  1. So, only the numbers involved have changed, if this turns out to be the case. Fixed nights for PL matches will continue to strangle UK speedway. Not enough customers want those nights and are prepared to turn up and pay. But Hey Ho, why let that spoil a "good plan". Unless televised matches are to be a tenner or less to watch in the stadium there is no point in showing a moribund sport.
  2. We have been assured that Porsing will / has improved and is a new rider this time around. Same with Andersen. Seen none of that yet.
  3. Buster's heart personally is very likely still in speedway but his mind is disinterested in fan feedback or direct involvement ( unless they know how to kowtow ). UK speedway cannot and will not be revived under him, regardless of the number of clubs he owns. Consensus from all those passionate about speedway racing ( promoters, supporters and riders and sponsors ) is what might save UK speedway from extinction. But Keith Chapman has never been an enthusiast of consensus - or listening to ideas and feedback even before he became the head honcho. Some old sayings are correct such as "leopards don't change their spots".
  4. That would certainly tempt me. I might think about it at a tenner ( but might still decline ). With the amount of decent races in an average meeting - a fiver is still a bit steep ( at £1 a race )
  5. No lessons have been learnt with regard to How to Improve UK speedway in the last twenty years or more.
  6. Now that sounds like a great National franchise! Buster's Witches, Buster's Panthers. Buster's Stars, Buster's Lions and even Buster's Tigers X 2. Bound to get a mega sponsor ( or does he have one for that plan already? ) And now is it to be Buster's Rebels? Certain to end up as Buster's Busted.
  7. And as you know Mr Webb I have greatly reduced my visits to Saddlebow Road this season and it will take a lot to tempt me back. Consistently better racing being number one, on a track where those riders that still want to "have a go" can. Whatever Buster might think of his rise in status - to eminence - it has distanced him, seemingly by choice from even many die hard supporters like us.
  8. Absolutely spot on. It's what has driven me away finally ( after nearly 60 years ).
  9. If BT are stuck on Mon / Thurs then yes. And definitely explore the streaming route ASAP with those 16 min. teams ( split geographically )
  10. Yes, he should have been automatically barred for a set period of time. For everyone's safety ( including his own ). Allitt's description was painful to read and we can only imagine how much more painful to witness. The BSPA and the SCB always claim that rider safety is their highest priority, but it does not seem so in this case.
  11. That's my "boy" nowadays ( Robert Lambert ) and I do rave about him but like Mr Webb I am not blind to Robert's faults. Interestingly back in the day, Michael Lee was even more of The One for me and oddly enough I don't think Robert will be as good as Michael was ( on track ). We can only hope that Robert has a longer, less controversial racing career than Michael. I certainly wasn't blind to Michael's faults either ( that was never possible ). Having been born and bred in Norwich my first great hero was Ove Fundin and Michael Lee "took over" from him just as Robert has done for me this century.
  12. All those now concerned about "negative" threads ( or opinions ) could perhaps look at this spin perspective. Numerous exciting close races have taken place during the 2019 UK season ( so far ). Several young riders likely " to go far" have made their mark in the Championship League. Crowds at most tracks have held up in a year by year comparison ( with 2018 ). 23 tracks continue to run speedway matches & TV spectating numbers have soared. Triple World Champion Tai Woffinden made an excellent debut commentating on BT. Draw your own conclusions about the state of UK speedway today. Nothing to worry about?
  13. This could and does apply to the vast majority of UK tracks where the possibility exists for using the land for other uses inc housing / business. The dwindling numbers attending is going to be the final nail in the coffin of UK speedway. Less fixtures, less paying supporters can only result in one thing. Not only at Peterborough.
  14. Sadly it is THE most easily embraced option for the BSPA whilst "led" by someone who believes he ( they inc. the Deputy ) "have got it right". As you say what will happen is the same old, same old ( or very close to it ) will be served up as being the way forward and tracks will slowly go out of business a few at a time. UK speedway will not exist as a professional sport by the time it's centenary rolls around. Only your proposition Two can be the real way forward.
  15. Clueless indeed Rosco. He was GB Manager because his face fitted and the BSPA prefer someone who is not quite as sharp as they are ( hence a very low bar ). Definitely the best televised meeting of the season ( inc. those from the NSS ). That tells us several things which many do not want to face up to re the standard of the vast majority of UK speedway matches.
  16. Clump 200 together in the centre of the stand and pass it off as a well run professional sport. Of course, if the track does provide for some exciting racing it will hardly matter!
  17. This afternoon? From first light in true Buster track prep style. No half measures in his world.
  18. Hardly anyone was going anyway. How about a nice Buster "special" Double Header. Just to round off the season in traditional style?
  19. I thought that Robert performed the only pass - worthy of the name ( ie after the first half lap ) in the GP. Bring on a permanent wildcard for 2020!
  20. The biggest problem that Kiri B has is that she does not think about the level of English many foreign riders have ( non native English speakers ). She does not put her questions in graduated English and thus there is often a non comprehension response ( eye action and body language ) which Kiri is unaware of. You can hear and see that some riders just give their own answer which is not related to her questions in any way.
  21. As others have said - such instability is not something you can turn on and off when you choose ( or go to the tapes ). The decision should be taken out of Craig's hands as he is obviously having mood swings / inability to control his reactions to stressful situations. Reading what Dale Allitt saw close up is alarming and I am a qualified and experienced counsellor ( I have not of course spoken to Craig on a one to one basis ). But for sure treatment of some kind seems necessary for Craig to avoid further meltdown situations. Just taking a couple of day's off is not going to be effective. Whether this is talking therapy ( which takes considerable time to be effective ) or medication ( which can leave any patient not fit to drive or race motorcycles ) he does need help ASAP.
  22. The real problem seems to be that Craig should not be piloting a powerful motorcycle in close proximity to three other riders, while he is so unwell. Referees, track doctors / medics, team managers should step in much, much sooner rather than sending a rider in such a state out to race ( or allowing them to ride again ). Naturally ,Craig needs lots of help with his mental health issues before he is allowed to ride again. If he is.
  23. Friends in high places I have heard said.
