Hans Andersen favourite in the 1.30 at Curragh this afternoon. Unusual way of trying to find form but good luck to him!

Premiership Youth League
The Cheese replied to BuxtonTiger's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Peterborough's website has the teams listed for their match; PETERBOROUGH THUNDERCATS: Sam Bebee, Max Perry, Ben Trigger, Arran Butcher. IPSWICH RESERVES: Alex Spooner, Sam Woods, Jacob Clouting, Josh Warren. -
Really poor that it wasn't made clear at the time that Ellis was likely to only be a temporary signing, I feel sorry for anyone who bought a season ticket after it was announced. No club in the sport is really in a position where they can afford to lose fans with moves like this, even more so one like Birmingham who have clearly struggled in recent times. It's not difficult to understand that you have to be honest, this should have been in the original press release and I'm sure people would have understood.

I wonder if he's interested in other sports? Sky's Super Sunday viewers would surely double if he joined Roy Keane and Graeme Souness in the studio.

Peterborough v Belle Vue - 9th May
The Cheese replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I assume that Pickering hasn't done anything like that before and probably doesn't know Kelvin too well either so I think he did a good job last night, certainly an improvement on Crump. Going forward I do think they need someone regular alongside Kelvin whether that's as the lead or co-commentator but it's pretty much impossible to replace Nigel and the partnership they had. -
Plymouth Gladiators 2022

With a bit of patience Atkins might well have ended up being the reserve benefitting from extra rides after Gilkes' unfortunate injury. Garry May has always made the most of reserve changes so riders should know what to expect when signing for one of his teams. I remember years ago at Edinburgh in a cup final he took Brady Kurtz out of heat 13 to give the weaker reserve (Chessell I think) his 3rd ride which left Rasmus Jensen able to come in and win it for Somerset in 14. I can see why it can get tough for someone in Atkins position but it's about the team winning. May not only knows how to build winning teams but also gets the best out of them. -
I haven't seen much of him myself but comments on here are always positive. When you consider the amount of doubling-up it's madness that it took so long for him to get a chance in the Premiership. Credit to him for staying patient and taking his chance when it eventually came.

Nice tribute on Sky's Darts coverage last night

Checking again I think perhaps this could be correct. I was looking at Eurosport's website which is different to Eurosport UK. Going by today's schedule, the Eurosport website says that Eurosport 2 is showing Golf from 9.30pm whereas Eurosport UK is showing replays of Superbikes and Cycling. The golf is on Sky in the UK so I assume only they have the rights which would leave Eurosport 2 free to show the GP.

Only just seen this news, can't believe it. Always enjoyed his commentary and partnership with Kelvin, GPs and Monday nights won't be the same without him. RIP Nigel

Speedway On Tv And The Internet In 2024
The Cheese replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Not really worth a thread of it's own so I'll put it here.. This Saturday at 12pm on Talking Pictures in the 'Look At Life' series - "1961. A look at the sport of speedway racing, a sport which satisfies the modern thirst for speed. Also, with a look at how cross-country riding introduced a new hazard of manmade obstacles." Less than 10 minutes long so probably not much to see but might be interesting -

Well done to all involved with Team GB, especially the 4 riders. Unfortunate that Woffinden couldn't be there given that he pushed so hard for the professional setup they have now. Tough on Poland given they finished so far in front but that's the way it goes sometimes. Always felt that whoever faced them in the final had a good chance against Janowski.

Has Kelv put his heating on yet?

I think they do a great job, maybe go too far with the 'banter' at times but nobody is perfect. Compared to the dross on Sky/BT football commentary they are miles ahead. -
Sheffield Tigers v Peterborough Panthers - Thursday

Just watched that without actually knowing the result, described on the BSPA website as 'sensational' and after 2 laps I'm thinking they must have made a mistake! Outstanding ride from Harris. -

Well done to Adam Ellis, best rider on the night so fully deserved. Bewley's time will come I'm sure, hopefully both can make it into the GPs through the qualifier this weekend -
Did a great job with the Speedway Star and always enjoyed reading his posts on here. RIP

Entertaining meeting. Easy to say now given the start to the season but if they stay injury free this Peterborough side does look as though they will be tough to beat. Pedersen, Andersen, Nicholls and Harris might not be consistent enough to be genuine No.1s anymore but they're all still capable on a good day. Palm-Toft is also a solid rider at this level so you only need 2 of those 5 to have a good meeting and the rest to do okay. Always going to have a strong reserve as well. As Dan Christian, Notts T20 cricket captain, said last year - "Old blokes win stuff"
