  1. Going black and white as an economy move? It would be sensible. Or should I say monochrome?
  2. I can't see Buster and Garrity getting on for long. He is ( Garrity ) very talented but crash prone and apparently argumentative and not Robert Lambert's best friend allegedly. Someone on the inside will know. Any Worrall would do for me - is one free?
  3. Sounds like the end of the world scenario is on the way for UK speedway. And the week after that please print what the BSPA have come up with.
  4. Existing promoters will never "relinquish control" because they would be giving up control of their own finances and investments. Someone has to put to them a structure that is credible and that they will continue to try to run with. No other options exist ( except that one of winning £150,000,000 on the lottery buying them all out and throwing your winnings away that way ). Only the existing promoters can decide whether to pack it in or re-shuffle the cards again.
  5. That sounds about right because the whole house of cards will collapse then, due to lack of support and that is the way of the survival of the fittest / most popular sports - no different to the rest of the evolving universe. I quite like the idea of riders racing for a prize money pot, with the right incentives they might really race for it. But how many riders would be up for it? No teams at all. No league speedway. Is there an appetite for that? A speedway circus.
  6. I think that once more Buster just wants to "see this season out" and then Onwards and Upwards in the new re-structured UK speedway league scene 2019 ( whatever it may be ). And he expects the supporters to go along with it - again.
  7. That is a good summing of how the last 20 years have been run ( if that is a word that could be applied to what has gone on ). Locked in a little bubble that only they know about AND foolishly they believe they are "doing their best". The SS gets it right this time!
  8. We can hardly blame Sky for the inability of the BSPA to maximise on what was a wonderful marketing opportunity - wrapped up in a Big Bundle of Cash. Instead, they just took the money and lay back to dream of a glorious future suddenly arriving. Lucky winners were those No.1s who got the majority of it.
  9. Pearson and Tatum do a wonderful job of polishing the faeces that is UK league speedway. I sincerely mean that, but as a long time fan it is very easy to see through and probably not difficult for the uninitiated to get either.
  10. Looks as if Kasper is the allegedly stronger rider than Simon Lambert. Do you know, on the evidence of his completed ride last week that is probably true. Does not say much for Lambert's "strength" in the meantime though. It could all be brighter IF the replacement for Lewis Kerr is an ambitious one. We will be told in "due course" - 24 hours before the next home match?
  11. Worst news I would have hoped to hear. Sad, as he has had many opportunities to reach a required standard in the PL and has never done well enough to be brought back - until the "next time" cover is required. Just to have 4 riders in a race then? Feeble team "building", however nice & friendly he is.
  12. But will even Cookie put new bums on seats ( or feet on the terraces ) or even old ones returning, for more than a week or two?
  13. That is a perfect analogy. And we all know what eventually happens to fish out of water. They can go on living or appearing to live for quite a long time. Someone else on here said we are unlikely to see speedway as it is in the UK beyond 2020. That is probably right.
  14. Just trying my best to be patient, knowing that they have the best interests of the sport at heart and are actively seeking creative ways out of the crisis the UK speedway faces.
  15. Sounds ponderous and reflects how in recent years KLS has not been quick off the mark. A remarkable result would be if Robin Brundle could influence the visa issues and enable the club to re-sign Chris Holder. He is hungry now and would be well, " coming home"
  16. That is the case and the reason why we see so little of it nowadays. Modern bikes allow for full throttle on or throttle full off.
  17. So the General Council of the BSPA has met. We await with excitement the Press Release containing the key points in the meeting. Should be good to read.
  18. Spot on Leics V Poole blew that out of the water and will remain a classic ( for a variety of reasons ) for a long time to come.
  19. It was Gate & Go and so strung out that mostly the others not first or second had clearly no intention of trying to keep up or even give an impression of doing so. 70% from the tapes to the flag. Even Tatum said, "passing is at a premium here". And it was.
  20. It seems clear that the problem in Poland is not a lack of fans but the ridiculous level of payment they make to riders. At a £1,000 a point even with a 10,000 crowd you barely pay the wages bill. Home & Away. Poles are paying less than £10 to get in, we have been told.
  21. He just took his idea of what makes a great cycle speedway track and sized it up. Forgot all about speedway being a motorised sport and how they might pass. But then he got so much wrong about how to be a promoter,?didn't he.
  22. I couldn't quite read that BB. Please make it bigger.
