  1. Holder and lynn didn't really work out from day 1. I found myself struggling to support him from day 1. He came across as a bit of a rock star. I wasn't really enjoying speedway at the time he was dropped. The 2'nd half was full of hungry riders with points to prove. We lost loads but it was a team of tryers and everybody can relate to that. If we could have 6 of them back plus Niels I would take that now. doyle would be a 1 season wonder. Ride lynn this year, then Swindon again. Then who knows. Niels feels like a lynn rider. I'm never going to be a fan boy over a big name signing again after last season. I guess I'm a cynical person now with it. Doyle was missing so many heat 15s for Swindon. That sort of thing bugs me a bit. Iversen, lindgren, no 8+ rider, Doyle, some billy big nuts gp rider doing the uk a favour. That would be my order of prefference
  2. Maybe it's a bit of a stunt and he will be riding for us so when he is announced Jan 25th it's a nice surprise ? clutching at straws a bit.
  3. The problem is too many higher quality riders have been allowed to double down for too long. It wouldn't be a big deal not having Kennet and Nichols in the top league if cook Harris Morris masters, Schlien, lambert, king, Lawson, grazionek, among others were also prevented from doing so. thats why it's a problem.
  4. Iversen. After rock star Holder last season. It made you appreciate what we had in Niels. i wouldn't be surprised if we had none of the above and had a team of sub 8 pointers Though.
  5. This whole thread is why most real speedway fans I talk to think this forum is a joke.
  6. He seemed so happy to be at Swindon. Loyal. And friendly to the fans. He loves being at Swindon and you can tell that. The fact some Swindon fans are disregarding that is sad. I hope the lad doesn't read the forum because he will be gutted. You probably don't deserve him. His average is an honest 1. whats to say he won't kick on again next season. If you take on an untried polish ego. When he goes absent at the click of his polish clubs fingers remember this guy who wanted stay and openly loved being with you!
  7. Post deleted. Didn't realise this 9 point gp rider thing was actually a thing! I'm disappointed.
  8. I don't know if I'd be happy with Doyle. I wasn't a fan of holder long before "that night" . If Doyle is as self centred as holder then I would be skeptical. I'd rather iversen any day but that's wishful thinking. So strong number 7 suits me. Doyle has already been critical of buster in recent months after the holder/batchelor sacking. Buster says always how he won't bust the bank for any rider too. Iversen/thorsell or maybe a slight chance on Brady Kurtz because I wouldn't rule out Doyle going back to Poole . . Especially if there is a transfer fee too If we did get him I hope it's not another false dawn.
  9. I loved thj around lynn! Such a crazy messy style! Never gave up. Was very exciting to watch! Sub 5 average! Each to heir own but I don't see the downside
  10. If lambert does decide to move on Danny king is an asset and that would give us room for both Neil's and thj. I'd rather lambert stay though
  11. He has energy and character! Would be the best number 7 in the league! Exciting too
  12. Piotr pawlicki (wishful thinking) Lambert Jorgensen Toft Rose Kerr Thj If there is enough spare I'd have king for Kerr rose or toft Top rider replaceable until we find 1 that wants to ride for us!
  13. That's true but I remember people moaning about the t/s at the time for that reason.
  14. The tactical sub unpopular for a while because before the double ups young riders were only getting 3 rides where fully established riders were getting 6 7 if r/r was in use, I guess now riders double up that is less of an issue because they get rides elsewhere. Did it used to be a maximum of 3 tactical substitutes with different riders With reserves having to have a minimum of 3 rides. ( I believe the top 5 didn't have a minimum so a main team rider could have just 1 ride. May be wrong though)
  15. Nah the moaners will just find something else to nitpic over. Regardless. I'd rather attract newbies to the sport than some of the bile filled fair weather fans who justify it on here with negativity. Free world though i guess. The only way of attracting new people is pricing and promoting. The rule changes don't effect much in that regard but the running issues of the sport have been improved and that's undeniable . Be interesting to compare 2018s guests figures to that of 17. This tactical rule is better than it was? Teams are no weaker? Next things on the agenda Is how to promote the sport better (that's something fans can help out with if they wanted) and how to set a price that is fair.
