his average the rest of the team would have been compromised. Also I did my bit last season, took a friend with me midway through last season and he didn't miss a home meeting after that, regularly taking his family with him
-
No doubt Worrall and Cookie would have been the choice bearing in mind the race off is at the NSS but we do have another GP rider available but what are the chances of that happening?
-
No Ricky Wells probably isn't an adequate replacement for Stevie but then again we werent allowed an adequate replacement for Freddie and Jacob at the end of last season either. No rider available had anywhere near the average of Freddie so we were handicapped at the worst possible time. These things happen unfortunately but rules are rules
-
In the best interests of speedway one team should be allowed two riders over 8 points, you're having a laugh surely. It's not only that rule stopping Bjerre coming back now, he wasn't in BV's original line up so can't return this season anyway, unless of course 2 rules are disregarded. Feel desperately sorry for Steve and Belle Vue as he was flying but rules are there for a reason. Of the riders available I would say Ricky Wells is your best bet. Rebuilding isn't the answer imo as you would surely want Steve back when he is fit. Get well soon Steve
