  1. When i said second half i was including junior races and amateur races in that such as mdl! I didn't mean the old style! but that would be awesome!
  2. more fans would probably stay for the 2nd halves if meetings were over quicker! Summer for me is mental work wise so time is kind of at a premium! if the meeting was over by 9 id probably stay for some of the 2nd half.
  3. Can't argue that it's not a good show though. The race suits, the buzz about it amongst the competitors. As meaningless as it is to us it's great to see the elite do battle. I brought it up on here just to ask why there wasn't any mention of a meeting with a field only 2nd arguably to the grand prix in the star. I wondered if phil rising was going to give a reason on it. Is there pressure to cut back on some of the coverage from the British promoters. As much as I am a bspa sympathiser. Their stance on the European meetings is holding British riders back. Cook, king, lambert, worral, Newman, Ellis ect would all benefit big time having a run in these meetings. For the star not to mention a field that strong I and many others I spoke to found interesting.
  4. The problem yesterday was the meeting start was delayed. Then every 4 heats the track was overhauled and it was kept almost perfect. But each time it took far too long. The mood was a relaxed Sunday afternoon out. I'm sure if it had been a 7 pm start it would have been over befor ten allowing for the late flurry of incidents. It was a no win to some extent but heat 12 pre grade was a good race with passing as was heat 13 post grade. So I do wonder if every 4 heats was necessary . It never dusted once and was a lovely warm day. Had it been dusty people would have moaned too. A happy medium is needed but can you fault a track man laying a perfect race track. A lot of places could take note of the effort put in.
  5. its only an our and the only racing is from heat 19 as live
  6. To rub salt into the wound the replay shows the first race from heat 19. Pretty cheesed off. As much as i like the Speedway Star I'm blaming speedway media for the 18 heats dropped.
  7. This time of year moisture rises up through tracks. It doesn't have to be raining. Just cold. It's the problem with early meetings. I'm not one to defend Poole though. Lynch them regardless !
  8. I love the speedway star. It's a great read with lots of information that otherwise I would be oblivious to. But tonight I had stumbled across the pairs meeting on Eurosport. Heat 13. Didn't have. Clue it was on and likewise 3 other speedway households didn't. For a nation that doesn't get to see the big names live that often and with fewer meetings being on tv i don't understand how 3 speedway star reading households were unaware. I think it's a big meeting. As big as wards benefit meeting. The riders clearly think its big too. So why isn't there a bigger build up to it. Is it to keep some of the uk promoters on side. If Eurosport was to get big figures for this. Who is to say one day uk speedway won't be grateful for those figures if the big 2 were to drop British speedway. Eurosport realising its worth taking on. I'm not saying a big 2 or 4 page spread even. Just an inch mention on the 1 st couple of pages would have done the job
  9. Wrestling has a massive following. It's the entertainment and drama and the stereotype views are as lame as speedway critics saying "all they do is go around in circles" . I would go as far as to say its maybe 2nd to football in viewing figures for the American stuff I came on here because i was mad at the lack of advertisement of the pairs meeting throgh the star and other main speedway internet sources for tonight . Now I'm mad for halfwit comments about true professionals who work and train 24 7 for their dreams and will travel the uk for fuel and £30 if they are lucky enough to have been noticed. Probably will be spent on training and ring gear or gym memberships. A lot of national league young heat leaders could take notice of that dedication.
  10. Just been to my parents. They have cut down a lot over the years tv wise. But for basic sky tv they signed a contract with sky for 30 ish pounds a month. And I mean very basic too. They are also paying nearly 50 a month for calls Internet and line rental with bt. So 80 pounds where tomorrow I'm going to hopefully be able to halve that at least for them and upgrade to fibrotic just by contacting bt nd asking them for a package what will alsi include the entertainmentnplus bt sports. When contracts expire it sure gets expensive if you just let it be. I was shocked! They are both late 60s and didn't really think they could get more for much less. I know there is some stuff out there where you can get stuff for nothing. But that wouldn't be the case if sky were reasonable with prices. I hope bt stays at a nice inclusive level because if not. Those other options become a little less tasteless.
