  1. Get the track right and the fans will be happy, there will then be no whingers I feel sure.
  2. Ben Fund Donation via the online Paypal facility: I made a donation earlier this morning and got a curious Error message and cannot clarify if everything is OK with that link. Or even if my donation went through. If anyone has done this recently and had a similar problem please let me know. It was just odd and a little suspicious.
  3. It would be interesting to know how many were sold through the BSPA arrangement. Does anyone have any idea?
  4. Nothing that the paying punters have been made aware of has been changed, but those "in the know" are fully informed it seems.
  5. They can think again and again AND again but they are not the right brains to come up with something that will aid the viability of UK speedway. Both should retire to the "country" and tend to their own clubs - become backbenchers at the BSPA. They can then carp from the sidelines as they did before they were given the chance to be "glorious leaders of the new era" ( Mark Xlll ).
  6. This is a great opportunity for speedway to draw on existing fans from Lakeside AND from Rye House - PLUS we hope, new ( or returning) people interested in speedway racing per se and not only those with club loyalties. Fingers crossed.
  7. I am sure most of us agree with this and Jenga's comments are invariably OTT and some are libellous with a doubt. Magic stuff! Jenga is an anchor ( just add your own W at the start of the word ). He can give it out but not take it. Pity he was not banned for life from Workington. Wa Wa Wa - all the way home then, for sure.
  8. I can't see that any channel is broadcasting this live. R&R has not mentioned it and as for me - if only I could, I would happily pay on Pay Per View. No need to be BT broadcast quality as the Swedish matches are mostly only two camera ( or even one ) jobs and are perfectly watchable and enjoyable.
  9. Ronnie has watched a lot of matches all over the place and even some videos during the winter. He will have a good idea of what might be needed.
  10. Tactical secrets like that are the foundation stones of speedway. Telling all and sundry about Michael's fitness or machinery could allow any weakness to be worked on in the next match to the team's disadvantage. I am sure that at Team manager Training School that is lesson 2.
  11. Hopefully, this will the yardstick used for any 2019 league set up. If it is 2 x 14 team leagues with no doubling down and is devoid of the cream of 2018 ( who no club can truly afford ) it might hold the current supporters ( and even bring back some supporters like myself ) whether it can attract new supporters I feel much more uncertain ( without better marketing in some way that is affordable ). Big name teams as in Sweden - do attract better crowds but failed to do so here in the Sky money days.
  12. Can we now assume that this is a definite GO? And a new track and a new stadium will be in existence for next April? Or is it more Who knows? Alongside the new houses, it would have a lot of use restrictions, I feel sure.
  13. Every other KL team member has had more than a few off night's this season inc. Niels. This is only Robert's 2nd blemish in a season where he has been an exceptional rider for the Stars. And for GB. We were lucky to have him in the team as it appeared that he was happy to go elsewhere before the season began. He has given his all in a professional way. I don't think he is yet over the hill.
  14. Is it not time to have a new thread - something like Lakeside On The Move? I am not mocking the sadness of those fans who do not want it to happen but the Lakeside venue seems lost forever.
  15. Madness but the kind of decision you see from Promoters and Team Managers who do not care about the future of the sport. They see a shiny cup and a "forever" listing as Simply the Best for 2018. Sad. Playoff matches should be run on tracks prepared to offer good, fair racing with all riders ready to give it a go. NOT Gate & Go. Such matches could even attract new fans for 2019 and the inevitable " New Era".
  16. If this is from someone on "the inside" there clearly is little hope for the kind of radical change needed to ensure the sport does continue in the way that current supporters will go on supporting. Is UK speedway a kind of vanity project with benevolent, wealthy promoters underwriting it? Their unwillingness to work together ( seemingly ) or uncover the man or woman who can take them in a sustainable direction in the short term ( and build for the medium term ). Fans have turned away from what they see on track as well as the " good of the sport" decisions syndrome ( which is often laughable and of course unexplained ). The Chairman should step down as he has been increasingly invisible, as should the Deputy Chairman. Their leadership era has only made everything worse and has improved virtually nothing. They have failed perhaps for a variety of reasons, but they have failed, as have all of the leadership of the last 20 years. They failed to capitalise on the Sky years and find other major sponsors. What is shown on BT is mostly excrable racing on trick tracks in grotty 1950's stadiums with hardly anyone watching on. With one or two exclusions. BT may be happy with the viewing figures but it is not an edifying sight nor one which is attracting the general public nor sponsors. If anything it shows that Pay Per View could have been a success and may still be.
  17. "It is what it is" is a shrewd reply and a clever one from Woffy. It could be the stinking, putrid, corrupt mess that it was. Or it could be an acceptance of things working out as they will. One view gets punished the other one is seen as thoughtfully reflective.
  18. That is precisely what has happened, partially due to those who promote speedway not changing their ways or looking at what the customer would like. The general public of the UK is disinterested in speedway and has turned it's back and walked away. I genuinely doubt whether it can be turned around, even to the point of being viable enough to carry on as it is with enough diehard fans.
  19. It seems that it is unlikely that all the highest averaging riders in the PL will be racing in UK leagues next season. If so, it is easy enough to reduce overall team strengths. After all changing the name to Premier League didn't result in a doubling of attendances at all PL clubs did it? If there is a lower level all round that should hold the crowds at present levels but is unlikely to boost them much. Might get rid of doubling down.
  20. Or even perhaps another opportunity to lower one's average for 2019. A massive home win then?
  21. Thank the Lord for "nerds" - Truly. Collectors of information on the sport we still are foolishly addicted to, are always of interest. As the start is absolutely vital ( at least in 80% of races ) more should be done to make them much more alike and fairer. Something as simple as suggested - men with rakes should be possible but concrete starting areas would also help ( because there are good gardeners and poor gardeners ). Little is ever done to improve the spectacle of racing including the possibility of passing only faster bikes ( on less adequate tracks in many stadia ).
  22. Of course, they won't "sort it out" they never do ( unless they make things worse ). The organisers steam blindly on with the Emperor's New Clothes syndrome as their yardstick. Everything is well in the world of speedway, is the cry!
  23. NO! Definitely not in it's current guise ( or even another one much like it ). But we ( the fans ) are never going to get a say about it unless and until clubs run out of medium-sized sponsors.
