  1. I suspect there will be in Poland and Sweden for some time to come because the promoters there are not so incompetent as the BSPA in the UK. But I take your point.
  2. We are all different and enjoy different aspects of the same things - in this case, a good speedway race. I have almost given up on sitting and watching speedway in the fresh air because there is no sense of urgency about getting on with the meeting ( at King's Lynn at least ). The Tuesday night racing on Freesports is usually much better than what I see here. I would happily pay for Pay Per View broadcasts of UK away meetings ( accepting that it is not going to be to a BT standard ) if only the BSPA had gotten on with organising what could possibly be a good income stream.
  3. That was how he came across to supporters and the promotion at King's Lynn last season. Petulant. I agree with his comments about many tracks but you either have to give up riding speedway in the UK or learn how not to throw your toys out of the pram on a seemingly regular basis. The tracks are a major problem to decent racing in this country as are over powerful bikes and then rider attitude re if not making the start -why bother racing , when he can just chase a bit for four laps.
  4. Its obvious and buoyed up by the very, very odd 69th Anniversary meeting - don't you think?
  5. I think you will find there is an -ist law about the people from Norfolk being "strong in the arm and thick in the head " and Norfolk&Good etc. Most of the inbreeding that brought this Victorian urban myth into the open has been diluted ( except in a very few isolated rural places ). Having been born only three miles out of Norwich I should know!
  6. Naturally, that would be a wise thing for them do except that they don't do "wise". Except in the sense of being wise after the event.
  7. Never! the BSPA have proved incapable of listening or learning. Until they stand amid the smouldering ruins of what was UK speedway, possibly even then they will just wonder " why, how did it go wrong when we tried so hard".
  8. The worrying thing is that so few fans were there to watch it. Well matched riders competing is what so many claim they want to see but when they have the chance, it's not so attractive. A worrying thing if the mooted one league of semi-pro riders of around the same ability level are involved in 2019.
  9. Sure to be a lot of Glasgow V Poole fixtures in the future. Not at all sure which other teams might be joining them in a league. All the money in the world is of no use if you don't have sufficient opponents to race against.
  10. Barrel assumed to be full of water. Shock Horror! It turns out to be oil. Nobody knew it was there.
  11. However in the alternative real world, that promoters often fail to see, is that a further dilution of the product and an increase in admission prices will certainly result in yet another drop in attendances. If the customers don't want to buy the product at the price it is offered at - they won't. And the shop closes down.
  12. If oil has been used to bind the shale on a regular basis, not during a match, it is still an environmental offence and I hope a large fine ( rather than points deducted ) is the deserved punishment. To put oil on the track after a match in front of supporters shows a total disregard for them and is a further display by a promoter that they feel they can "do as they want".
  13. That's my memory of years gone by too and not through rose tinted spectacles. It was much more unpredictable ( especially for the minor places ) and a lot of great races resulted. Now it is over in 150 metres ( halfway through the first lap ) and very strung out and boring for 75% of the time. So boring that I am ready to walk away and don't feel that I would miss it much.
  14. Seems quite likely to happen. How hard would Schlein try if riding for GB against Australia? With no Doyle and no Lambert ( for various reasons ) it looks more and more like a Championship lineup. Issue the teams , as known today please. We know that riders can be injured at any time so why do we not know of the "squad" members?
  15. Who is riding? What are the team lineups? The Glasgow website nor the Great Britain Speedway Team have them listed as of this morning.
  16. Why it is not a rule I cannot understand.
  17. It might be better is some did close down, sooner rather than later. because if they all "hang on" it is going to drag out the dying of UK speedway even longer and more painfully. Lets end up with 12 - 14 or however few that intend to make a serious go of one league. Close down or drop to CL level.
  18. Thank you for sharing that with us, really. We often hear nothing of "why or why not". Assuming that that is what Riss said ( perhaps he talked about it differently but meant the same! )
  19. It certainly is and is the main reason that is driving me away. Unless the reserves are changed or improved ASAP. the forward thrust of the team recently will be lost. NKI may or may not recover his form / fitness but he has always been consistent in recent years and is not at the moment. Coupled with poor reserves that is a big hole in team's scoring power.
  20. The deafening silence from the BSPA doesn't help fans who are trying to make constructive suggestions. Of course, they control the purse strings and will do what they believe is best for their business ( not necessarily what is best for the sport in the UK ). The biggest problem is that they consistently show that what they come up with is a failure.
  21. Only interested in 13 heat matches if the cost is £9.99 ( or less ) and matches, without on-track problems, are finished in 75 mins ( as they should be ) so that those not interested in meaningless 2nd halves can get away if they so choose, as you suggest. Never much was unless the Next Great Thing was riding. Crisply run meetings seem to be high on the agenda of many fans ( definitely myself ). Not my first choice for speedway's next change of direction. which should be one upper league of 14 tracks running over 15 heats ( as now ) . Crisply run of course with no need for a 10 minute plus wait for heat 15.
  22. Spot on! We cannot afford ( in whatever way you use the word ) to carry on paying out the top whack for riders. The UK speedway scene is in great peril and unless the BSPA are ruthless and brave over the next few months there will be nothing recognisable left of the sport in the UK for any fans to watch.
  23. I know that there is more than 24 hours to go, but the KLS website fails to mention who is riding ie team lineups. I realise that most of the management are racing back from Germany, but it would be nice to think about those UK bound fans and do more than exhort them to come to the 3rd home meeting in a week. With a friend who they cannot tell who he or she will be watching. What is the point of a club website if club news is not on it promptly?
  24. Anyone genuinely losing interest in the sport in which they have a serious level of influence / control, should resign with immediate effect. That sport is in major decline and needs open-minded senior officers, Both the Chairman and Vice- Chairman should resign now " in the best interests of the sport".