  11. Just got a bt tv package. Already had broadband and line rental. Very pleased with the cost. The tv deal itself is very reasonable. Can't remember the exact number but less than ten pounds a month with a nice recordable box. That's under30p per day. Discovery geography plus much more. Eurosport too. It's around the same price as basic now tv but has so much more!
  12. it was just an idea! Do it outside the carpark at the roadside! bypasses will get the message then! inside would be a bit pointless! Why wait for a local photographer. do it when it suits the masses and if there is enough disruption and a big enough splash then it will get noticed regardless . hope it all goes well for you guys. But don't let negativity hold you back or stop you. if there isn't a big turn out then it dims the importance. Im not a coventry fan but id hate for it to be the end
  13. Why not all have a mass gathering outside the stadium on a regular basis. Saturday makes sense. Bring your own cameras banners, megaphones. Do it weekly or fortnightly. Protest. Make sure the speedway message is loud. Then you can't be forgotten. If it doesn't help prevent the planning permission then at least it will put pressure on those that matter to assist in speeding up a new location. If anybody has the original fixture list with the provisional home speedway dates these would be perfect! And if it means it causes traffic congestion in the area even better. Keep it clean. But make some noise. ?
  14. Tv got me into it. Back in 2000. Hardly missed a home meeting since. I think speedway works great on telly. Been to some rotten meetings. Follow the leader. Went home. Watched me meeting back with the drama of a great commentator it's really built it up. Also I always think racing looks closer on the telly too. Sky have done a good job. How can speedway use tv to their advantage though. It lets people know its out there but they cannot use footage for promotional stuff. Other than cheap admittance when tv is in town and advertising future meetings on top of that. Some people just don't buzz for speedway. I don't buzz for rugby. I think most tv viewers do attend meetings. And most speedway fans who attend meetings also watch tv meetings involving other clubs. We are a passionate bunch for our sport. That's why the viewing figures hold up. And that's why some people on here moan about things. Iguess it's like politics where everybody says they would run the country differently.
  15. i don't want to be pessimistic but i think the only way the bees will be back on track will be when they find a new site. Thats the most important thing to work on now! 6 months ago they said that the bees aren't a major concern while they have a track to race on. Now they don't. feelings are raw so thats what needs to be done. put pressure on the councils to make this a priority! or this may be the end
  16. not really but we persevere because we love it! pl 15 cl 12 nl 8 all with a program! and tbh that would still be too much! dont compare it to other sports because it isn't football! the prices for that sport are ridiculous at times but the teams that pack their stadiums i suppose can justify it! our stadiums don't sell out! prices should have probably have dropped this winter but that was never likely to happen! saying that! if 2 adults to go to speedway costs less than 30 pounds then it makes it a lot more attractive and people would probably cherry pick their fixtures much less than if its over! i honestly feel 15 and kids going free would be a good move!
  17. Of course the riders loved him. He was paying good wages as he was a benefactor . He threatened to pull out over wanting to strengthen the side mid season. Wanting to bring in kylmakorpi even though the rules prohibited it and then there was further toys thrown out of the pram over the season of discontent with the team strengths. Peterborough and Coventry were deplorable at that time. Had sandhu never stepped foot in Coventry there would be no mess now. I don't get the sympathy and justification towards him. He promised you speedway long term. No sale until a new stadium was found. He promised you funds for this season. Blaming others is like blaming the guy who installed the china shop window for the damage after a bull had ploughed through it
  18. Awesome news. I don't watch a lot of sport. Only really speedway. Not everybody is a multi sports fan. If bt do take on top league speedway then that makes a package with them worth it to me. Last season I was waiting for the gp to be uploaded to YouTube while avoiding spoilers. Missed the sec and Swedish leagues. I'm probably in the minority as I'm a uk league speedway fan over the gp so I relied on now tv. As that's not recordable and working away also it did make things hard. Sky's full package and sports packages are ridiculous in value. Saving to get on the property ladder means I couldn't justify getting everything I know people like to bury the sport but this is great news for the viewer who can't afford everything tv wise. Now the bt package should pretty much cover it . . . Right?
