I am still a big fan of Tai Woffinden the on track speedway racing, wonder man. Everything else, for me, is a side issue.

Kings Lynn Stars Vs Leicester 10/05/17
waytogo28 replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It was good match with several ( five ) exciting races, including Lambert's top drawer efforts ( How lucky we are to still have him!) Holder is still at only about 70% of his ability but last night gave hope that there truly is "more to come". He still needs to win over the fans I feel. Bailey is out of his depth and needs to stand down for now while he makes more career progress in the Championship and NL. A well run meeting even allowing fro the sun break. Keep it up - the crisp running of the match whenever possible. -
Premier Sport Swedish & Polish League
waytogo28 replied to Trevor's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I watched it on Tuesday and it was really good, OKish racing is the Swedish league but a truly exciting close match with excellent racing in the Polish match ( with a 1 point away win ) In fact an orgy of speedway racing! -
My thoughts and feelings to a T. I am only going tomorrow because a more optimistic than me friend is coming over from Peterborough. And Yes! At least my memory banks too are full of the glorious - speedway racing days at Saddlebow Rd - if not quite "glory" days!

Kings Lynn Stars Vs Leicester 10/05/17

Clearly nearly all the KL Stars fans on here are disillusioned on how the club appears to be being run. Updating the website takes 15 mins at most - even if there little concrete news, it's worth letting fans know that the club is still alive! Hello? is anyone there? It feels like that ! If Stars fan's not on here feel much the same, then the terraces may be pretty sparsely populated soon. -
Lambert is the only Shining BRIGHT part in the "racing " bit of speedway racing at the AFA at the moment. Of course we have been very fortunate to have seen him develop from those first National league stupendous appearances and been fearful every year that he would be tempted away. But I have never believed that one man in one race is " worth the price of admission alone". Go Lambo! The world is your oyster! Step up to the plate the other six please. especially our new superstar if you want the fans believe that you really want to be part of the KL Stars.

So, is there going to be any rider changes for the V Leicester match? No comment or preview on the website - yet. Does that mean something interesting is "on the way" or just that no one can be bothered to put up the teams?

Why is the Stars website always so slow off the mark? 48 hours before the next Premiership match and nothing as yet about lineups etc. Not really whetting the appetite of fans, which considering the previous home defeat, the promotion should be stoking up the fires of enthusiasm for it by now, IMHO. -

I don't think that KL are about to make any significant change ( except at No. 7 ) because they rarely have in the past and a very conservative ( small C ) style has always been dominant in the thinking there, But what seems to be lacking now is the entertainment factor in the racing. Losing is no big problem if it is a close, well fought match with the kind of racing that pulls fan's back to watch next week ( or whenever the next match is nowadays! ) -
Not my cup of tea - Lewis Bridger - stick with Holder stands more chance of being successful ( average wise by the end of the season ) or is it suggested that both could be fitted in somehow?
-
Aaaah! if that is the case then our season will be over to all intents and purposes by the end of July - with no changes very soon!

As GWR says - " Although a win would be nice, the result is not as important as the way the team performs. and show everybody the united front that is essential, if the season is to be reckoned with" That is the most important thing re this fixture - I personally am not bothered about the score but need to see some good, close racing with passing and on track efforts by all of the team. If the racing were to be like the BV match I doubt that I would go again this season and that is the biggest problem for the promotion, if more fans lose faith in what the Stars have to offer. -
At the heart of the matter is the quality of racing on offer - almost everywhere ( yes of course there are a handful of tracks where racing is consistenly good ) but all too often the match reports themselves talk of poor tracks where racing is made very difficult for riders to "have a real go" - which is what most fans want to see. After the winter break we all get that "Yahoo! a new season dawns - I can't wait" feeling, which sadly is more and more diluted after 3 or 4 matches, all too often. Even at the GP level the Krsko racing was dire - hardly worth watching - so if they can't get it right and it MUST be someone's fault ( overwatering on the day there it seems ) what hope is there for domestic racing? I will give it one more week, reluctantly, at KL for the match V Leicester BUT if that is equally poor entertainment I will call it a day after 60 years. Speedway can't seem to "heal itself" regardless of who runs the BSPA. What is on sale each week is not satisfying the fans any more - so change what you sell or close down! With crowds of less than 1,000 on a regular basis it is not viable as a sport.

