  1. And THAT is what drives away more and more fans. Any rule can be adapted to suit the situation of the moment with no thought for what the future impact of decisions is going to be. On things like the sport's credibility. If anything Alice like ( curious and curiouser ) happens over Chris Holder it will be another nail in the coffin of speedway. And Woffy for the playoffs too - on that basis that his tattoos now cover 50% of his body.
  2. Yes he has proven himself to be not a great custodian of the sport at KL for whatever reasons. Those reasons that only he knows and is never likely to reveal. Perhaps a rating overall of 60%?
  3. It is no wonder that his emotions are here there and everywhere, I agree with and accept that. But to race speedway safely you have to get beyond those problems ( put them to one side ) at least for the duration of a meeting. It would seem likely that those problems and how they were still pressing on him, pushed to one side his self control. In which case , like you I would welcome him back - not quite with open arms but at least calmly with his personal guarantee that such a thing will never arise again. Nor will he incite others because I am still unsure as to how much "damage" was done to the younger riders who might still feel that Holder had point. Hopefully his ban should have made it very clear to them ( however much like him him personally ) that he was very out of order. With a bit more nous as Trees suggested he could have had an EF or ridden round at the back racing-ish. His OTT actions were clearly designed to get the meeting called off and that is what still concerns me. If he is entirely unrepentant in his statement I think he should not expect to return to race in the UK.
  4. Fans may have shouted at GC solely because of their frustration at not being able to talk sensibly with members of the management ( except in the end of match "conference" - which not all can attend or feel that their point is taken note of in ). Of course no one should abuse anyone, in any role at the club, but why not have a two way channel of communication which fans can feel that their point of view and ideas are at least being considered . Some simple ideas that would cost very little but would bring about better fan enjoyment have long been ignored e.g. the sound in the main stand where the music is too loud and commentary / interviews far too faint. It may not be about new P.A. equipment but about tweaking and using effectively what is there. Hardly matters what GC or anyone says if you can't hear them. Caring the best way possible for the paying customer ( within reason ) must be on the club agenda somewhere?
  5. I hope that Cook can show that the World Cup really was "bad day at work" albeit on the day we needed a world class show from him . Give us your dazzling most exciting side Craig! Woofy to reach the Final and hopefully win it. Keep another World title in sight and be the Best Brit Ever ( on track ).
  6. All we ask of any rider is to Give It A Go - those who can't gate, lose out on slick tracks and those who can't handle grip, score low on tracks like last weeks Stars V Pirates. That what makes averages. Throttle control has gone out of style but there are few places or maybe only one ( the NSS really ) where you can do that. Riders have to race in the UK in a variety of shapes and track conditions. That is said to be why Hancock etc advise P.P. to join Leicester.
  7. Simply perfect - Bustersway or No Way at all. He has a stranglehold on the direction of speedway. For Good or No Good. Pop back in 2022 never mind the 2028 centenary to see what happened. Did it burst back into life with 5,000 everywhere or fade limply away with a couple of hundred 70 and 80 year olds attending?
  8. Buster is like marmite - Love him ( and his leadership style ) or Loathe him and his ideas for the future of speedway. He will remain there for a few years yet ( unless he decides otherwise ) and speedway as a whole will have no choice but to live with the results of his efforts. At least he is not an " everything is OK " fence sitter ,as it had been for the previous fifteen years or so.
  9. None of the he said, he didn't say matters because Holder has a 28 day ban and now the Rye House fixture has been postponed he has missed one less KL match. He won't be sacked and fans will have the choice of watching him or not, by voting with their feet. That is how it should be. Buster is content with that as a way of running his speedway business. The end result of that is yet to be seen.
  10. I don't think anyone hates anyone from either side. As usual in life and on here there are two or three FOR Buster and five or six Against him. Polarised views. What does matter is, if last week and this has provoked enough bad feeling on the terraces to lower the crowd yet again for future matches. How dangerous to speedway viability ( not the stadium as it has other profitable uses ) is 100 or 200 off the crowd level on a regular basis? No fans of speedway or of the Stars wants to see the club close but how it is run is very important. And how Buster as Chairman is leading the BSPA is very important to the sport.
  11. It did rain but there was nothing until I went to bed at 11 pm and I am close to the track. If all promotions waited for a perfect forecast there would be no fixtures anywhere in the country. It is the degree of risk and yesterday it was less than 10% chance of rain and that was for late evening or overnight as it turned out. Tactical postponement - poor decision as in future some will say why bother going?
  12. The proposed team with King and Worrall in was not that bad even with Huckenbeck needing rr. It may have been as strong as previously, so I don't accept that it was about fielding a weak team. I think JC has suggested some other deeper problems that are more likely to be at the root of the problem. And for those urging fans to be true to their club - would you go on eating at a restaurant where the top chef has been replaced with a two Str MacDonald's trainee? We have been cheated over the past two years and treated as being worthless to Buster. Loyalty and respect goes two ways. I expect that if there was a new promotion, fans would give them a try but not this repeated very poor VFM sporting entertainment. Will we never be hearing from Rob Lyon re his position at KLS?