  19. On the Coventry and Hancock thing. Many years back didn't you choose to go with aj and lee Richardson over Hancock and that's what gave him the hump. So later joined wagstaff at Oxford then reading. I remember reading that he was really cheesed off with the circumstances. Anyway. Feels out of place talking about this. Coventry need to find a site to run speedway. That's been aparent since pretty much December. I feel that's more likely whiles Stokes has influence so really it is a case of getting on top of things in actions fast before too much time is wasted and the impact is less raw Horton pretty much washing his hands on Coventry since the news isn't ideal because you need a leader. Somebody needs to stand up and stop talking about what has happened and start talking about putting a plan in place for the future. Talking about what is going to be done to make sure this isn't the complete end. Maybe fans have a role to play in this. If there is a leader in place and somebody knows a person with plenty of land. Such as a farmer then just the announcement of possibilities keeps the ball rolling. 1 random chat to the right person could cause a miracle in the long term. What's happened has happened and it sucks big time. But there is a possible future if people act.
  20. Much like how the forums were saying the Coventry promotion were going to be running Leicester. Empty vessels making lots of noise and loose lips sinking ships. Nothing needs to be announced until the inc is dried and lots of people who like to portray importance will no doubt get their opinions in and people will read into them too much. The anticipation must suck. But if the nss has been listed in the major events I think it's all looking positive. Riders spoken too. Additional fixtures and constant reassurances
  21. Well if Richie Worrall is saying riders have been contacted and its been printed that justin sedgeman will be riding there also. I'm very sure. much like the leicester situation that everything is fine and it really is just a case of announcing it. Apart from Richie Worrall himself i hasten to add
  22. The year Kaspzak was number 2 in the world he was passing often! Massive dive bombs! when he's on form he can be as good as anybody in the world! when he isn't on form then he cn be so far off the pace its unreal! I love watching him when on form though! I don't get why people are comparing him to nilson! There aren't many weaker number 1s than nilson but there aren't many stronger number 6's than lebadevs/riss/auty/wolbert the this team is stronger than swindon and they have doyle. stronger than somerset and maybe on a par with coventry. (king hasn't always been a double points scoring heat leader, purple patch of good form or long term quality? who knows) poole lynn and wolves look like the 3 strongest teams to start the season but other than that its quite unpredictable . Laughing at the howarth vs auty debate. . . . . Keep it up! how about chucking Kerr, Wright and robson to the debate!
  23. At first I was quite underwhelmed with this team. But the more I think about it , although still bottom half, considering its left overs and avoiding riders that would cause double up clashes. And Saturday nights too. It's probably as good as it was likely to be. It's racers on a gaters track as far as a few of the guys are concerned though A platform to build from and probably a budget team too. Saturday's after this season will probably be an issue though. Say Kim and andrejs are in the gp and sec after this season. It stops the continuity of your best riders if they have individual ambitions. I know that's a big if though but surely it's a put off. Hope it's a positive season though. The die hard deserve it after the past year or so
  24. I've always thought it should be that unless the rider is an asset of a club, the senior league should take presidence The premiership is the main league in this country with television etc. so that league should take priority. For professionalism as much as anything
  25. Doesn't mikkel bech Also fit that criteria. Can't remember if he had a season in the gp or not. Does this fit as a team 1 Nilsson 2 auty 3 gomolski 4 B pedersen / bech 5 kylmakorpi 6 Wallner/gapmier/sissies/ 4 ish pointer 7 j p b (Sheffield link)
