  1. £25 would have been perfect. £27 is a bit expensive because the 2nd meeting is a gamble really hopefully get 30 heats. Still getting 2 meetings as fans with all the other expenses being the same as 1. I’m more likely to travel to a meeting at a different venue if it’s a double header too. Gaging by the previous posts that makes me the minority here but you can’t please everybody I guess and people react to negativity more than positivity. The saving of fuel, extra program, extra drink and half price 2nd meetining ive probably save £18 over the season out of this!
  2. Didn’t see that 1 coming. Was it a good meeting for the neutral?
  3. I’m looking forward to the meetings. Needs must to get fixtures in by cut off. 2 meetings in 1 night for less than double price. Only 1 program, 1 drink, 1 fuel cost. It’s not the end of the world. They make up for it in reduced expenses.I hope they have a decent rider or 2 on stand by to learn from previous mistakes and I hope the riders are on board with it too. Fingers crossed 6 points.
  4. 2 years sounds fair! i was worried he'd get something like 6 weeks. would have been a mockery. Now people will be assuming this was avoided for a recreational drug. who knows. But what if it wasn't. what if a rider was in a lot of pain and taking banned pain killers (hypothetical) to get him through the day doing his job paying his bills. Many of us have took strong pain killers when needed. Id definitely be more sympathetic then. I can also see why a rider would take uppers pre meeting in a heavy schedule. and downers after if they needed sleep too. it would be a vicious circle though. From a 9-5 perspective its all so simple but i bet when your living speedway and in pain with little sleep and hectic flight schedules it must be easy to stray from the allowed list. In some sports caffeine is a limited drug. meaning 2/3 energy drinks would class as sports enhancing. not all drug offences are black and white
  5. Can’t believe some fans burying Niels!!!! He’s a modern legend of the club. He rode for us when nobody else would in 2016 . . . . Topinka was crucified in his last season with us too by some. I bet some of you aren’t as productive as you were mid 20s. Maybe your bosses should drop you guys. Or your elder relatives.. . . What a joke. so next year we drop a 7 point Niels. He moves on and ends up as an 8 point rider or better. And the average equivalent replacement is inconsistent just like the 7ish point riders we have signed over the previous few seasons. Janowski, mads, bjerre, Rory, batchelor, all inconsistent. That’s what a sub 7.5 gets ya. Respect your club legends.
  6. Have to admit being surprised the announcer called it a 5-1 in heat 1. And didn’t think anything of it in heat 15 either. But impossible to tell from the 4th bend. Didn’t realise or sense it was even an issue though and I’m a fair guy. 1 thing for certain though, transponders would clear this debate up! Belle Vue deserved a point. Didn’t happen though and I’m proud of our lynn team. It’s a good time to be a lynn fan
  7. Don’t know what meeting you was at buddy! But your team rode well tonight and deserved a point! As a lynn fan I won’t cry over that too much though. Your number 7 and number 4 cost you. Not the ref.
  8. I think this 1 is impossible to predict. what craig cook/Max fricke/Rohan Tungate/Steve Worrall will turn up! Could be an away win! Could be a massive Home win! Ill go 50-40 But could be anything tonight! Its unpredictable!
  9. Could do it in batches. 3-4 heats at a time! Allows for something to do when the track is being graded. if you knew you had 15 minutes to get your betting cards in! could do it via an app on the internet phones maybe. or in person. if there is a heat change and your rider is no longer in the race then its void! Why charity! the sport struggles enough to make money domestically! why give it away. Imagine if teams made a profit and could invest in the facilities and the future. or even if (like the dogs) the admission fee was minimal because the money was made from the betting percentage! meaning the hardcore purists get speedway for cheaper. Love the idea of the Finishing order bets etc! Could be something in this! I
  10. How about In stadium betting like at the dogs? Do it the same way a pub does on race night. you pick your rider and don't know until all bets are in what you could be set to win. I bet that would create an atmosphere in itself
  11. I think you guys have had a very unlucky season. If that Vaculik incident hadn't have happened and bates hadn't broke his back then things may be very different. You will at least finish 1 place higher than last season (i jest)
  12. Bit of a shame Garrity didn't get a chance to prove himself. Hope its not the last we see of him! I wonder what changed Riss's mind. I thought he didn't fancy the travel? Good Signing
  13. So why the push for 1 big league? Lots of meaningless fixtures. Smaller leagues with bigger, medium and small clubs as it currently is minimises it. I can see what ever happens there will be just as many doubters if not more with the larger league.