  16. I think it's been pretty positive. What's it matter if next season that rule is changed to unlimited riders over 8, it's situational . There is a lot of needless negativity. From the same old bores in the main too! The only negative really is Swindon needing some Thursdays gives Poland a reason to use the 3 league rule. No jokers, less clashes for rider availability, 42.5 league. Main issues have been addressed Don't let that stop the moaning though.
  17. Maybe they know some riders 8 plus want to opt out of uk and others although stating they want to ride in the uk are having polish problems. If people had be told hyperthetically that Bjerre Lindgren Niels Thorsell 50/50 Plus a others fell into these categories then it does make sense. Especially with no to deal as of yet It's ok for Swindon wolves and bv but if a few riders have opted/force out who were considering then it does make sense We haven't got the perfect fixed night scenario with the Swindon situation so Poland are in their right to kick up with the 3 league rule. I do hate their Feds for it. It's actually sensible maybe a few bottom ends will be a bit more premier now
  18. It's 90% ok. 2 riders over 8 would be better or even unlimited. i think it's a way of limiting the reliance of top riders who have polish contracts. If you only have 1 of these 8+ riders it should allow more to be available should there be an enforced withdrawal. Thursdays would have been better than Wednesdays but so be it. If it's a problem in the future then maybe Denmark will have to move days instead. It's a shame Swindon need to reserve days. That's a bugbear. Maybe once the new stadium is sorted this can be rectified and the reserved days is just a short term Doyle hasnt ridden himself out of a job. In fact he was hinting on considering his uk options. It's up to Swindon if they use him, or other teams if they can afford him but his demands have a limit now with this rule. I'm happy with the 42.5 limit. I'm happy with the dropping of the joker. I'm 75% with the set race nights and I'm 50% on the 1 over 8 rule. So all in all pretty satisfactory. No doubt people will pick holes in stuff or asoon as there is a meeting where a couple of riders are missing hail the rules as doomed but there are many steps in the right direction!
  19. Fixed race nights was a must! Dropping the joker is a must! Keeping the top league no weaker than it currently is has to be a must too. Dropping promotion/relegation is a big must If any of these 4 key points have failed then the Agm has been unsuccessful. Anything extra can be tweaked next season.
  20. I'm not an idiot!!!!!. I wasn't comparing fan bases. Because those sports are well promoted even if people don't like them at least they know what they are! Many non speedway fans don't know what it is even "is that the cars"
  21. I'd be pretty content with just a few things changed to be honest. I'll get blasted for saying that no doubt. Set race nights makes sense. With the double ups these days it is the common sense way forward Scrapping the relegation race off completely. A strong top league. 42 is acceptable. It's the most marketable league in the country. Scrap the double points. The old tactical sub rule was dropped for a reason. Young prospects having 3 rides where world class riders were getting 6. Just run it as it is. If it's 1 sided so be it. That's sport. The 70s and 80s were the 70s and 80s. This is now. This is the current climate. Promote what we have. It's a good product when it goes to plan. When things run slick even a 1 sided affair can be entertaining. What we don't need is pointless hold ups for prolonged track grading unless it's urgent. Intervals in meetings that have had hold ups are a big ball ache too. Half the time speedway is awesome though. It just needs to be promoted better. If people love it then great. If they don't they don't . Not everybody loves cricket snooker darts or rugby but we know it exists. There is a lot to like. Just with a few changes.
  22. Just read the Hancock bit in the star. Open to the possibility of riding in the uk as he is unwilling to ride in the polish top league. You guys can offer track time for testing. Could pull in some other midland fans from yesteryear . Could be an interesting shout
  23. If it wasn't a numbers game I would have neither.
  24. Josh on his day is awesome! As we see at lynn this season. And I loved the way he spoke. Took responsibility and was very much thinking as a team man in his interviews. Very much a confidence rider. When he's good he's awesome. When he's not he struggles. But he never gives up. Even when he's beaten you often look to the people around you and say "he gave that a good go"
