Truly spot on! Only standardised bikes and results only rewards ( points money ) will give us a return to much better racing ( and it is not in my imagination that it was much better in the last century ). Rocketship bikes have made UK speedway into an even more Gate & Go paradise - with zero entertainment.
-
It's a results-based sport and Simon may be "loyal" whatever that means. But he has little chance of improving and shows little "hunger". Tends to build himself up for one decent ride and then be happy to trail around at the back. Nicol is eager to improve and is probably capable of doing so but maybe not immediately. Go for Nicol.

Green but taking care they are not still frozen and I can only eat them as small yellow areas begin to appear. Yellow and it's Uuugh time. -
Oh Yes, invariably the best motivation. No guarantees though!
-
There is little guarantee that that would happen as the same "Senior Figures of UK Speedway" are still in charge of policy. Not that we can see any positive results from their policies of the last few years. We can only pray that better,. more interesting and attractive speedway racing does survive in the UK. Even if Buster bought "the Jewson lot" it is likely he would "manage" it all as he does now.
-
Would that have been such a bad thing? It seems inevitable. When not if. And the TV "advert" ( of BT live matches ) provides more of a disincentive to go and watch a match in a stadium near you. If it goes on next year it would be better to show every team in their away match at the NSS, in order for it to tempt any new fans in.

Should we scrap Team Speedway?

The sport in the UK is indeed not a profession any more. Or rather it cannot be in the future and riders need to understand this. Those that say they cannot make it pay without doubling up must either improve and get into European racing or take a job. No bleating hearts! -
Standardised machines and no guarantees of any kind or signing on fees but with hugely increased points money to encourage "hungry " riders to race for each point.

Team Speedway has vastly more appeal for me but only if the quality of racing can be improved. As it stands I can take it or leave ( UK speedway regardless of who is riding or in what format it is presented ). Gate & Go is boring and pointless. Perhaps it's time to involve style and position on the bike supplementary scores. Choice of music and interpretation of the same could also be brought in as well as kevlar and bike appearance. How about Le Man style bump starts? Or the first half lap could be as we currently have - ie gating excellence being the main skill and then the second half of the one lap races could involve the style of finishing that lap. And rodeo style clowns, do they have a part to play in future? Almost any kind of "circus" is more welcome than what we are offered at present. -

There is not enough racing in any of the leagues. Lots of high-speed processions which are a turn off for most people. Whether team or individual racing it must be giving the opportunity to work out how best to use a variety of lines to carry out or make a good effort at passing. -

Mr Webb, you are at it again! You will be joining the club of dinosaur supporters I am in ( who remember the last century ). You know the deniers are adamant that it is Just As Good Now - as then ( ha ha - of course not ) it must be better now because it is so much faster! Look at the Saddlebow Rd track record! Why would even the die-hards put up with Gate & Go - constantly, let alone new young fans. There is nothing to watch after the first half lap ( in the vast majority of cases ). So why not have 50 races in a match - over one lap - if Gate & Go is all we can ever watch? Is Gate & Go what the BSPA feels they want to sell nowadays? -
I watched the first round of the World Under 21 Championship yesterday and there were three passes ( after the first half lap ) in the whole meeting and just as is mentioned above, the track allowed the very best of the worlds "young guns" NO chance of racing - just to take part in a high-speed procession. Thankfully I did not travel all the way to Lublin to watch it. There might as well have been 50 one lap races to decide the result. The track was far from conducive to allow riders to demonstrate their willingness to race by giving them a decent track on which to use different lines and their racing brains.

The word dire crops up so often that the word racing should be dropped from the title of "Speedway racing". And the intractability of promoters to accept that that is the case and is at the heart of what is driving people away from the sport. Interest dies for the majority when there is no "racing" part of speedway racing. When will the BSPA wake up and see that unless the quality of racing improves extinction looms for UK speedway? I watched the first round of the World Under 21 Championship yesterday and there were three passes ( after the first half lap ) in the whole meeting and just as is mentioned above, the track allowed the very best of the worlds "young guns" NO chance of racing - just to take part in a high-speed procession. Or fewer blobs on the programme from elsewhere in the team. There were far too many last places.

Who is except for gender activists!

Q is indeed for "questioning " and does not now carry the same connotation as queer did in days gone by. Gay is strictly for gay men. I think we should have H for hetero or we will be left out and need to mount a campaign for recognition! Sorry, those us who regard ourselves as heterosexual.
-
That's it then if Buster buys Poole and gets Sheffield included ( and "promotes" them ) he almost has enough for the 2020 Premier League on TV ( never boring ). Wolverhampton will go on regardless it seems but Belle Vue are shaky. Very nearly enough to fulfil the Grand Design of Mr Chapman. In fact if BV pulled out and Buster could buy Leicester ( and promote them, of course, he could because it would be his league! ) it would cut down on travelling costs, especially if Swindon hang on in there it's a nice Midlands-ish map. Coming soon to a country near you! Rider control and costs in one Iron Fist.

That sounds simply perfect, so little need to be concerned about indecision.

I was too embarrassed to admit that I didn't know what a slider was in case it had something to do with one's LGBTQ status.

Clubs are now so cheap to buy ( not quite 10 a penny ) but cheap enough for Buster to buy them all up ( those that want to sell ). And Hey Presto we get that Great Co-ordinator we have all longed dreamed of. All will be well for Dreamland passengers. What could go wrong? -
Distinct Dilemma whichever sport you support ( or just lounge casually looking cool ). I like those trousers which unzip ( NO, not there ) and convert the leg length. Mine are a dark green ( from Japan ) NOT camo. Phew back on thread. Sorry about that slip, it must be my age.

Get a life really! never mind a hobby. Bloody extreme anoraks. If you venture more than 30 miles away from a track and ask a "Pointless " question - 'can you name any three British World Speedway Champions - you would struggle to find one in 100 who could answer and probably one in 1,000 if they are under 50 years old. If under 20 they are likely to ask if you could ask the question again in English. Never mind that very hard S.S. question - "where was the current World Champion born?". In five years time, they will be almost extinct. Possibly extinct as will that UK sport - what's it called again? Much more exciting sports have taken hold in the hearts and minds of people across the UK.
-
And that alone should raise the asking price to over 10k - a bit too high for Buster to add it to his portfolio of clubs.

If his name were Peter, it's quite likely. Certainly, someone is on the Ipswich, King's Lynn, Peterborough Merry Go Round jig a jig.
