  1. This project should be ready and sturdily set up for 2019. No problem,
  2. If this is so. why are most promoters so poor at building up their crowds? A 50% increase of fans sounds as if most clubs would then be in the black and doubling the number means these men and women prepared to make a limited loss, wold be quids in!!! And going up from around an average gate of 1,000 to 1,500 - or even 2,000 cannot be beyond the realms of possibly . Especially considering that the track I had in mind was doing around 3,500 a decade or so ago. Hmmm. Well presented, close, exciting VFM racing springs to mind. Have these promoters settled for an easy life of losing a few grand season by season?
  3. Oh Yes Please! Hamish, have no influence over the BSPA buggers?
  4. And the old adage definitely applies that - anything is worth only what someone else is willing to pay for it.
  5. Steve Shovlar wrote " Better to walk away and set up a ppv internet channel. Whilst I understand that the internet connections would certainly not be good enough for a tv channel, it should be good enough for the internet. We are not talking 1080p hd streaming. Bspa could then tap into the Polish market as well as the uk fanbase. A fiver to watch a selected Premiership meeting or 20 a month for 4 or 5 live streams would be decent value to fans. 100 subscriptions, which is nothing, would bring in £2000 more than what BT are offering. 200 watching and 7000 pounds more. Obviously costs need to come out but a fast Virgin broadband stream would be adequate." I agree with setting up a PPV internet channel and have done for at least three years. I have my sub ready! I just don't feel that BT are bothered if the BSPA take the original idea or not. It was merely my "guess" of BT upping it - by say 25%, just to give the BSPA a feeling that they fought for and got an increase ( however "derisory" ). It could be enough to satisfy the Commission Seeker's fee.
  6. Steve Shovlar wrote "There is bound to be some form of intransigence but both parties want a deal. BT to fill a gap in their summer schedules which will allow them to sell advertising and subscriptions, and the BSPA to showcase their product." and " They know, before negotiations have actually started, what price they will be prepared to go up to. Anything less than this is good." There is much more at stake for the BSPA and I feel certain that BT will not up the offer by very much. I know we'll see. but I think any increase will be less 25%. IF there is an increased offer. And the BSPA would be lucky to get that, for what they have on offer.
  7. I don't think any fans currently attending speedway ( or even following from their armchair with the SS ) are "keen " to see tracks close. They just want to see the sport run more effectively and offer good VFM racing on track. IF it is for some promoters "an expensive power game" they must be very wealthy to run it in such an ineffective manner,
  8. Critics posting on here do not know the ins and outs of the BSPA negotiations - but looking at it from afar can only , if we are being kind say the BSPA lack much business acumen and others can only sit here rocking with laughter and mocking their apparently Keystone Cops ineptitude. As I do. Where is THE Deal Machine ( Mr Russell ) in all this, is he doing the negotiations? If not who is the promoter/ s entrusted with it? Even less clarity than usual. If Promoters run speedway as their toy then none of this matters because if the BT negotiations break down - the BSPA will be able to say " Huh, we saw them off" .
  9. It is the ultimate fantasy for some people. They may not be able to afford to be the Chairman of Manchester United ( or whoever in the Premier football league ) - but to be at the helm of sporting enterprise for only a few thousand every year AND play a part in major decisions about that sport must be thrilling and uplifting ( even fulfilling ) for those of that bent. We all have dreams.
  10. I cannot imagine where you dreamt up that I would be delighted by the closure of Newcastle ( or any club ). You will not find such "delight" in any post I have made. I have heard it said that you can be trusted ( but not all of your posts are balanced shall we say ) and as for imagining that anyone posts on here, to to acquire "importance" is beyond delusional. Why would someone "trust a jest"? Jest's indicate a humorous take on something, that's all. I wish Newcastle Speedway well ( sincerely ). If any club goes out of business because it is not viable financially, that is a great pity. But it happens.
  11. MattK wrote " The fact that Holder's averages in Poland and the UK are similar (7.09 v 7.16) only shows that Holder had a poor season in the UK, not that he is on the way down." That is one way of looking at it. but you have to have faith and hope that in 2018 his drooping average does not turn into an alarming slide.
  12. exceedingly naughty dantheman - you are urged to be more patient and all will be well ( me too )
  13. Tsunami has spoken. You can trust him, he used to be a promoter. Please, all interested parties pause for for the current Promoter to tell us in his own good time. My revised suggestion of the 1st January 2108 was proposed in a benevolent manner. I note that no-one outside of the Newcastle area should be interested in or concerned about what happens there. Sounds like the usual parochial nature that is speedway in the UK.
  14. Today's the day then? Or as it's speedway lets re-set it to Jan 1st 2018. Still plenty of time to start team building.
  15. I hope that the bleating promoters are not paying £10,000 per match to watch this speedway. If they are then, they must be so wealthy that their £250,000 a year losses are a mere pinprick in their vast wealth ( in which case why not have lots more fans watching at £10 a head? ) If they are not so well off then they must be daft or financial masochists!
  16. Fit in body AND in mind. He is a volatile character prone to "losing it". 2018 is a genuine make or break year for him.
  17. While BSPA are huffing and puffing to "Big Up" GB Speedway, they must surely be in deep discussion with the other two or three broadcasters eager to televise speedway?
  18. I was reliably informed that it is 20%. So yes 80% is worth having but someone who truly cares about the sport might have considered waiving their fee now the Sky deal has ended. Hmmmm.
  19. A % age and has creamed enough off in the last 15 years. Will he still get the same % age or switch , cannily, to a fixed fee to ensure that his share in not reduced?
  20. Yes, why should he lose out on job - it was the promoters who let him ride for both sides in a two legged final last season. And by doing that they showed that each match is just a fun event for the local fans and is entirely contrived. No one should take it seriously.
  21. There is very little difference between the standards of the PL and the CH - expect for a very few individual riders. But it's just an "entertainment" - a series of one off events and not a professional sport, so it hardly matters.
  22. Yes it is a truly difficult task and that makes it so hard to understand why some promoters seem so unwilling listen to the ideas and feedback of supporters ( many of whom have business experience ). That insistence on "we know best and its our money anyway" persists - when all sides working together to make the best of UK speedway, for all to enjoy and that allows less money to be "burned", would likely bring a better sport all round.
  23. But it was only 2/6 to get in or shilling for juniors, with kids free!
  24. No, there just wasn't enough space on the beermat they were writing on, when the rule was written down, to include the word "current".
