  1. Oh I do hope that that is true! Club will announce it at 7.28 pm no doubt.
  2. Gresham said " 2. Riders who rode Club speedway, would be provided with an engine at each meeting. These Engines would be sealed and owned by the BSPA/Clubs. The riders would provide their own rolling chassis and draw lots for the engines at each meeting. Riders would be paid a wage by the Club, and only ride for one Club in this country. If they have another job or ride abroad, then that can't interfere with Club speedway. Here comes first. Take it or leave it. 3. A Team average is set for the whole season. Riders can only be replaced with riders of the same average to when they leave. EG if said rider starts with an average of 9.00 and drops to 7.00. He can only be replaced by a rider on a 7.00 average. To stop fixing of averages." I am fully behind this dream scenario! No more doubling up, one big league. I will add handicap racing. Something along these lines is essential and will likely be the way that club speedway turns into within 5 years.
  3. And there was a deluge of monsoon like rain from around 5am ( to 6 am ) in KL. I am three miles from the stadium. The rest of the day is set fair - hot even - but wether Buster can do the track to the satisfaction of the home riders, who knows? There will be a sun delay if the forecast is correct and if the match is on.
  4. I do think that the majority of fans no longer want Chris Holder riding for the club. I feel that way myself. Public flogging may be a tad too far but a kick up the backside as he is shown the door may be well deserved. As others have said, a great disappointment as a rider and as a man ( in terms of his moral compass regarding his career choice ).
  5. The same lack of though from the management made Robert the Stars Captain. A wonderful speedway rider but not yet mature enough to do much in a positive way as Captain. Much too soon unless it was just for coin tossing. Robert needs to concentrate on his next career step as a rider because his World Cup performance showed that the GP is a distant dream as yet.
  6. I have to agree with Starboy118 who said " The problem is that there is a leader/owner/main man who is not able to see the bigger picture. He is incapable of delegating. Should he really be concentrating on driving the tractor and fixing the track when someone who knows what they are doing should be handling this side of things? He surely should be overseeing the whole show, ensuring that contact with the lifeblood (the supporters) is maintained and that things are running smoothly. He takes his eye off the ball and gets involved in things that others could be doing. I'm not sure why I'm writing this because I threw in the towel a long while ago, sick to death with the absence of any sort of entertainment and the contempt shown to supporters. No more!" There was no other Promoter / Club Owner / Manager ( with authority ) to step in last Thursday. Will we ever hear from Rob Lyon about what his involvement at KLS really involves. It was leaderless / rudderless last week and that is a problem that looks no different this week ( or ever, without re-structuring within KLS ). How can Buster say " it will never, ever happen again " - he could not stop a rider strike from developing last week and never can? Buster sees the need to diversify his business interests and mushroom farming can be quite profitable. A good friend tells me I need to laugh about it all because taking it seriously is pointless. The only action fans can take is to go or NOT go to further matches. With the weather problems of today the Rye House match looks as if track problems will affect it again and it could easily be deja vu tonight. Buster's promise to never let it happen again may be tested immediately.
  7. Probably injury as he fell in the SEC. It's not in their DNA ( Did Not Answer )
  8. We have heard so much about his off track problems ( not that we know what they are , nor have any right to do so ) but I was a fan of his exciting racing style - which we can still see glimpses of - but he seems a troubled man ( viewing from the outside ). Continuing to ride after serious injuries is every rider's personal decision but we as supporters do have a right to expect his best efforts when he is racing, regardless of his problems of the moment. I began to lose interest in him when he had his outburst at the start of the season about how much he's paid in Poland ( and not paid here ). What he did last week is not going to help in rebuilding the sport or attracting new fans. If he does not race again for KL, then he has only himself to blame. Just as well he did not, as like Schlein we might well have had an Aussie-ish 1 - 2 - 3 at the British Final if Batchelor had also done the same. All very strange. Oh Yes, let's hear from him. I am pleased if he is going to give his side of the story.
  9. A big part in all of this is that in truth Dale Allit and Rob Lyon have no real authority to demand either of the above. The power at KLS still comes from the owner, why else did Rob Lyon duck the issue?
  10. We have been told that Holder does need a UK club for visa purposes but he already has one lasting at least until the end of the season and i don't think they would be rescinded due to his 28 day ban. Interesting if it was. Hopefully he is well aware of the visa conditions.
  11. Good one and would have made us laugh even in the Jokes thread! No one wants to wear the Big Blazer and front the BSPA that's for sure. Why would they?
  12. False dawn said " I believe the only way KL are going to recover this situation is to bare their souls. Tell us what happened, warts and all and tell what they intend to do. It'll be no worse than the speculation. Treat your fans with respect" So many fans fully agree with that but is Buster listening? I hope so. Will he react positively to this desire from fans? I hope so. Rob Lyon should stand down as co-promoter, as he only ever was "in name only" and seems to have no function to fulfil on race nights. As suggested he should have gone out on the centre green and explained things to the waiting crowd. . T The speculation is worse than the truth almost always! Politicians are strongly advised to " tell the truth, tell it all and tell it quickly" to recover from a scandal. Last Thursday was a scandal and sadly Buster's latest apology ends with " let's put it behind us and move on". Not so easy for some fans. Oh and as a consolation sop a free race card will be given out this week ( 20p per person cost?)