Is Tai's massive project nothing to do with speedway then? If it is his successful; impregnation of his wife then - Congratulations to them both for their Team Riding efforts BUT I was foolishly getting excited about his efforts in another direction - helping young British speedway riders improve to the level he has reached ( if they can ). Gosh what a let down! For two healthy young people getting pregnant is not usually such a Massive Project - unless of course Young Woffy Junior is to follow in the tyre treads of his/ her Dad. Amazing that in 2040 ( for those that live that long ) we may have the first female World Speedway Champion! Toffy Woffy Woffy indeed!

You bother because you have passion for the KL Stars but I feel that there is no need to "boast' of all your efforts and hours as a volunteer. That is what volunteers do - give their time willingly and not in expectation of a "reward" in any way. And that 'reward' includes expecting other fans to put you on a pedestal of some kind. What you say in this overview is broadly correct but you are prepared to give a lot more leeway than other fans as to how the team does and is run. Other fans with a more sharpened sense of expectation are not blocked in any way from expressing their point of view. It appears to others that the management team are "sitting on their hands" and the only way to improve that is how they communicate with the fans about their intentions and efforts. Unfortunately Dale has chosen to make statements that leave him open to misinterpretation and come across as " everything is OK and will turn out well" - when in fact it would be better to take on board some fan's concerns and show a bit more affinity with them, if as you say they are so open and approachable.

Then it will truly become meaningless. It almost is now. There is rarely any genuine legacy.
-
Oh No! At times yes a very good rider but always a"mood" rider all to eager to ease up trying, if any aspect of the track conditions were not to his liking. The motivational, man management skills needed ( as well as a very sharp grasp of tactics and race by race form of your team members ) are not immediately transferable from any rider whatever the heights he might have scaled. And in this case - for me anyway, too much appears to be lacking. If what JC says is true, then Buster has no choice except to relay hundreds of tons of shale if he has earlier made the wrong choice of material. If Buster puts out the same stage as for the BV match, I for one would walk away from attending and further leakage of fans is likely to be critical as the terraces have slimmed down quite a bit in the last three years in particular.

City of Culture is a sticker added on for brief period time and when that is over, the same social problems Hull and it's resident's have will still exist.
-
I do think that any more humiliating defeats - home or away - will affect the crowd levels at the AFA and it is for this reason changes need to be seriously considered ( if they haven't been already ). Losing even at home if the team puts up a good fight is not such a big problem but being turned over too often leaves people thinking " what's the point of going to watch ". It's what a defeat looks and feels like that matters. And of course the entertainment value on track and there was very little of that in the home loss to BV.
-
Indeed they do operate a squad system in Poland and no one is immune from being dropped, if they fail to perform as expected. The loss of Super Dooper Pay nights over there might push Holder into giving it his all in the UK. If of course it is his state of mind and not his machinery that is his form problem. The mystery of loss of form is truly puzzling but as 90% of speedway is said to be psychological ( after reaching a decent level of technique ) perhaps a sports psychologist is more vital for riders in Holder's position than even some riders accept.
-
It needs to be more than a slow burner IF as thought it was intended to be mandatory for 2018. Why did the BSPA invest so much in the G. engine ( if they did in real cash terms - who knows?) if they were not intending to bring it in as THE speedway engine for the future? Lots of ifs but if the Freddie Lindgren version is "standard" it must be pretty good, when set up correctly as he is flying at the top level.

Wolves V King's Lynn 1st May 6.00 Pm
waytogo28 replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Although KK does like and go really well at Lynn, I personally am not a big fan of him because he never seems committed to any team. Always an outsider and very much a "mood" rider and prone to too many off nights. -
I should have posted this here and not in another thread. Holder has upset a lot of fans because he was all smiles when he signed for King's Lynn - at a price / package he agreed with and then later belittles that which is on offer. Or was it just for a visa? To then have a loss of form from the off, makes some people believe that it is lack of interest or effort and IF that is the case it IS very disappointing. Human nature to see it that way for some of us. We are told he has off track problems but that is the same for anyone - to keep their job they need to perform as expected and not far below what they were signed for.
