World Championship Pairs

I might have missed it, but do we know what the justification was for a two day Final? Was it just to give a four meeting bundle to the TV contract re the WTC? Does anybody know? Or rather, is anyone who does know. prepared to tell us? -

When you thirst for power, you promise anything that people want. When you get in power you do as you think fit , in the way you prefer and end up just like those who went before you. -

Yes they do but very few of them drink the contents they display so prominently. Or even wash down their bikes with them. -

Rooboy to manage Team Great Britain? Perhaps the right attitude but his heart lies far away and despite the paperwork, he will always be an Aussie through and through. -

Even given a choice which clearly was a "no brainer" ( over FRNs ) the BSPA got it wrong! No wonder some us truly just can't believe how they have not bankrupted their own businesses, in the same way they have brought UK speedway to it's knees. It will soon be a chalk mark on the floor, like the stereo typical thriller corpse. It won't take Sherlock Holmes to work out what went wrong. -

Easy Peasy - check with the KL Stars club website , late afternoon on the 12/6/18 and no doubt all will be made clear. They hardly ever let you down. -
I still believe, and yes I know that many fan's don't, that live streaming of UK league matches is financially viable and indeed profitable. Pay Per View works in other sports. It does not have to be BT standard broadcast and there is no need to hire T&P . I would pay for such a facility and dream of the day when one club will launch that - even as a trial.. It's something that the BSPA could and should have tried as admissions and travelling costs have soared.

It looked about half full. Not bad considering it was a Tuesday and far from cheap for tickets. Plus the lineup was uninspiring but a couple of the lesser lights did much better than expected in one or two races. -

It's only a fact the day before the match when KLS tells you. Until then it's fiction that may well come true. -

If fans are not watching the football or a replay of a BGT round they could watch One Man & His Dog / Tractor at the AFA. I think the attendance could be well down. -

There was there no way that Buster could have known that the Premier League would end up riding on Mon and Weds and not Mon and Thursday? It certainly won't be Buster's fault will it? He is renowned as a track maestro, not a tactical maestro. We will know at least 24 hours before the match via the Stars website how many of the Stars team are missing. Some will be in Denmark and some will still be on the injury list. What was first put forward as extensive physio for NKI turned into an operation, which involves a very different recovery period ( even for a speedway rider ). -

It was definitely posted that P&T plus Quirk " commentate for well below the going rate for UK premier League matches". . That may be right or wrong but it was posted. It also that they did so because they wanted to boost UK speedway. It was never suggested that they did the GP's or the SON for peanuts - Loadsa money for those I suspect. -

That's all we needed to know. Hopefully we will see some plum heats then. -

Simply the Best! Or must be one of, at the very least. Tomasz you remain a legend for your on track exploits. Thank you for the memories. I hope all tonight's riders have seen it and dream of pulling it off. -

That's speedway UK style too! And is a big part of what has driven fans away in despair. Far too amateurish and mired in the 1950's which has dimmed my Love Affair with the sport for sure. -

If he had obtained a doctors certificate 48 hours later and then that would have ruled him our for seven days, he could not be legally ride tonight. The plot thickens. Poorly advised it seems. -
Unfortunately I do think that all who are watching are diehards including the many thousands who have walked away from watching matches in the stadiums ( probably more of them than those who still attend UK matches ). The only casual fans are likely to be channel hopping for a bit of sport excitement and they won't know anything about speedway and believe quite reasonably that the bikes have gears and brakes. They will likely be looking for a crash or two thinking it might be stockcar on two wheels.

Today's the day! The SON could easily be transformed by the quality of the racing and the desire of the riders ( and possibly their knowledge of what Pairs racing is all about ). Fingers crossed that we all marvel later tonight and tomorrow. at having had more than a few glimpses of the the true excitement of what speedway can offer as a sport! That's Life, That's Speedway. -
I hope they get in at the concessions rate ( if not free ). They must have had to pay at Rye House though.

Thank goodness then that we do have these saner minds in charge of Team GB Speedway. -

Very possibly because Armando C. hypnotised all the other FIM panel members into believing it was the best thing possible for bringing on the "lesser" nations. -
A pity then that some promoters don't share their point of view. Those who were firmly against TV coverage as well as those who charge full price for admission to televised meetings. It does no good to have a positive Pearson,Quirk and Tatum there live and hardly anyone else in the stadium watching ( as at Rye House last week ) PQ&T must be gutted by that.
-
The on track racing only please with a brief audio and text info. So yes, show a whole meeting in that sense. It is the other parts of a meeting which usually fail to impress. Even the boring "from the gate" heats only last a minute at most.
-
But then the Rye House promotion took the decision that it would be full price admission for the televised match and we saw less than 500 people watching a "high profile" speedway match. It should have been heaving! Lost opportunity there.

Nor have sufficient imagination to devise changes that benefit the sport. Fan feedback is futile, however positive ( it's all taken as criticism, which always hurts the thin skinned ).