  14. It is the main thing that stops people I have taken from going more regular. Price. 1 league and musical entrances it is then. That will make a massive difference. Let’s watch the crowds double . seriously though. If things are meddled with and tampered with too much it just might do more damage than good. Upset the hardcore who still go then you will be in a worse position than what you started with. GEt the price right, advertise better and get a bigger media presence. How that works I don’t know. neither do many of the current people running the sport. That’s why they need help Picking out just price is ignoring everything else I put. But whatever really. I hope whatever the next dawn is saves the sport I love without killing any more of the excitement and anticipation,
  15. The 1 league idea would mean a lot of pointless meetings this time of season though. There can only be 1league winner. And maybe a playoff stetch to 6? This x amount of teams with daed rubber meetings. Crowds will be low. Also local derbies will be a minimum if teams face off once. And if it becomes farcical like a few seasons back where you face some teams 1ce and others 2ce then that would be a joke too. The 3 tier thing is a good foundation. The middle tier is too strong. The middle tier needs to be half that of the top league. Just like it used to be. If you scrap set race nights (I’d give it longer) then the top league needs to always get the priority on riders. We need to get a vibrancy back to the league. Look at team gb at the moment. It’s being marketed well and there seems to be a lot of people promoting that area of the sport well. A team of people like this to run British speedway as a whole. Hopefully in a way that may attract people to advertise through it. social media needs to be ran in a way so negative coments are deleted before the toxicity damages the sport completely. Theare a lot of people out there who talk down the sport so much. In the modern day of social media people see this and treat it as a review. So the people who love the sport are also poisoning it and slowly killing it with their half witted comments. A bad meeting is a bad meeting, it’s a sport so not every meeting is going to be great. It’s a dangerous sport too that requires the weather to play ball. Hold ups happen. Don’t make every issue into a crisis! the pricing is my main gripe. Its a sport that is hard to follow until you get to grips with the riders . I’d give every school kid 3/4 free family entry tickets. This would mean they would get familiar with riders and rules. And if the price right they may return after these expire. If it’s was around 12 pounds entry it would be very tempting I’d suggest stands would look fuller too maybe prompting more advertisement and a better atmosphere. 7 vs 7 domestic speedway is great. It annoys me that the Phil Rising column in the star focused in on the 1 league idea as being popular. Based on what? A few coments on the forum? Most speedway fans don’t use the forum and those that view it without commenting see it (forum) as a depressing joke. The speedway star is where people go for their speedwaynews fix. Maybe use that as a gage as to what people want. Structure wise. But don’t forget brexit/the us elections. Sometimes what people want isn’t always the answer. People get too het up on the politics of the sport and don’t enjoy it for what it is. exciting but overpriced
  16. I’m not a fan of 1 league an I’m also against changing the 7 rider team format. I’m really not sure 1 league is the majority view or any less than 7 riders is either . Is there a way to create a poll in the star.because I find the forum a place hard to gage majority Opinion. You get some good points then a whole lot of static. It it bugs me how some people want to change the wheel when it needs the right expertise in to promote the sport. Like the team go guys are doing. Get the tracks right. The presentation slick. Manage the social media better vetting out the negative stuff. GET THE PRICE RIGHT, give multiple free meeting coupons to school kids families (3/4 so newbies get familiarised with the riders and rules and if the entrance fee was say £12 per adult then families would be able to do this as their weekly activity), prepare for bad scenarios. Such as interviews if trackwork is required/injuries. Medical cover that minimalises hold ups like 2 ambulances. Kids clubs with activities. If if you could drum up a media presence then companies may want to advertise through the sport. So look into that. Now im up for keeping a 3 league structure with weakening the middle tier to 50% of the pl and pricing it accordingly. Like it used to be. I’m also up for reintroducing a mandatory 2 point under 21 British reserve again. At 7 with no “protected rides” that caused the problems with averages before. Double up is ok but with the 50% cl it would make it minimal naturally. Fixed race nights I’d persevere with for now too. I dont see see how 1 overpriced league will work. It will just put fans like myself off . There will be less trophy’s to win too so more teams will feel like losers and crowds will drop.
