So how did it all come about then? what are their links with sky and what should happen if go speed was to cease/sell. Having a big contract like that dependant on 1 outside party seems a bit curious. Does go speed have any other sports they deal with as well? Are their other similar companies should anything happen to the Russels I don't know how these things work but it seems like a nice little cozy job! 1ce your foot is in the door and you have the 1st contract

I agree with Kevh about the 3rd party How ever much the Russell's take out of the deal is money out of the sport. Could a member of the bspa not negotiate the tv contracts without the use of a 3rd party.

Horton running leicester was 1. 3 nights ago that rumour started from somewhere even the time this thread was made leicester and belle vue had been announced as starters. but somebody still thinks there was only 5 teams starting! we knew from the beginning of this last month that leicester and belle vue were running. i click on this link! Where is the evidence that sky are thinking about not running speedway. Not seen anything anywhere saying that! thats why i call it scare mongering because a post like this will start a rumour! But like Paulco said! Jokes on me for taking any posts on here too seriously`! its always negative rumours though! never positive 1s

So 9 teams are running now. Is there any actual truth in this thread title. I've been on this forum for 2 months now and it's constant gossip. I don't think a single scare mongering rumour has come true. Why does nobody ever get called out on it. If they don't get made an example of then it will just keep happening right? False rumours from people" in the know" . False facts, false people I never know now what is fact and what is rumour. The bspa website and speedway star are the only reliable sources right?

Good insight into things d w p If people always dwell on the negatives then they will be magnified to an extent the positives get overlooked. it's a great sport and that's why we all go Hopefully everything that has gone on at Coventry will fast track the search for a new site. That is of importance because Coventrys future is extremely short without a new stadium. Doesn't have to be state of the art. All the pleasantries can come in time. But surely the ball is rolling in terms of long term. Any news on that front.

Hopefully all this starts to get the wheels in motion for finding a new stadium. That's the only real fix and fast. If not this could be the last season

He wants out after this season and had no intention to run in a professional league. If stocks are definitely running then that's a good sign surely

Well. They were in the hands of a very incapable promotion . . . . . But in all seriousness though it could work if it was done right. An ambitious promoter with a good backer. It's certainly better than nl level. Just because it didn't work under a previous promotion doesn't mean the idea should be buried forever. It's a weaker league now and there is potentially a team without a track to ride. If its at Birmingham it won't impact the liecester project.

At amature league ambition level though It's a joke they are nl. Fair comment ?

I can't help but look at the Birmingham situation, look at hortons situation and take all emotion out of the thinking. Horton has a premier team and Birmingham have a premier facility and location. The fact they are nl this season is a joke. Brandon stadium has a short life span left in it. Maybe 0 seasons, maybe 3, Birmingham is empty in 1. It's a good fit for Horton and a good fit for speedway. It's a sore point. But losing both would be dumb. It would be the right fit for Birmingham to continue in a professional league. Would suck for bees fans though. How sensible would mole be price wise? How sensible would Horton's valuation be. It would be a bit Wimbledon mk dons. But there could be logic in it. Horton as brummies promoter? 1 year sooner than mole intended to sell?

That's not speedway as a whole though is it. That's 3 teams in isolation this season. Leicester and belle vue have long term commitments now too. This isn't speedways problem. This is coventrys. Speedway is rallying round to help Coventry and there is moaning about a lack of news and anti bspa comments (because that's the cool thing to do right). Be grateful that deadlines are being extended and that people are working hard behind the scenes. It's only a mess right now because of 1 teams in house problems. For the good of Coventry fans I hope those problems get settled for at least this season. Speedway will move on with or without though. It did after reading and Oxford and Bradford and cradely. Don't call it speedways mess. Call it your landlords and operators mess I really hope it gets rectified though for the hardcore that turn up through the toughest of times. No fan deserves to lose its team.

STAGE MANAGEMENT!!!! ? Thats what the circus is for. 4 guys racing on a good track! Integrity. if its follow the leader then so be it! 42-42 going into a last heat decider that matters. My tummy is turning with nerves just thinking about it! it doesn't have to have been exciting racing for that to be a good night out. but it has to be honest. Price is the most important thing. £10 with a free race card el, £8 with a free race card pl, and £5 with a race card cl. I think often some tracks fall behind on the presenters as well. that guy is the equivalent to a heat leader because it sets the vibe. There is a line between dull and informative and there is a line between funny and cringey. The sport is great as it is and people like to dump on it because at times its an easy target. Change what we love too much then the 1s that are already there will walk away an become alienated!

