What Changes Have To Be Made In 2017?
CookieIpswich replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Is there 7 full time gp riders in the uk if you're looking towards next year and no chris harris.... When a sport is dead you make it work for the masses and future riders not the 6/7 riders who wouldn't miss or commit -

I don't understand those fans who don't want to build british speedway and have no gp riders... You're literally missing about 3 riders, those who do the gp challenge will still do uk speedway until they get in the gps Under my ideas gp riders could still compete but I'd make it so that there are alot of meetings for those wanting to race here to earn a decent wage. If gp riders can committ to it then fine but I doubt many would paeticipate if you introduce a league, play offs and two cup competitions Not everyone can ride in poland etc you'll just see future gp stars in the uk improving themselves before reaching the top -

Yes but look at how many riders have equipment for the UK and overseas, if you limit tuning they'll still have the right UK equipment. Take Lambert for example he'll have UK bikes and European machinery so it will not effect anyone. In British Superbikes they have limited modifications and it has worked -

I've come up with a full plan to work on UK speedway from the ground up but unfortunately you will never please everyone But then again people are against to change but eventually come round All roads lead to a north / south league, 6 rider teams 34 point limit and no GP riders Standardised engines or at least limited tuning, one supplier for lubricants, fuel etc bringing the cost down for the riders with pricing negotiated by the series organisers I've come up with a full plan to work on UK speedway from the ground up but unfortunately you will never please everyone But then again people are against to change but eventually come round All roads lead to a north / south league, 6 rider teams 34 point limit and no GP riders Standardised engines or at least limited tuning, one supplier for lubricants, fuel etc bringing the cost down for the riders with pricing negotiated by the series organisers -

We all know the sport needs to be run by people who are not promoters only way to get any credibility -

I agree at present the sport is best off without tv but if my ideas were to be implemented then you.need tv in order to sell it commercially. Speedway won't improve without seeking new revenue streams -
British Speedway As A Brand....

British Speedway needs someone to think outside the box and make decisions based on sport rather than self promotion... They have the SKY Sports deal for X amount of meetings per season They need to introduce 2 x 10 team leagues North & South 6 rider teams Alongside this they should have a title sponsor for the league for example someone like Vanarama would fit the profile extremely well "Vanarama British Speedway Northern Division/Vanarama British Speedway Southern Division" - They should also attract at least two additional sponsors - give all 3 companies branding at every race track in the country as principal sponsors. You could probably get a good six-figure sum from those sponsors. In addition to this - they should have exclusive supplier partnerships with a race fuel, lubricant and tyre manufacturer as the ONLY supplier to British Speedway - negotiate a deal for ALL riders racing in the league to pay a fixed price i.e. bring the costs down - give these companies branding at all tracks in the UK. Look to limit the tuning or standardise the engines like in British Superbikes/Supersport. Have a league Cup..... get that sponsored maybe by a Tool company like King Dick Tools - "The King Dick League Cup" Would be worth at least a 5 figure sum per season Have a British CUP competition that see's all teams enter the draw - again get that sponsored maybe by a company like BET365 - "The BET365 British Speedway Association Cup" That could be worth an additional 6 figure sum per season as the pinnacle cup competition in UK Speedway and as its BET365 give them exclusive rights to stream X amount of cup matches on their web-site! Get Monster Engergy/Adrian Flux plus maybe 3 associate sponsors to expand the British Final into a mini GP series covering 3 rounds - again worth a 6 figure sum which can go into a fairly decent prize fund for those riders competing. Scrap the pairs, scrap the 4's might not be popular but this is a 6/7 rider team sport Loads of ways to push the Speedway brand there whilst boosting the income instead of being reliant on SKY money why not offer TV rights to the League Cup to BT Sports? If the British Final is a mini GP series - if this is not exclusive to Sky Sports already - put it up for negotiation. Yet more opportunities to bring money into Speedway.... I hit on this ages ago but why doesn't British Speedway have its own online streaming channel where fans pay £4.99 per month to subscribe and it offers fans an additional 4-6 meetings per month to watch online which are not televised? If fans dont want to pay monthly, say £9.99 to subscribe to watch one-off matches? Can do free-to-air stream of any cup draws - make the sport look more professional - engage with the fans! 20 clubs x 200 fans paying £4.99 per month = £19,960 or £240,000 per year! Fill it with interview with riders, build some star names, previews etc. Even if subscribers are lower in numbers, it would break even at least but at least on the flip side of the coin, you are offer potential sponsors more exposure to people to buy their products or use their services. and when I say additional revenue - its just not to go into promoters pockets - It can go towards grass roots speedway etc. -