  17. Im a lynn fan that dislikes poole but this really is a storm in a teacup! We were beaten on what on a good day is a sh!t track. but its the same for both teams. As for the Contamination. This is a tiny thing. its almost a nothing and if it helps the track so be it. Poole track needs as much help as it can get. Maybe be discreet. sure its no worse than a few stock car crashes? No track needs the Environmental bs because that would put the sport in a bad place. a lot of hot air over nothing and a few posters on here that could do with growing up a bit on both sides of the argument. Its a bit cringe really!
  18. Lynn to lose 52-38 . If we hit 40 it’s agood effort and any better than that then we will really have to start to believe! Our middle riders will all have to be on it tonight though. Proctor Jorgensen toft and Newman. If 1 of them scores lowly then no chance and with this opposition it’s a hard task. Could just as easily be a thrashing. But I hope not. I have faith. Come on stars!!!!
  19. The late notice makes it a bit of a glorified fixture filler really. Its a good idea though but ideally take team for a challenge meeting to 1 of the big polish tracks. that would be more worthwhile. or at the nss where a big international meeting is likely to take place. The late notice is a bit strange for a big meeting really
  20. I thought it was a good meeting as did the others i was around. Haven't seen it on telly yet but considering its the same old posters moaning ill take the "poor meeting" with a pinch of salt. Glad to send them home pointless!!!! Wednesday will be the true test away at poole. If we hit 40 then id take that as a good effort.
  21. Didn't the bspa buy a bulk load of those sealed long life gerhard engines? If the club owned the engines and they were mandatory would that not be economic. I'm sure it wouldn't go down so well with the riders but if they were supplied and compulsory then take it or leave it? at least everybody would be on identical (?) engines loaned by the club. Its a bit radical but it might help
  22. They told us who the guest was going to be Wednesday night? Newman.
  23. Crowds have been stable over the last couple of season from my view. I guess the 1st couple of seasons in the el they were busier but that was because of enthusiasm of the move up. There always seems to be plenty of youths at lynn too. I don’t think it’s as doom and gloom at lynn as it is many other tracks. i hate the idea of 1 weakened league and I probably won’t attend as regularly as I do now. I love having lambert and Niels. There is a jump in class from them to the others. If I have to miss a meeting now it’s a big deal to me. If it’s all 1 championship and the prices are similar then that’s not really on. And I would maybe slacken a bit. the pl is still a good league. Very even really. And fixed race nights have improved the league in terms of more stable teams. Just not attendances. But it’s early days still. It needs people like the team gb branding team, who really seem to know what they are doing, to promote the sport in a better way at club level. Maybe if it was promoted better then more companies would be willing to advertise through it and the teams may be able to make it pay. It’s alright say8ng an independant body needs to run it but it needs to be the right independant body who can come in and make it more vibrant again. Give it meaning and purpose. Lynn won in a last heat decider on Monday and I felt like I was the only one buzzing about it. I was nervous before the race and buzzing after. Where has that fan passion gone? If we don’t care then what’s the point
  24. Strong reserves again. It’s another strength in depth team meaning our 5 riders will have to work hard to score the points. Lambert and iversen should score heavy though. Very close meeting I think. 47-43