So if mildenhal would have folded that mid season do you think they would still be running now? with the noise complaints and everything else that was going on there at a similar time. If buster hadn't got involved with Leicester would that have been alive now? before the AGM what would their intentions have looked like. I think Belle Vue would possibly have still been running but who knows. Wagstaff almost deleted us in 2002/2003 time and buster saved us. The coventry/peterborough thing was 2 teams playing up because team building rules didn't go there way. If Lynn hadn't stepped up at that time then 2 teams were prepared to drag the sport in even deeper mud than it is now. This situation now is because a stadium was sold to a man who had other interests than sport in mind. Then sold on to a developer. The coventry fans don't deserve this situation at all because be it this year, next year or the year after greed £££ is going to end up as the winner and it makes me sick! Like there isn't enough empty fields elsewhere to build houses on. sucks

I honestly think the only real big problem with the product is the price. If it was £10 per adult with program included then the stands would be much fuller. Even team strengths on top of that then we are laughing! . The things that stop the price being right are being tackled. There is a lot being done and i feel confident in that with this engine cutting costs, team building that looks as favourably to strength in depth as it does to have strong heat leaders, return to the unprotected 15 heat format, Things are on the up from a speedway fans prospective. Now how to entice more fans, well for a start stop moaning about how crap everything is when things are improving. Needlessly negative opinions are poisonous. criticism isn't a bad thing as long as it isn't for the sake of it! but half the comments on a lot of different threads make me cringe! Thats some of the problem. Marketing does need improving but once again. the noises i hear are saying its being worked on so lets see! but if somebody doesn't like speedway then thats fair enough. I don't really like rugby of darts. no matter how much marketing is one i probably never will! A page has been turned and things are looking better than they were before. Not perfect. But better. if I'm starting to lose weight then encourage me! don't keep telling me I'm fat because i would probably start to think whats the point in bothering, ill always be fat. I believe we all have a role to play in this.

Sporting dreams does a good game. Expensive to some but riders have stats and attributes other than just averages. Has track sizes and conditions as well as gating passing and track stats. Also has confidence and morale ratings. Fitness too and finances with depth. League, cup, 4tt , pairs. Grand prix. Works with a squad system too If this was a computer game it would de as addictive as heroin

I don't understand what everybody was expecting. A Jose marinio style press conference? More questions were answered than in that type of interview. The guy gave us his opinions on different matters. He isn't media trained but it was his best. This is a minority sport in this country and like anything minor, standards will be low. things do go wrong. So what. I love the way everybody looks for holes to pick in everything. Billy big nuts with their false names thinking they have the answers to everything. This forum is a joke. Some people have good points but Jesus. It's amazing the way people slate things when they are anonymous on a keyboard. Thank god speedway promoters exist and thank god there is a governing body. But it would mean a weaker reserve

Its about who the Council want wasn't it? thats how I've read it in the star and from various statements. If Pairman got the sense that it was unlikely to be him and his consortium maybe thats why he has pulled out. Does any body know for certain how many interested parties there are in the running for this.

Well why the negative attitude towards it then? Whether it works out time will tell but so what for now. This is great for speedway that the team is running. Buster saved Lynn in the winter of 2002/3 after the wagstaff era in my time. Id have been devastated as would the other few hundred hardcore at that time. 13/14 years on and I don't feel conned. I really don't understand you reply to my original message. It's not blind optimism. And my age and number of posts is irelivent. Many have been conned before . . The odd rougue . More haven't. When you think about it a lot of people who run clubs do so out of passion and it's in their own spare time and normally at some form of loss. Even if it's at a gain I wonder what their hourly rate would work out as? Now I understand sometimes it's hard to gage the tone of word in pixels. and that's how riots start on these things. 16 years a fan. Ok I know some on here remember the boom days. And talk of the early 80s ect but they are never coming back. The world changes. Be happy with what we have. It's a great sport with great competitors. Gladiators. The real fact is Leicester is running next season. Christ. If you hate it so much why bother?

At times that looked very unlikely and it's also running in the top league. Sod the politics. The few hundred hardcore fans who turned up cheering their team last season through thin and thinner still get their fix and maybe. With a competitive team the fan base will grow. Frost at leicester or BV maybe? if not it sits awkwardly with me that he owns riders contracts! i think they should revert to free agents or bspa or even better assets remain with club not promoter!. Congratulations on your security. quite what changes I'm not too sure! only 1 set of bills maybe as NEP just put!
