Poole v Kings Lynn. 11/4/2019 Shield 2nd leg
waytogo28 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That's how it's always been done. Why change something just because it's broken? ( That is not a typing error ). -
What matters more is the VFM people take away from a match and last night it was pointed out that there were only two races worthy of the name ( V Stars ) and that means watching a race costs around £9. That is what is killing speedway - not enough racing, passing, thrills and on track excitement. 8 out of 10 races nowadays are boring tapes to flag jobs. Race over in less than half a lap.

Go Lambo Go. The Firestarter kickstarted his 2019. The world is your lobster ( not an oyster man ). -
And look where that got them - they got beaten from time to time! (TIC). I have the DVD brilliant stuff. So all those who say rose-tinted spectacles worn by sad old geezers is how we view the past can take a running jump.

You mean the top five from Poole go off 15 metres? Cracking meeting giving the Stars half a chance and making it all much more entertaining. -
Pretty much spot on.
-
Worth a punt then in his next outing? Knobhead is sure to be running or writing again soon. The same qualities we loved in Darcy are there somewhere but we do not see them at the moment. Will we see them again?
-
Were you really expecting UK speedway to be capable of making a silk purse out of a pig's ear? We will see of course but such hurried changes, unless very well thought through were unlikely to produce a mini NSS.
-
Our glory days are over - for the foreseeable future ( 10 -15 years at least ). The huge challenge is to survive for the next 10 years and keep 70% of the current clubs running. Journeyman riders are expecting and getting far too much for doubling up and that is not the future because the on-track racing value has so diminished. Major structural changes will have to be made to costs and what is offered up as racing entertainment before the tide of falling attendances turns ( it is can be turned). Riders, like all of us, will go on taking what they can squeeze out of promoters, that is human nature. Even Tai Woffinden riding regularly here for a UK team would make no difference after the first few meetings. I am someone who would love to see him do that but he could not pull in enough new fans to make it viable.

20 years ago there were many more clubs, league fixtures and at least 50% more regular paying supporters on the UK terraces, so I am not quite sure what the better shape is. Thinner? It isn't better quality racing, not from where I have been standing anyway. As for a Barry Hearne type figure, I can't think anyone would appear as there is no way to make promoting UK speedway profitable again. Is it Buster Chapman, when he increases his ownership to 8 - 10 clubs? Do you know, although I do not like his operating methods, he could be the saviour by cutting down costs and increasing the likelihood of semi-pro racing here if he did increase his holdings? No-one else is likely to do anything like that unless some 70 year old diehard fan wins £100 million on the Euro lottery and wants to blow it on wine, women ( or men ), song and speedway. Instead of doing something useful with it!
-
I can't see any professional speedway running in the UK in 20 years time. Possibly semi-pro but more likely another defunct UK sport. With a fanbase now so low there is nowhere it can go other than down.

Forbidden thoughts nowadays ( but delicious nevertheless ) we are allowed to look up to women only for their talents and abilities. No other reason is permitted it seems. Read Proverbs 31 to see a view of womanhood.
-
All too predictable in 80% of races. First out of the second bend ( first time around ) wins nearly all the time. Woffinden IS the best ever British rider.
-
I did not realise that the scale of changes at Swindon were on the same level as those involved in building a whole new stadium to hold 50,000 plus. If that is so, then yes a week is nothing. If we don't get a brand-damaging opening night a week later.
-
Now it's treble up then. Or maybe just Buster's new idea of Drop In and Ride Where You Like lads ( and when you like ). TIC a little.

Less than 20.

Blooming heck Webby. You are a man of mature years and stable temperament. You should have long ago sussed it that we do live in a strange world and with some strange people. Speaking the truth is often unwelcome to those who have delusions ( or their own agenda ). -

Get the lad in! He cannot do less than Kasper and is going to do as well as Simon Lambert, who is past his best, Fresh new capable faces please ( capable of improving that is ). -

Hoi! You forgot about the DENNIS's. I have been following the Stars since they moved from Norwich ( and since Ove Fundin pushed his bike from Thorpe Station up to the Firs -he must have been fit )! I was even going to be mug enough to go last night but neither of my regular chauffers were going so I had to suffer it on Updates. You are right, last year was an exception and we are in our former role of also-rans. Last year was our Worky year! But we could not cross over the line. That is King's Lynn Speedway..... -

I see the tone of the early part of the season being set with a narrow home defeat. We will then see the nature of the promotion in sticking with who they have signed ( by the end of May ) or making necessary changes. Hmmm. -
Seemingly all the time he was not on the bike. All the gifts he was given as a person appear to have been with regard to riding a speedway bike.
-
All riders at his level do improve, some just a little - some to a reasonable level and others become international class. I don't see many signs of huge potential or improvement despite Kasper's tender years.
-
Rumours and Fake News abound when the truth is denied to the people.
-
Not liking it as it seems at the moment. Onwards and Upwards may be a dream for Andersen but someone somewhere believes in him. Sadly I don't.

Now THAT's Speedway racing! Four or five times in every match and the crowds would be flocking back in the UK. It tends to be a rarity here ( once a week if you're lucky or you watch your racing at the NSS ). Magical and entrancing Magic.
