  1. I am not able to travel to away meetings, so should I boycott watching it on BT to make a stand? It's not televised speedway that is dragging down UK racing, it's no brainer promoters who live in 1975. Speedway is about the only sport which claims that being televised is "bad" for it. I greatly enjoy most televised speedway meetings because I prefer to watch the replays and be informed about what has happened during the meeting - instead of the "over in a flash" incidents and total lack of information after the race except about who was first, second or third ( which of course we were able to see anyway ). I would never suggest that it's no-brainer to watch live or on TV each to his or her own. More tracks will close down in the UK, but not because of race meetings on TV.
  2. 500 max. is my estimate. A much better view on TV anyway.
  3. I don't believe that anything nor anyone will ever have them flocking through the turnstiles again in the UK. At least not without a root and branch re-organisation of how speedway is promoted here.
  4. One they seem to like! Well they haven't gone on strike about it yet.
  5. What then does a "loss" constitute?
  6. So many Promoters, Team Managers and other staff prefer to be at the GP, wherever it may be. Riders too.
  7. Same old, same old and that will be how it trundles along until the end is no longer nigh, but has actually come!
  8. I suspect that he remains a loose cannon because he is a Man with a Plan ( allegedly ) and no one has a better one at the BSPA. And they know the job is a poisoned chalice.
  9. In that case I bet he goes better than usual - if he is not arrested.
  10. Did the BSPA actually buy a lot of GTR engines or agree to do so, if the demand was there? Is there a big shed full of them gently rusting away?
  11. Aha! he sussed it out that some fans would try to struggle in very difficult questions, perhaps even some embarrassing ones. Without Rob Godfrey there to back him up there might have been a series of " I'll have to get back to you on that one" answers.
  12. I think the NOT!!! added to the thread title with three exclamation marks suggests they were let down without good reason, at the last moment. The post saying it's off would more likely have said unless it was something very private.
  13. Were any animals harmed in the making of this? It looks as a squirrel was forced to squat there.
  14. I found it in my boot, I think it's the other blokes!
  15. Sadly that merely highlights that Buster is, was and will remain a law unto himself. Answerable to no-one. When he stands down ( unless like Putin and Xi he intends to rule forever ) will he just harangue and pester from the sidelines, as he did before he was elected as Chairperson?
  16. Look on Twitter ( not that I can or do ) but that is where team news seems to break. Media priorities? Critical news, who is in for NKI EDP newspaper said it's r/r at Rye House which will i feel weaken the team. Why was it not on the Stars website I wonder, all off to the GP perhaps.
  17. Put me down for £10 on Jason Doyle to win or at least get on the podium.
  18. Those who believe that "all is well" and only praise the hard work and commitment of speedway promoters are looking through rose tinted glasses. Emperors New Clothes syndrome. Only by looking at how the sport is run in the UK objectively and taking on a wide range of points of view, about what is wrong and how that can be improved, will positive change ever happen. With that could come a new generation of fans ( and the return of some of those who have walked away ). What ailing business would ignore feedback and not find a way to use that information to change for the better? Look at how things change in the High Street or with any retail operation. Burying heads in the sand and "carrying on regardless" is the way to extinction.
  19. If only someone would tell us just how much the BSPA did invest in the GTR. If it was substantial it was the last throw of the dice with Sky TV cash. And seemingly a wasted one.
  20. It was on Channel 95 last night Freesports and I greatly enjoyed the Polish match and to some extent the Swedish live match. Dave Goddard said it's on next week and he should know! Is PremierSport something different?
  21. Good that the news was released by the club as a part of their new "keep the fans informed". Let's hope it doesn't cause anyone to give it the Somerset match a miss. And can we have the team lineups on Monday? And will any other Danish riders be missing and riding in their homeland? A full Stars team will pull in a better crowd I am sure.