  13. Elf & Safety - always a winner. Fans of the Stars at KLS always ( in recent years ) the Losers. I too think nah there is a lot more hidden away for Reasons Not To be Cheerful.
  14. I sincerely agree with what you have said about Holder's life situation but he chose to carry on regardless and sign for another UK club, on a good deal ( by UK standards ) so he cannot expect much overall sympathy when he goes on strike. Maybe he should end his season ( in the UK ) now, other than the GP. But if he doesn't get back to Poole next year for whatever reason, where does that leave him then. Anyway it would likely be for him and Doyle - Poland and Sweden, so perhaps it hardly matters.
  15. KK is and always has been a gamble for any promoter to sign in the UK.
  16. Now with this weeks call off it's crazy, dejected fans in Oh No mode.- what Buster should have done is, last Friday shouted it far and wide "it's £10 for all adults ( inc concessions ) and £5 for the others - kids free. And here is your free race card". for the Rye House meeting and THAT would have been some kind of positive gesture to fans. I think they would have responded positively to that and turned up in droves. This leaves the real outcome hanging over an abyss. IF there is no thunderstorm or heavy rain before 10 pm we all know for sure that it was " postponed" for other reasons!
  17. You are right. But until a group have the balls to challenge it Poland will go on imposing their will on top level speedway. I think it is likely to be Poland and one other country in 2018. Will that sting some of the GP boys into action or will they be content with £1,000 point in Poland and £500 a point (?) in Sweden? No. But Batchelor's situation is different because someone signed him off as injured ( track doctor, referee?) but Lambert and Huckenbeck should be fined ( not banned )for being the first to "strike". Of course Batchelor too but it is hard to prove the case against him.
  18. It is not a matter of wether it is "right" or not. They have the power and wealth in Poland to do as they wish. Riders fall over themselves for that "pot of gold" - we all would if we could. Let's enjoy speedway with riders who are happy to be riding here, whatever level that ends up as. Goodbye GP riders and those with Polish contracts. We can watch them on TV if we really miss them.
  19. Speedy69 wrote " Presumably you mean well organised speedway in the UK where integrity is high and the spectators are put first?" That outcome Is getting to be an unrealistic dream and the reality a nightmare. It certainly is at KLS. The best we can hope for is that a new promoter takes over the rights ( not a shadow one ) and the Stars run at Championship level in 2018 - if they run at all. Many fans now have zero belief in Busters efforts regardless of how long he claims to put in on the track. The results of those hours in terms of rider and fans satisfaction is pretty low and it is unlikely to be easily restored.
  20. In my opinion the riders were mostly at fault for going on strike in the way they did. Forcing the ref to come down seems wrong and the first heat times were very fast ( the fastest this year ). I love watching Robert Lambert who is a great rider with the potential to go much further but not by behaving in this way and being a major part of the strike. You can't do that except in exceptional circumstances and I don't believe the track last Thursday was exceptionally bad, nor affected by the light rain. Some Riders did not give a fig for the supporters and can't complain if the crowd dwindles further. But Yes, Buster should really think about standing down as Chairman of the BSPA because he is unable to make sure that his own track and team is in full working order. A very poor example. And the co-promoters are in name only.
  21. If Buster gets this postponement V Rye House wrong and the evening turns out fine, he will have failed Stars fans again. And if he believes that the Poole debacle is "behind us" he should consider his position as Chairman of the BSPA and think about the right time to step down, His leadership rating is very poor.
  22. The two forecasts I have looked at say that any storms will be later in the evening. I'll be monitoring the weather carefully and I live not far away from the track. Hmmm. I hope that Buster has got this one right with a postponement. If he now continues wit the Great Silence he is more out of touch than I ever believed. If he thinks that the comment "it's behind us now" fixes everything then he is delusional about his shrinking fanbase. That's me finished with the Stars after watching them very year they have been based in KL ( and before that in Norwich )
  23. Me too! A very long time since a UK speedway match ( at King's Lynn ) excited me or showed me that sometimes ( somewhere else ) the excitement I look for in n speedway IS still there.
  24. Why would any major sponsor decide to back speedway or the BSPA? They would surely have taken a long hard look at the sport and unless the would be sponsor is led by an existing fan, there cannot be much "meat " in the idea. Except of course IF there is a continuation of the BT coverage and that might entice someone if the viewer numbers warrant it. Can't see it myself.
  25. No Buster is not very interested in communicating with fans because they will likely disagree with him and that is not on is it? No it would not survive in the real world. Only in the fantasy world of speedway in the 21st century. False Dawn wrote " Now I think about it, has any rider involved tweated or publicised their side of this." Robert Lambert has and he said " what do we have to do to get a decent track" You can see where he stands on the matter.
