My all time fave has to be the late Tommy Leadbitter you will go a bloody long way to meet a more sincere and bloody nice bloke than Tom. Allways had time to chat to anyone and just enjoyed racing to the limit, and i count myself very lucky to have classed him as a friend

Has anybody mentioned Phil Cain who used to be at Coventry late 70s early 80s can deff remember him in second halves and i think i also remember him riding at least one match away at the Brummies , I believe he had something to do with Ole .

TNT you dont happen to know where i can get hold of any pics of Tom do you I have been searching for a while now. I used to live near him and he used to come up the pub with us ( three tuns Lichfield) he also can to watch our football team and we went to loads of his grass meetings. We used to have some crackin evenings at the pub when Cribby was in town as well amd I have never seen a funeral so packed as Tommys , a sign of how others felt about one of the nicest blokes you will ever meet

I wonder if anyone can help in my search for old photos of Tommy Leadbitter from any stage of his career in speedway/grasstrack,if you can point me in the direction of any web sites with photos or indeed if you yourself have any photos you would be willing to let me have ( obviously I would purchase them for a small fee .)....any help would be gratefully accepted

Can anyone please help me in my quest. I am searching for a book written by my old mate Tommy Leadbitter who rode for Wolves and Middlesboro to name a couple, cant remember what it was called but remember him saying he had written one, but that was when I was younger and didnt really care for reading books even if they were speedway books, but now I am slightly older and can read without the help of pictures. So can anybody help, tried all the usual places (amazon, e-bay etc) with no luck Thanks Nash

I seem to remember a couple of second half riders that made it in to the Coventry team in the 80's. One was a young Aussie that came on the recomendation of Ole Olsen called Phil Cain who tried his bloody hardest week in and week out and i'm sure he got into the team at some stage as I think I saw him at Birmingham one meeting with Ole trying to team ride him home. The next was a chap called Pete Bacon again a real tryer that did get a few chances but nothing came of it. Can any Bees fans remember these and indeed tell me what became of them

I cant remember much about the meeting but it was one of my first reace meeting s I attended ....went there to do some work on the track with a friends dad who worked for a company called Dellplant who then went on to sponsor Hans Nielsen and Knud Ellergard when they first came over and spent many a happy afternoon/evening up at Hans`s house with him explaining the finer points of this wonderful sport. Went past Chasewater the other day on a return to the midlands not a great deal remains apart from the narrow gauge railway

Never saw Cribby ride his ice bike but always used to see him up the pub (Three Tuns, Lichfield Staffs) with my old mate Tommy Leadbitter (anyone remember him)and what a pair they made many a good night was spent avin a few and those two recounting old speedway stories....bloody magic . The last time I saw Bruce was at Tommy's funeral with Briggo......if anyone sees the Big Kiwi to you point him in the direction of Carmarthen we could do with a good engine man for our boys
