I’m concerned with the wording regarding averages - riders must have achieved a 3.00 average to race in the premiership - don’t think we’ll be having Drew at Ipswich if that is the case which is a shame although like some have said maybe a full year in the championship before the move up would benefit...
-
Couldn’t agree more, don’t want to move off Thursdays and so many of the other clubs want Thursdays too
-
Fair enough, I was unaware of bad blood between them, I was just basing on the best team around Foxhall I could put together hypothetically
-
Jason doyle 9.57 craig cook 7.64 richard Lawson 6.81 scott nicholls 6.65 danny king 6.46 Nathan greaves 3.25 drew kemp 2.00 adds up to 42.38! note Adam Ellis would be my preference over Danny king but he’ll be in whatever league we’re in I’d imagine! Like others have said tho not a lot of point speculating until we know the league formats etc. Also concede it’s very unlikely we’d be able to prize cool from belle vue! dont think you could put together a much team that rides Foxhall any better than these lot tho - should win every week at home and be capable on the road! Having seen drew go toe to toe with bomber at Glasgow and some of his other rides last season I see no problem in him riding top league as well next year he’d take it in his stride and surprise many along the way imo - destined for the very top
-
Yep good to see that, he’s confident he’ll be ready for next year so I’d assume he will be nailed on to be back in Ipswich colours whatever league we end up in!
-
Both look a bit lightweight for a top league team to me Would prefer jason Doyle 8.96 adam Ellis 6.49 richard Lawson 6.50 scott nicholls 6.48 craig cook 7.69 Another drew Kemp 2.00 working on top flight averages to a limit of 42.5 leaves 4.38 for other reserve meaning you could fit in Coty Garcia/Nathan greaves/James sergeant/josh Pickering/Jake Allen to name a few options!! Assuming they all stayed fit - they would rip it up at Foxhall!! note Danny’s top flight average is 6.46 so could be subbed in for any of three middle order - I’m just worried about if he’d be fit or not.
-
Yup really not a lot more than a fag paper in it! Either way both a significantly closer than Somerset/Swindon his home teams of recent years! To be honest I don’t really the big benefit of this whole asset base thing anyway times have changed - winning trophies yes and having a talisman such as Doyle spearheading would certainly be a good start!!
-
Could be just rumours and people putting things together being hopeful - but the facts are Guy Nicholls is a sponsor of doyley in gp and he lives in Norwich so we’re his most local track which could be a positive in terms of travel for home meetings.

No thankyou to danyon, wells or covatti. I really hope Danny’s arm is healed and he’s fit to ride next year - but hope he’s sensible enough to consider the long term effects/risks if it’s not properly healed, nerve damage can be very complicated, life is long a speedway career is short and not worth lasting loss of use of an arm! I have no idea where he’s up to with recovery, anyone seen any further details?? to be honest hope we go to top league but would still want to have drew at reserve in the top league don’t think it would faze him in the slightest!
-
Well that’s this year over then the inevitable finally confirmed! need a big shake up with the team and track next year it’s not been consistent enough for this year personally would like to see us go into the top league - ipswich produces good racing with good riders racing on it - the track was woefully dry and dusty tonight and yet cook and Lawson had a great few races as we often have seen with Danny and rory in heats 13&15

Ipswich v Glasgow Thursday 13th

You won’t see me slagging cook off on other threads, as far I’m concerned he’s a well deserved Grand Prix rider there on merit he qualified and frankly in my opinion he’s in the top 20-25 riders in the world, his downfall is inexperience on the bigger continental tracks, on tight technical tracks over here he’s good enough to beat anyone! So to call it a master stroke bringing him in at this level seems to me to suggest it’s surprising - to me it’s pretty obvious! the leagues aren’t the same level, closer than they used to be yes but not the same - an example (of which there are many) to show this - Richard Lawson averages over two and half points more a meeting at this level than the top league -

Remarkable really signing a Grand Prix rider in the second tier of british speedway and he scores loads of points! Who’d of thought it hope we get the Mason Campton that we’ve seen earlier in the year and last season rather than the one from a few weeks back! Shame nathan greaves isn’t coming would of been good to see him again! -
Ipswich v Scunthorpe Ch 30-8-18 @ 7-30pm

Disgraceful move from Garrity on kemp - so unnecessary to squeeze him the point of riding into him on the back straight - to be honest he was an idiot all night, I’d imagine Mason Campton will be saying to Scunthorpe I ain’t guesting for you again if I’m paired with him! Supposed to be teammates on the night and Garrity trying to knock him off every race!! i think Gino has ensured tonight he won’t be seen in a witches race suit again anytime soon! fairplay to Garcia rode superbly, and well done to drew looked good all night great move in ht2 and was in the mix in his last one before Garrity rode into him. -
While I still think Gino has potential to improve - kemp beating him 3 times on a track he’s been riding all year in only his 3rd meeting at this level leads me to say no, kind of feel like Gino was ahead of most of the young Americans coming through a few years ago but has now been surpassed by the likes of Luke Becker, Broc Nicol, perhaps the ruml brothers too - so he’ll have to work hard to maintain his eligibility for a visa in the years to come too

Ipswich vs Peterborough 23/08/18

BWD went for a gap that evaporated in front of him, he came from a long way back having made a long straight with a lot of speed - riss just riding the line he wished as entitled to being in front - had to go wide as team and Coty was on the inside, I feel it was a genuine racing incident to be honest but of fault is to be found BWD could of shut off glad to see all three get up and walk away - some big bike bills no doubt -

As someone said in an earlier post I just can’t see how you can replace schlein and king with Newman and R/R and expect to win a meeting! great effort from drew he was on the pace all night - encouraging debut! Coty was good value Heeps poor and improved to average in a couple of races but honestly don’t think he’ll be back in the UK next year, can’t see him being back at Ipswich and really not sure who he’d appeal to on his average covatti poor although a couple of good races later on - too little too late riss did his job - can’t expect him to always be banging in big points Newman woeful season over. tom Bacon superb - have to see he’s improved year on year fantastic tonight -
Why? Just out of curiosity? Always gone very well at Foxhall
-
Campton and m.riss would make very handy home reserves in the top flight! Along with an East Anglian based former world champion @ no.1 and it’s a very good start to team building!
-
To be honest if there wasn’t the time pressure to get our remaining meetings in this would’ve been called off hours ago - track was possibly rideable but was never going to be raceable from what I could see. Farcical it got to the point it did all the riders would’ve been there well before the meeting. Perfect advert for track covers today! Could’ve prepped track to a point covered track - rain stopped around 330-4pm giving them 3/4hrs to ready the track from then on

Forecast for Thursday not looking ideal at the moment

Yes, without a doubt -
No great surprise! Hardly an inspiring replacement for the wolves fans tho imo
-
Kyle wasn’t tentative when he went through his teammate last night!
-
Haha gone all out and got rid of the glass and half filled the bath baldy!? Best hope is a point but can’t see it happening to be honest - their support riders to top boys will make ours look silly imo
-
Chatting with dad last night and think he may struggle for a team next year.... average is likely to stay around 6 can’t see that appealing to many out teams out there - can’t see him being back at Foxhall and it’s not like he’s been anywhere else this year and other teams will have looked at him and thought yeah he looks good...! on another note if it came down to a decision between Scotty or Danny next year I’d have to say I’d want Scott - so good to see him looking for a teammate like rory does
