As no-one has any idea who they could possibly be, lengthening the period of wait before disclosure will surely continue to excite the appetite of fans for the 2020 season to begin. Don't you think?
-
I chose which meetings that seemed to heighten and rouse my interest and went to three of them last season. Higher prices for a lesser product means I will do the same again ( as very likely will others ) as the VFM slides yet again. Two or three real races for your money is poor value by my way of thinking. Unless the quality of racing inproves I fear I will soon not be stepping into Saddlebow Road again.

The way of the world since time began. He who pays the piper calls the tune. -
I agree mostly Mr Webb but eventually ( possibly ) in the Long Line of flops one of them could turn out to be "special" ( in the positive sense ). What I thoroughly dilike is that for some odd reason they persevere far too long with most of them, who fail to progress and rarely look as if they could.

That is not only the perfect Wish List for the future of speedway, it is the List I Wish all promoters would read quietly to them selves once a week and vow to implement as much of it as they can ( in association with other promoters in the best interest of the sport in the UK ). But IF there had ever been a time when this was possible, it has long eroded away and this stands no chance of coming about in the UK. The BSPA long ago lost the ability to learn lessons of any kinds. Every action they take ( inc the recent Eurpsport one ) hastens the end of speedway as we know it here. Merry Christmas. Oh Oh Oh.
-
However often it is broadcast live , there is still no confirmation that it will be on Free to Air channels ( only the suggestion that a highlights prgamme will be ). The BSPA were more concerned about the income stresm for the clubs than who could see it free.

Not quite sure where he would fit! I would not pay to see him ride and he should not even be the Stars No.9. On a good day he is a Championsjip second string. In the Premier League he is name to pad out the team list.

Never missed a chance BackThen to watch him ride. Legend indeed.

Buster's view on anything never changes. He made his mind up about How Run / Ruin Speeday before the end of the last century.

He is most unlikely to improve in my opinion and is now very much a "curates' egg". Brilliant flashes but often very poor indeed. -
Be better at No.8 ( well. Terry still would be ) than calling up Simon Lambert Let's say Terry and Michael despite their advancing years.
-
And a main reason , for me at least, why my £s are no longer VFM. "That wait and see if I make a better start next time" from too many riders .

No need to miss out on Iversen then! You can be sure that Corbyn and the Marxist M's will flounder today. -
Me too Mr Webb. It does look and feel as if they do just go throught the motions, endlessly. Simon Lambert for No.8?
-
Mr Webb I am surprised ( very surpeised ) that you were not already aware of quite how stupid in some ways they are. They ( the people who run KLS ) have attitudes and opinions fixed in concrete and are immovable on all aspects of knowing how "best" to run their business. You must have guessed by now that the cash paid over at the turnstiles is less and less important to the sums involved in running the team. Simply becasue there are less and less paying punters! So there is no need for the promotion to bother with what those mugs do feel about things.

That did make me laugh! No, No, No,No none of the above.

VFM has been the cause of my dwindling ( but not yet extinguished ) enthusiasm for the sport that has been THE sport of my life. And the increase in the number of drawn out processional races does matter to me. Simpler . cheaper . longer lasting bikes that allow for competitive racing must be part of the way forward ( if there is to be a way forward in the UK ). The riders own skills on track will come to the fore once again.

No. 4 should read : Buster always knows best. -
Not to be ripped off with high postal charges on website purchases.
-
It's not so much our glorious rural location ( which has many upsides ) I suspect that the team is comprised of riders to suit the sponsors demands. After all the dwindling crowds ( no longer worthy of the name really ) contribute less and less to balancing the books.
-
Not so much to piss anyone off, as I see it but more like "we don't give a monkey;s about what you think" . Why not announce one of the new acquisitions ( if there are to be any ) if you hoped to impress the supporters who are left. Out of date re "how to do it" and short on ideas too.

(Some) Japanese Speedway on C4
waytogo28 replied to martinmauger's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
That is totally correct and betting is all that drives it on . It is very very difficult for races to be rigged, if not impossible. It IS very exciting becasue it is all about handicap racing and the stars do have to race through the pack, which is good to watch. The biggest downside is that there is a 20 /30 min gap between races for the placing of new bets and the collecting of winnings ( not even tractors to watch race ) and the meeting lasts 8 hours plus. The upside is that it costs 50p to get in and if you are not a betting person it's a very cheap "bike racing " day. I enjoyed it several times when I lived and worked in Japan. Vastly more passing than in UK speedway that's for sure. -
Basically another New Yawn then for suporters. Who won't be able to see live matches on Eurosport free to air. I cannot see the progress in that TV deal.

I care very little now. I went to three meetings this year. It was just SO boring - truly "over coming out of the second bend, first time round" and withput a doubt " follow the leader". Very Pied Piper! I noted down every scap of action and very really got more than 5 minutes ot "thrills" in a match. And that is at a track where I live less than three miles away and in a town where settling there on retirememt - the local speedway team was a definte factor in my choice. And I had followed it every year since it opened in 1965 ( when I lived 50 miles away ). If only I lived three miles away from the NSS.
