Peterborough v Ipswich CS Tuesday 24th April
89buttons replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Feel like it’s a good opportunity for us to take something away from this meeting - lots of our boys go well there and we pushed your much better looking side close last year - however it’s looking quite likely that it could be the first meeting of the year for the witches which will favour your boys for sure so I’m going for a panthers win but us to pinch a point 47-43 something like that!! -
Thanks man! I may head over anyways but appreciate any updates!

Anyone in Ipswich today? I’m assuming there’s no point me coming back to see if there’s any practice on this afternoon?!.....
-
Drozdz at 3 would suggest he’s settled to his home track very quickly in practise - can see Belle Vue a comfortable winner tonight....looking at the head to head in the lineups can only realistically see batchelor outscoring his opposite number in Drozdz at 3 around Belle Vue, maybe Wajtknecht against Etheridge ...but anything less than 15 point lead and I think Swindon will have a very good chance to turn the tie around! Makes for interesting viewing from afar and a great meeting to get the season started with!

thanks! Best get up to the diner for lunch on that day then!!!
-
Anyone know if there’s some practise planned sometime between now and good Friday!?
-
Well he’s riding for Redcar this year....maybe he wants to get over here and test the equipment he’s brought over
-
I don’t mind the new logo..... could be a lot worse look at poole’s website muchly improved - good to hear guy nicholls suggesting as long as he’s in business he’ll be involved in backing speedway!

Championship Predictions 2018

Kyle howarth stepped up last year and with no s.worrall/josh g/cook/masters in the league this year will easily hold his own stepping up to number 1 lasse and wright are very good heat leaders and both will be formidable at home. bates frankly has the ability to go as far as he wants in the sport - just needs to get his head right consistently - showed signs of that last year so potential to improve kurtz is fantastic at Sheffield and has become more and more solid at number 2 year on year shanes could be one of the leagues biggest improvers this year smith has bags of potential just waiting to be unlocked - nevertheless he’s improved every year in his short career so far...... im an Ipswich fan so no tinted specs - I really can’t see the weak link here.... -
Championship Predictions 2018

Discounting injuries which always play a major part... I see three mini leagues in one top 3 ipswich/Glasgow/Sheffield finishing in any order middle pack fighting for 4th lakeside/Scunthorpe/Edinburgh/Redcar/Workington bottom end fighting to avoid wooden spoon Newcastle/Peterborough/Berwick For me the top 3 are the clear strongest but then thereafter that it’s a bit harder to call - at Ipswich our success hinges a little on how quickly the German lad settles and the injury returnees... lots of people saying lakeside nailed on for top 4 - I think they have a long tail - never really rated Morley - and Ellis/Newman engine room looks somewhat inconsistent and prone to crashes/injuries - but one of the biggest Home advantage track in the league! -
Ah pleased about that! Been wishing for us to be awarded one of these events for years now! Extra meeting on the calendar too!!
-
It won’t happen but this would be good to watch Bartorsz Zmarzlik Emil Sayfutdinov Tai Woffinden Shamek Pawlicki Piotr Pawlicki Andzej Lebedevs Vaclav Milik
-
And to think you were all worrying about the prospect of ostergaard riding at 5 this season.......come March you could well be seeing him in heat 1!!
-
It’s all very well claiming at Peterborough we’re behind this that and the other but lakeside tried to sign nicholls and kennett months ago, were told sorry they’re not eligible for championship racing this (something I think is unjust and ridiculous I might add) but rather than sulk and get to nearly February without an alternative they said right what are we going to do then that’s messed our plans up.....put their heads together and signed Lawson/morris, similarly Lawson was going to Sheffield until this happened - Sheffield aren’t still sitting here saying we should be allowed so sign scotty or lakeside should have been so we can have Lawson - plans changed they were proactive got on the phone to lasse and brought him back i genuinely think it’s ridiculous that kennett and scotty and maybe Hans (although don’t know if he really would’ve dropped down) have been blocked, seems a pointless rule harshly affecting very few riders and achieving nothing, but it’s not like they’re not allowed to sign for just one club....it was the same for everyone, it’s equally unfair to move the goalposts 3 months later to benefit a couple of teams when everyone else has built their teams within the parameters set out.
-
Perhaps to be clearer I should have said interesting guess at what the riding order might be - thought it was obvious this being a forum that it was a fans opinion and not an official riding order I was responding to.....thanks for clearing that up in case anyone else was confused hard to suggest where klindt might end up in the team - think reserve is unlikely but doubt he’ll be at no.1 all year - I just thought it was interesting that different people saw quite different orders for the same lineup - some team lineups the pairings kind of pick themselves - never a bad thing to have options and versatility in pairings.
-
Very true! Like many others injuries take there toll on the body and mind and stall the upward trajectory! Fortunately for Morten he retires in good health having said he’s had great fun over the last 15 years! Becoming a father changes perspective and wish him all the luck in the future! I’m sure we’ll see him around Foxhall from time to time over the years, he is part of the family now after all!! with a couple less fixtures this season a farewell meeting at the end of the year may be nice...? No mentions of it though
-
Interesting riding order - I’m not a worky fan so haven’t seen them all around your track but looking at the lineup not at all how I’d put them together! I’d go with proctor at 5 think he’d win more races than klindt there - some good no.5’s in the league that know beating klindt at the tapes is likely all they need to do proctor a bit more of a racer and also a decent starter! therefore I’d put klindt+rasser at 3/4 so you’ve got the Danes together and a gater + a racer in the engine room, putting Bewley at 2 which would also mean in campton increases he’s can slide straight into no.2!! If Rene can get back to how he was a few years back when he and kenni Larsen tore the league apart at Newcastle then could be dark horses! I see improvement in rasser bewley and bickley - but if he can’t I don’t see improvement in klindt or much in proctor so could leave you short in hts 13/15 - all that said and entertaining looking side and great to see young brits in local teams
-
Shouldn’t think you’ll have any trouble going unbeaten at home next year! Great to see Doyle riding in this country next year!
-
So mountain not back at mildenhall next year. Hope he gets a teamplace elsewhere as think he needs to be on the bike more than just the championship throughout the season
-
Had pretty good track craft and team rode well around Foxhall in a few good scoring guest appearances towards the end of this season, while riding at 3 and 4. Happily would’ve seen him in our team next year off the back of that.
-
Agree with that baldy, my only reasoning was to have rory with haertel, riding at 2 with king will mean he’s left to his own devices, king don’t look for a partner very often, he’s head down and go as fast I can. Maybe rory will be at no. 1 after the first averages anyways ya never know!!
-
Agree with this being most likely, another thought tho could be to place rory at 3 with haertel at 4, rory is the best team ride in the team and then have Cameron/nico at 2/5 either way round...
-
As has Hansen I believe

Last season joe had 3 new bikes ready to go from start of season, the best equipment and most investment hes ever been able to make, off the back of 2016 season his best in the sport so far and the only chance he was given all year by any British Club was a month injury deal at Berwick....yes he needs a team from the start but someones gotta be willing to give him a go!