  13. Ah the sense of mystery! which I enjoy in TV detective dramas but not when the team is shrouded in mystery and everything is Top Secret. Only yesterday Buster promised such a farce as last Thursday will never happen again at KLS but he needs to increase the transparency and communication to really appease fans. Or instruct Pearson to do it as he runs the website. Anyone know the likely Rye House team? Not on their website, it must also be run by Pearson as it is woefully out of date re this week. Quick! Rush the whole team to Little Walsingham just in case the healing waters of the "north" of Norfolk work for the Stars.
  14. I must say that Dave Goddard - not my mate - is an excellent commentator who I enjoy listening to and who does add just enough to the on track action. But Oh How fortunate we are to have the BT coverage which I also enjoy as a different product.
  15. The real problem is that the BSPA were finally eager for Buster to become Chairman ( after his years of agitating for change ) because the job is a poisoned chalice, in the sense that no-one can turn the sport around because it has declined too far already. When Buster stands down, as he will, who is there to take over who really has a chance to revise the sport?
  16. It is easy for those of us who have highlighted the negative aspects of speedway in recent years to be labelled doom and gloom merchants. We have ( collectively ) put forward and continue to put forward positive , constructive ideas which seem to be be unheard by the BSPA or are not considered. Every business - except speedway finds feedback from their customers highly desirable and worth collecting and listening to.
  17. Always been a "mood" rider - can be superb and when not in the mood ( for whatever reason ) doesn't even try or appear to try. Comes across as a petulant child - even if he isn't. And many fans are "considering their position" too and may not put up with KL as it is being run ( and has been run down over the last two years or so. ). Rob Lyon is always held up with high respect and perhaps now needs to "consider his position" and make it plain if he is going to play a positive, structural part in KLS. For Chris Holder and Doyle to have any real interest in the UK ( in either league ) depends on money. IF holder can continue to get £1,000 plus a point in Poland ( he may not next year ) why would either of them bother much about the paltry amounts ( by their standards ) available in the UK?
  18. So there was some serious condemnatory official reaction to Holder's actions. Even if it weakens the Stars it is better to see that holding the fans in contempt will not be accepted. Will he learn? Will he get paid his guarantee package during his ban? Will other riders take note of what is unreasonable behaviour. We can only hope so.
  19. And because the BSPA don't welcome new ideas from anyone of any age or background that downward spiral can only lead to the end of speedway as we know it now ( or have known it ). Even ideas such as handicap racing ( as at the IOW recently ) could be employed - not a new idea but a "fresh" one that could make speedway racing attractive to a new generation of fans by reducing processional racing.
  20. One good reason to go would be to promise that such a thing will never happen again under his ownership. And another one would be to confirm that the club IS taking disciplinary action against Holder and giving Batchelor notice that he is on a final warning. But we are not going to get that are we? It is not the first calamity this season and there have been too many track problems causing long delays for rectification in the last couple of years. Why should we trust Buster? It was a very different man who laboured to build up the club.
  21. Bet there won't be a sun delay ( or not for long ) for the TV broadcast. Odd how the presence of the cameras makes lots of things possible that don't get bothered with on other days.
  22. I really don't think it was a simple "misdemeanour" because it has left a number of fans who were there with little or no desire to go again and be put through something similar again. How many will stay away we do not know but the person who gives me lift was very miffed and talked of not going to go again. Speedway is a very hard habit to break ,but for all, including myself when you think what a lot of rubbish they offer you now - you do want to stay away.
  23. I am in the - it would be detrimental to the sport camp. Even more reasons for local newspapers and radio to "give speedway a miss" too. And yes 99% of fans probably don't give a monkey's.
  24. The problem is with depending so much on social media inc. Facebook and Twitter is that it is no different to leaflets and posters ( except that it is digital and free ). Being on Facebook or twitter does not automatically put your information in front of millions of people. They still have to know about you and what you are doing to "like" you or follow you. Also what some riders put out to their existing 500 followers is not going to attract or interest ( or make much sense ) to those outside the sport.
  25. Yes the world has moved on from those "start again" days. I can't see a re-start getting off the ground if speedway does go under. So, if the turnstile income is truly important why does't Buster / BSPA take more notice of what supporters want or suggest? They should do a questionnaire to every paying fan who attends a match in September ( and not just be asked to listen to us on here ) before they make the big decisions at the AGM IF they hope to retain most of the existing fan base. IF they believe that fan's views are important and might just hold the key to declining crowds. The BSPA have been "knowing best"for all of the time that the Sky money has been coming in and crowds have dropped during that time ( and clubs have closed ). They obviously don't "know best" or there would be 3 to 5,000 people attending everywhere every week.
