  1. I agree with that except for the addition of "often". In my experience 1 in 8 to 10 is not often.
  2. There are certainly no guaranteed crowds for speedway in the UK for whatever events inc Test matches which used to be majestic events where we watched some titanic battles. Play-offs might still be nearly guaranteed but as no-one counts the supporters paying to get in, we can never even be sure of that.
  3. Either Nigel Pearson is now too busy on other sports and his media work in general, or he is merely growing old ( or perhaps is imbibing beyond his safe working limit ) but his professional edge and speedway memory are definitely slipping this season. It could be, of course, that like so many of us he is falling out of love with speedway.
  4. I sincerely hope not or it would amount to another nail or two in it's coffin.
  5. If only the Premier League ( UK speedway ) clubs were obliged to do the same. That would be very interesting and I don't mean just for the playoffs.
  6. I am sure that Eddie Kennett still holds that record.
  7. Great memories of Clive Featherby around Saddlebow Rd in years gone by. A thrill merchant indeed and not at all afraid of mixing it! My kind of speedway racer.
  8. Setting that up cannot be beyond the skills and budget of the BSPA? Anyone whose voice is heard by them - please endeavor to get this off the ground for March 2020.
  9. Decimal places on an abacus are much more complicated. Even worse with a handful of pebbles.
  10. He won't even blink if they did. He cares not one whit. other than for totalling up the sponsor's dollop and the turnstile takings. He has not "bled" KL for a few years. And the other acquisitions are merely "things" to make the TV contract work for 2019. How he juggles that for 2020 will be interesting.
  11. Very hard to replace a "National Treasure", not done at all to replace such a legend. Worth his weight in gold to any team, some say.
  12. Sadly Mr Webb, riders don't "belong to" any one club anymore and much as I admire NKI as a rider I doubt if he has much loyalty to KL anyway. It's just a circus sideshow nowadays ( all of UK speedway ) - mostly without the entertainment factor, in terms of racing. All riders are mercenaries in kevlars and chase the money. That is how it is sadly. The speedway us old uns watched and got excited about has long gone. As has nearly all my interest in attending matches at Saddlebow Rd.
  13. In fact he has made it clear that "it's just not worth it" unless he is allowed to Double Up / Down / Sideways and will likely be the only rider ( as a real National Treasure ) who is allowed to double up or get first choice of all and any guest bookings in One Big league ( should it ever come ).
  14. I think there may be a lot of truth in that, but it is also true that there are less and less and less fans, at all of those tracks, because the truth is that only two or three races in any meeting are worthy of the name. That is one of the main reasons why the number of UK supporters has plummetted over the last 10 to 15 years. Domestic UK speedway is increasingly perceived as poor VFM.
  15. That comment is what lies at the heart of the dwindling support on the terraces, certainly in my experience over the last three seasons at King's Lynn. Dwindling VFM in the racing put on in too many matches.
  16. This will be one of the things which lead to the end of the UK speedway scene "as we know it". What will return - IF anything does survive the collapse of the professional leagues it may be a return to basics on standardised lower powered bikes. But if there is no-one to step in and get something like this going ASAP ( within five years max ) the stadiums will quickly be utilised for other things inc. housing.
  17. You think quite correctly in respect of how I feel. It is a long time since the racing was fabulous. I would settle for half of the heats being worthy of the name "race". On Monday there were three = very poor VFM ( and hence I did not go last night ).
  18. While the GB team is owned by an outside organisation I would think they will be doing the choosing ( or should be ). As someone has already posted the job is hardly an onerous one with speedway as it is. Is a new appointment really necessary? Between those top three riders, they are able to make the tactical decisions themselves.
  19. Anyone with a modern outlook to match the new GB setup. Rosco was old hat before he started team managing. And someone who can relate positively to Tai Woffinden's ideas.
  20. Is it a case of "The Price is Right" rather than that the form and scoring figures add up?
  21. I hope the fans' sake he is not in the team as his inclusion on Monday at KL was pointless. He looked far from fit and quite disinterested, as well as having - we assume - bike problems.
  22. I hope that Buster at least thinks about and considers why there were so few paying supporters for what was a "dynamic" local derby. Yes, Panthers are at a low ebb ( brought about by Buster ) but punched above their weight, to some extent and the tactical decisions ( including the use of reserves ) by the Stars team manager gave the Panthers a lifeline of sorts. There were less than 1.000 in the crowd, perhaps not much below that but 10 or 15 years ago a local derby would have been treble that or more. Worth pondering over.
  23. Rated the match as 3/10 VFM and that is being kind. Why was the Heat 12 tractor racing extended just after the interval? Three races worthy of the name.
  24. Buster is not just delusional, he is immobile in his thinking other than that he is always right.
