Redcar handed fours
oldywonkenoldi replied to RedcarRacer's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
In 2006 when we opened there was nearly 5000 fans according to a senior speedway official, and facilities have improved since then, so if all teams send 500 supporters it maybe a full house, BUT I cant see that many coming from the 5 southern based teams, so should be a well organised, supported, and fair competition, on a fair racing circuit that will suit all riders/ -

Halifaxtiger is one of the diehards of the sport, very fair in his assessments of speedway today, like all on this forum he is entitled to his opinion, sometimes right, sometimes wrong, but like all fans has his own preferences, if he says Peterborough fours will take some beating, let Redcar show him it can and will be done, but wasn't it Redcar Bears who made last years final so good. -

The answer to your neutral track venue, Have Redcar won the league yet, or even gone through a season unbeaten at home, NO, or have teams who hardly ever lose at home with the advantages they have, won the league every year since Redcar rejoined the championship in 2006. I say only Scorpions have won the league since then, who have not had a massive home advantage. -

When the Bears returned to Speedway at this venue on its opening day, there was close to 5000 fans inside, the arena has better facilities now so cant see any problems. -
Ben you gave us the rumour that the Anderson were not coming, so give us the rumour of who could be coming!!!

The Tapes & Unsatisfactory Starts
oldywonkenoldi replied to Shockster's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
As I have stated before, Why not get rid of tapes and use the method that BMX use, solid metal gate which lowers and all riders have to be touching the gate at the green light, then riders can do what they want, once it drops. Of course it would have to drop slightly below ground level so no obstruction. No touching tapes problem, no flyers, no exclusions, customers get what they have paid for, 4 riders per heat all off the same line, and as to cost, no more or less than air fences -

Yes, there are various places to park your chair with a small stand on the second bend, and we have a main stand on the 4th bend, next to the pit exit, hope you enjoy your time here on Teesside -
The Race For The Championship Play Offs
oldywonkenoldi replied to Norfolk Bear's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Basically it shows that the teams who have a track that gives so much home advantage will always top the league,as is proven year after year,if the points were 2 for a home win and 4 for an away win it would negate the home advantage, and in my opinion make speedway more interesting. -
I think Ben has replaced Kennet, Ellis dropped so they can fit in a worse rider than him cos his average is now too high for the team
