  1. They've already confirmed Freddie isn't interested in riding over here
  2. We already know it's not Freddie, it will be Sam. Welcome back Luke
  3. Probably because this has already been debated to death on here, the last 3 names are inevitable, Becker and Masters to follow. Personally, I'm very happy to have Jacob back.
  4. Not gullible at all, just the ability to see the bigger picture
  5. You are absolutely spot on, his injury at the end of 2017 clearly had a massive effect on him in 2018, as did missing the first couple of months of this season. If he can stay injury free for 2020, it will be a much fairer reflection of his ability
  6. Apparently someone tried to poach him before the end of this season, a track he did rather well at, I'll let you guess which one
  7. It's also important to look at facts as to why a riders average has dropped. Jacob achieved an 8.64 average in 2017 but it ended with a horrific injury which saw him pretty much incapacitated until well into 2018, which saw him struggle both physically and psychologically throughout the season. He then missed the first couple of months of this season through injury but still managed to up his average slightly and become Swedish champion for the first time. If he can stay injury free this season I truly believe he is capable of an 8 point average again, although he will find himself riding at number 1 at some point
  8. I would imagine the decision to bring in Broc was taken months ago due to the success of Luke. Wanting to also keep Luke and Ryan, coupled with the failure to attract Freddie or Hancock, led to this situation I guess.
  9. Someone mentioned on here a couple of months ago that Wolves had signed him as an asset, can't remember who or in which topic though.
  10. I have no problem with Rory being in the team, in fact he would have been one of the first names on my team sheet. He is our captain and will leave a massive hole to fill when he's gone. He may have only been with us for 2.5 seasons but really has embraced the club and put everything into it. When we lose it hurts him more than anyone else, that's the kind of spirit you need in a captain. Who can forget Freddie getting injured at Belle Vue in 2017, it looked as though we were dead and buried but Rory pulled off a win from nowhere in heat 14 against Tungate and Bewley to take us to the final. As for PK, well he's a Wolves legend, you can't say the same for the likes of Harris, Andersen or whichever other names you want to bring up. Like it or not, the team will be what it is, so we have no choice but to embrace it for what it is, a team chosen with one eye on the future, and not a bad one at that.
  11. I don't think it's anything to do with cost at all, had Freddy or Greg made themselves available they would be in. Personally I would rather watch 3 young riders in Douglas, Becker and Nicol develop than a has been who's career is on a downward spiral
  12. Not convinced Holder would be any good at Ipswich, he doesn't like small tracks, ask any Wolves fan.
  13. If we are up to the 42.5 limit by mid season, with rolling averages, it will mean we are doing very well and cruising into the playoffs, so no need to strengthen. If the team is under performing then there will be scope to strengthen. Who's to say the likes of Woffy, Lindgren etc wouldn't be tempted in for the run in and playoffs, it's happened before, remember. I fully understand all of your points, they are valid, but it's not a weak team. If they do under perform, there will be room for strengthening. I would much rather we built to 42.5, but with the riders we have, I am satisfied with the team, and we have 3 great prospects for the future.
  14. If this team fails miserably you will have a point, I don't believe it will. I'll leave it there.
  15. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Lindgren, Woffy, Hancock, Pawlicki etc ride for us but they're not interested. From who's available and willing to ride it's a very good line up imo. The fact it's 2 points under the limit is irrelevant, that's nearly all due to the awful season Nick had last year, he's the gamble, not Broc. If Nick had managed a 7 point average last year, which he really should have, everyone would be saying what a great line up it is. If it doesn't work out then we have 2 spare points to strengthen and that's a pretty good position to be in
  16. Take a look at the confirmed signings for next year. Out of 25, only 5 have moved. 3 (Kurtz, Holder & Grajczonek) were due to Poole dropping down, leaving just 2, Kyle Howarth, who decided to leave Wolves, but has actually remained loyal to Sheffield, leaving just Richard Lawson who has switched teams. Pretty disloyal bunch, these speedway riders
  17. He also said he rode UK for a number of years and didn't think he'd learn anything new by returning
  18. It was mentioned a couple of years ago, because he lives local he got quite a bit of stick from people in the town when things weren't going well
  19. Kurtz was always going to BV, personally I wouldn't want either of the Holders to ride for us as there's too much baggage, Nicolai doesn't want to ride for us again, and I don't think Grajczonek or Kildemand would improve us
  20. Besides, Nicolai has made it clear in the past he doesn't want to ride for us again
  21. Swindon were champions because Batchelor had an exceptional year which probably no one saw coming, and Rasmus Jensen was signed on what turned out to be a ridiculous average
  22. Because he is our captain, and unlike some, Wolves are very loyal to their riders. It's his last year in speedway and there was never a chance he wasn't going to be in the team next year. I actually can't think of a 7 pointer I would rather have in place of Rory.
