  1. Likely to become an instant hero with five crisp starts.
  2. Likely to scare off some punters. And club websites are notorious for not keeping up with the moving world ( or they wait on Pearson to have time to update them ).
  3. I feel compelled to add " And as we all grudgingly accept".
  4. Gate and Go ( as ever at this GP ). Only the Very Bravest of the Brave could get by. Salute the victor!
  5. Not far off cheaper to get a BT subscription and watch all the other matches for the same cost! Another illustration of how the true meaning of "promoter " has been lost in the mists of time. As for the term marketing - well!
  6. And all that success is seemingly worthless as MF has something which no-one wants to buy ( except possibly Buster Chapman at a knockdown price ). As he has taken so much cash out of the club over the years, when the terraces were heaving, he turned out to be another who never bothered to at least maintain his track reasonably. As for saying how much you lost on a recent match - how is that going to attract a buyer ( except the aforementioned Buster with £10k in his pocket)? Do UK speedway clubs have any value except to a gambler like Buster? But when the New Dawn era finally arrives all will be well - do you think?
  7. I watched again but remain unconvinced that it has any substantial bearing on what happens in the following GP. Perhaps Zagar summed it up correctly. Until we see a rider or two actually gain an advantage from being in the top few of qualifying, it remains as not adding much value. It just gives riders a chance to say "I am happy with the track" - even though they are likely far from so and the gating fest it provides! The only added value is if a GP point was given to the fastest qualifier.
  8. The sound of our collective clamour was too insubstantial for promoters of such "height" to hear. Lofty perches and all that! It may be some years before our glorious Chairman may be able to hear. By which time it really will be too late!
  9. Jollies, blazers, dinners, trophies etc. The formal face of motorcycle sport. Occasional " court" to hold a rider to account for some misdemeanour. But toothless in the face of other powerful influences of course.
  10. Those of Buster's disciples who are still able to shout into his ear ( and who then might be heard faintly ), please continue with this mantra. Anything to improve the quality of racing at Saddlebow Rd is most welcome.
  11. Buster's Poppets - nice, kind, smiling front of house people.
  12. Regardless of his co-promoter/s ( or frontman ) at each of his tracks. It is Buster who makes these strengthening up decisions at his three tracks.
  13. KL are already a very different team, with the addition of Cook and soon Riss will be back. If they can't get into the top four ( of a pitiful seven ) with that team then I will be stunned.
  14. If their peak avatars are riding then, Hey it could be a hell of a battle on that track.
  15. Can't imagine that the Buster "Monster" would even contemplate a portion of humble pie. I am in the camp of those who believe it was a planned outcome all along ( since Buster took over the three clubs ). Thus "The Monster Deal Maker" on the chessboard of UK speedway waves his wand.
  16. Getting more and more like 1960s TV wrestling. Grunt and groan all for show and the result well fiddled everywhere.
  17. It's going to fold even with Buster's intervention. And take a big chunk of his money ( or someones who eagerly backed him and can afford to lose big ).
  18. Change her professional name to Lanning ( not even necessary by deed poll ) or doesn't nepotism work that way?
  19. Haza, this is close to mutiny, such a suggestion! Don't you know that you have to "bleed" for the club?
  20. It's not just Matt Ford that "doesn't understand" why numbers are dropping. Every promoter ( except possibly the IOW ) fall into the category of " none so blind as them that don't want to see". Rose tinted spectacles about the state of UK speedway - until they add up the hard-earned pennies of the punters who have been understanding the dropping VFM of paying at the turnstiles for the last 5 - 10 years at least. Not speedway, perhaps motorcycle rodeo at Poole?
  21. Unbelievably so! Has Buster learnt anything from his apparent transformation of the Peterborough track recently? Is he using the same material there? If tracks can be transformed it's time Saddlebow Rd was blessed in the same way and the fans given much more on track excitement.
  22. The BSPA have proved time and time again that they are incapable or unwilling to improve the product that people pay to see. Poor racing surfaces, not unexpected at a new track like Swindon but inexcusable at a long established track like Poole. What happened to track inspectors and do referees have no role in deciding if track conditions are safe or not? As for improving the show - laughable attempts at for example stopping gardening and tactical delays decided by team managers which extend the grading and tractor racing joys. Oddly suddenly great racing returned to the Peterborough track with hardly any between races grading. Hmmm. The leadership of the BSPA pay lip service ( if that ) to their customers and any business that does that will go extinct. As for the televised matches, this season they show the by now usual scene of a handful of elderly fans in an almost empty stadium and very boring follow the leader racing ( sorry motorcycle riding )in 80% of the heats. What a way to attract new customers!
  23. What next? Where next? Well, now we know. It's King's Lynn and hopefully Proctor out ( and Riss back in as soon as he is fit ). A reasonable team then the Stars, worth watching ( after a further adjustment at reserve ).
  24. And shortly to buy one more track? That would tighten his grip on UK "top" league speedway. His way finally becomes the only way!
  25. The problem seems to be that the promotion is half in and half out. Why not sell out to Buster Chapman ( for a modest sum ) so that a majority of tracks can be under the control of one owner? When a recent World Champion says it's dangerous I accept his word as he has never been faint-hearted.
