"A let's try this, it might work " attitude prevails without thinking it through or listening to, or even asking for fan's feedback .

And that is what has been happening to speedway at all levels ( perhaps excepting Poland, although their lower divisions are often very poorly supported ) The club tribalism has been the saviour of the ExtraL. plus the huge piles of money from strange sources inc. public money. And in Britain the last 20 years have been mismanaged to the point where a revival is unlikely - merely further decline awaits. Very little is thought through. Speedway has disappeared from public view in the UK, forgotten almost entirely by the sports media ( except for BT - Thank You! ). "Everybody makes mistakes " yes, but Every Time? And I don't mean P&T.

I really like Dave Goddard's style and he does it solo. Just about right.

The attendance was poor yesterday. Possibly around 2,000? What does anyone else think? The two day Final must sell out if they are only selling two day tickets. But if you live some way away you might not bother to go to the 1st day I suppose. Watch it on TV, as I do and greatly enjoy it as I do for the GPs, as I can't get there and can't afford to if I could. Not that there was much to enjoy yesterday.

If this is the best that Armando C. can lead the FIM to, the sport is really down the pan. There should at least be a bonus point for the race winner to add to the counting, when it comes to crunch time.

But it introduces young new speedway nations, who otherwise would not get on the world stage, they said. But who are they that are worth watching? Where are they? Next year have teams of one rider and nearly every country has a second string who could proudly take their place.

And the sport of speedway will be the overall loser of course as this is paint drying stuff. Pairs racing is beyond most of these guys, who are used to gate and go matches. No but a decent human being would apologise in person ( at least via a telephone call ) and give some explanation for their absence along with a reason, as well as offering to do the booking sometime in the future. Nothing new in that. 75% of races now are a turn off after 1 lap. We could try 50 ONE lap races? Possibly more exciting when new fans realised that starting and taking the first two turns are nearly all that counts anyway. In UK league racing at least.

Presumably the pair coming in 2nd and 3rd are really 1st then? As you were told "team" then it's correct - the two Poles following Woffy to the line really have won.

They know that hordes of fans in Poland and Sweden are young and have 20 /20 vision and we all know that the dinosaur fans are being phased out ( naturally). Is that anyone who saw a race before 1980 now or 1970?

This competition seems to contain all that is gloriously futile for it to be looked on as a professional sport. Unless we are saying This event is a pairs competition and so the result of the pair is more important than the winning rider of the final. Surely it's better to have no semi final and final and just let every pair have five races? Or even better score 4/3/2/1. The barminess of speedway.

This must settle it? And expose it as a joke competition. Thankfully the rest of the world won't know about it.

World Champion V Lambo. Plus it looked likely to be close. That was a powerful attraction to existing fans ( bet there were very few, if any, newbies ). Free cheese on your chips or mushy peas at half price won't do much to boost the crowd.

So is a 3 - 3 a draw and how do you decide on the winners? Do you have another final as a run off and ad infinitum until you get a 4 - 2 or a 5 - 1? Why is it never clear and simple in speedway?

I am sure Cook will put on a good show around the NSS but in Poland it will be another story. Woffinden, Lambert , Bewley would have been better all round. And shown the way forward that we have two great U21 riders.
