  1. Buster was lauded to the skies as the "saviour" of speedway. "Let me show you how to do this properly" and he can't even save his own track. No better than those who went before him wearing the Big Man's Blazer.
  2. He should stay there we do not need such a mardy one pretending to be proud to wear the race jacket. Yes he has had great misfortune in the past we know, so perhaps it's time to hang up his kevlars. He would have had to ride in Poland for his €20,000 . His bottle seems to have gone if it was him that incited the others to refuse to ride.
  3. We have seen so many farcical nights at the AFA ( sponsors name dragged through then mud by association ) Should have been awarded to Poole after two heats of 5 -0 scores.
  4. This will become known as the night that speedway died. Credibility ZERO, interest in the supporters ZERO Speedway "racing" ZERO, VFM ZERO. Bye Bye Buster, Bye Bye BSPA Whoever incited or demanded that the home team stop the match should be banned for life from the sport.
  5. Almost certainly if we expect to see speedway in something like the form it is now - five years on of course nothing will have changed and few tracks will be viable. Semi - pro in some form as in the "slump" days ( of speedway ) at a few places. Who is the next much vaunted saviour? I wonder what they really do talk about in BSPA meetings? Not the views of supporters I am sure. The Emperor's new clothes I imagine.
  6. Of course I did slip up there as my post was about my 1961 team of Norwich Stars V the Pirates as a dream of better races ( or more of them per match ) in the dinosaur past we are not speedway wise PC supposed to mention!
  7. Congratulations to the Stars on doing the "business" away from home but the Pirates did have big problems of their own with Klindt's injury and KK's form. The point is that it was an unexpected, splendid away win and I now want to see an emphatic win ( and better form at home ). Keep it up at the AFA please Stars! Give us "reasons to be cheerful" there.
  8. Nothing to lose if we do this and everything to gain. I can see no improvement as we are and IF it is Rossiter who TW can't work with he should step aside . And IF the riders would accept it a positive step forward we should go that way.
  9. If it had been held at King's Lynn the result would likely have been the same except we would probably have secured the Bronze medal. Again if it had been held at the NSS very possibly the same. But we are not going to have the final very often and therefore not get a medal very often without T.W.
  10. And therein lies the dissatisfaction of some fans. Standing on the terraces fans can only judge the Stars performances by what they see on track. What I have seen is well below par and not very interesting to watch. It's not moaning it's a valid comment after being a customer, just like any transaction, even though there is also some emotional attachment to the Stars having watched them for 50 years. Team building is based on the judgement of the management and it is valid to criticise what they offer fans in the team package. How else could it be? Winning is not that important to me but the manner of losing is.
  11. Is this the same sport I witnessed on BT yesterday? If it was then there was a complete reversal of dire & decent races. No shouting commentary and nearly every race contained some passing ( so there were none I could class as unworthy of the name - racing ). Except for Masters and Harris last night 3/10. Tonight except for a couple of reserves ( NOT Peter Karlsson ) it was 9 / 10. So, is it the same sport?
  12. Do you still need to subscribe to the Sky TV channels before you can any take these ( individually or as bundle) ? That's alway been my problem ( costwise ) I would love the golf or even Pay Per View of majors if it were available. Pearson was indeed pushing them hard for rides in the UK but even in the SS Rob Godfrey said that Manzares doesn't have a visa nor any bikes. Can't see much hope of him or Becker getting a place before next season.
  13. There are rules on here? Honestly? An observer from the planet Zog would never know. You can rant, rave, threaten, bully or troll people which if reported in the real world would result in prosecution. No wonder the number of posters is dropping. in the 1961 meeting between the Stars and Pirates there were several really good races.
  14. Does it really matter if this person is Polish, an alien from planet Zog or just a fan who "wants to be different"? It's just boring with such pointless interaction. A big turn off. And we let him ruin so many threads which are otherwise of interest. If we stop poking him / her, they might post more interesting posts with a different perspective?
  15. Spot on that there were 2 or 3 very good races ( one of them a speedway classic - Thank You Sam and Chris ) BUT there were also 10 or 11 dire races not worthy of that title and very poor VFM. And that is the problem for almost every speedway match in this country ( yes there are exceptions ). If you were a new to speedway viewer on BT and you watched those first two league matches you are more likely to have been convinced of the old saying that "first away wins". Even "free" on TV it was not very enjoyable to a long term fan. It's only the faint hope that the next race will be truly worthwhile watching that kept me going to the end.
  16. Without intending to be negative I can only agree with those exploring the difficulties of making it work on a 4TT basis. I can only offer, as a possible saviour to the way the sport is becoming extinct ( in the form it is now ) the ideas that we so nearly adopted several years ago. This being that the riders all rider the same machines - probably something like the Honda experiment. They could even be 350 cc ( or 500 cc ) single cylinder machines of lower BHP. NO tuning, in fact sealed engines and limited other changes ( if possible none ) to standard machines. Closer racing with more passing with skill being the deciding factor. There are of course lots of negatives to be pointed out, I am sure.
  17. Can't see the new drains being ready until the end of 2018 ( at the rate the project has gone so far ) so maybe, just maybe a glimmer of a light re the middle of 2019 for the inaugural meeting. Time for two more Abbey Farewells.
  18. Such posters are extremely thin skinned and up for a "fight", not like that in real life ( except for one to two known exceptions ). They are 'angry' about everything and must be "right" and get the last word in. Perhaps they need a sports psychologist to calm them down?
  19. There never was a chance of a new stadium being built. Another venue lost to speedway. Five years on Poole V Belle Vue will be the only UK match in a very contracted elite league ( providing Poole have re-layed their track by that time ). They will race Home and Away on alternate weeks and fans elsewhere can watch speedway via Pay Per View.
  20. No money left in the pot now that the Sky money has dried up. And good as he was, Iversen had most of that.
  21. Ellis may well have done better than the Lambert we saw in his first rides. And I have been watching speedway and marking up the programme since 1956 ( and some years before that but not watching seriously, just running around ). I am a huge fan of Lambert - but cannot fathom why he was so poor initially. Yes, he is still young but I was very disappointed - let's hope that it was just a bad day at the office.
  22. He is already well above average but if he wants to emulate Doyle or Woffinden and get into the GP and win some, he needs to get some help with aspects of his racing - from the best available source. Perhaps he is already? Or is he too busy?