It should be promoted as an Extreme Sport I agree. But how about commercially... its well behind British Superbikes in terms of getting basically anything commercially.... -
British Speedway As A Brand....
CookieIpswich replied to CookieIpswich's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I compare it to British Superbikes.... BSB has title sponsors, national companies, associate sponsors, media partners plus product suppliers to the championship.... British Speedway has just the sky money..... its because nobody is taking responsibility for the sport, just their own club. Its such a mess -
British Speedway As A Brand....
CookieIpswich replied to CookieIpswich's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The problem is that they all have their own interest in their club, there is not one man there for the sport first and foremost, EL level they just rely on SKY money and thats it - there is so much more to be gained -
Take away the product of League, Heat format and tactical substitution rules etc. How can British Speedway sell itself as a brand and bring the ££££ in for the Sport as a whole? Any suggestions

What Changes Have To Be Made In 2017?

Two teams have to be cut - Scunny and Redcar to boss it in the National League...... -
Squad systems will not work as there are not enough riders to go around for 7 rider teams so forget squads.... There needs to be 2 leagues of 10 teams - North and South - keep it mainly local so hopefully more bodies get through the turnstiles then have a big play-off scrap at the end of the season of North/South as well as a regional cup competition and a British Cup that combines all 20 teams. Scrap the GP riders and those who do not want many meetings in the UK. Restrict engine tuning so that its cheaper and that all riders will be able to run a machine with the same power - let the rider skill do the talking.... 6-rider teams if you split it between North & South - its simple.... you can only get a guest rider from the opposite league so you won't see a Berwick rider guesting for Glasgow for example, and limit it, a rider can only guest for one other club 3 times per year that way clubs are not forever guesting the same rider. take a look at my reply in the general boards

CookieIpswich replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Lets me honest about the above teams..... its a list of most of the current Elite League riders with a handful removed because of GP commitments - and they are replaced with a few extra British riders stepping up from the National League...so its actually a mixture between the two.... Depends what way you look at it, but British Speedway needs to rebuild from the bottom up and it would mean teams looking similar to the list I have provided above. -
What Changes Have To Be Made In 2017?
CookieIpswich replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I have said before and it has been said on here, British Speedway needs to head back to basics and grow the sport from bottom up meaning no GP riders and giving UK based riders more opportunities for a pay-day. Bikes should feature standard engines or "limited" tuning to keep costs down and in theory have bikes more equal so its down to ability - pay structure should be fixed as already stated somewhere on this thread. British League South should consist of 10 teams riding Home & Away once, top 4 into Play-Offs British League North as above Mock Up of potential teams British League South POOLE - SAM MASTERS - PAUL STARKE - BJARNE PEDERSEN - KYLE NEWMAN - ADAM ELLIS - MAX CLEGG IPSWICH - DANNY KING - GINO MANZARES - NICO COVATTI - MORTEN RISAGER - BRADLEY DEAN - DANYON HUME KINGS LYNN - ROBERT LAMBERT - SIMON STEAD - MIKKEL MICHELSEN - LEWIS ROSE - KAI HUCKENBECK - JOSH BAILEY LAKESIDE - KIM NILSSON - RYAN DOUGLAS - LEWIS BRIDGER - LEWIS KERR - LUKE CHESSELL - ROB MEAR SWINDON - LEE PAYNE- CHARLES WRIGHT - NICK MORRIS - JUSTIN SEDGMAN - JOSH AUTY - TOM STOKES KENT - RORY SCHLEIN - STUART ROBSON - CAMERON HEEPS - TROY BATCHELOR - DANNY AYRES - LUKE BOWEN SOMERSET -JOSH GRAJCZONEK - KYLE HOWARTH - JAKE ALLEN - TY PROCTOR - ZACH WAIJKNECHT - ALEX DAVIES PETERBORO - KENNETH BJERRE - LASSE BJERRE - SCOTT NICHOLLS - TOM PERRY - SIMON LAMBERT - JAMES SHANES RYE HOUSE - EDDIE KENNETT - KASPER LYKKE - RICKY WELLS - NIKOLAJ BUSK JAKOBSEN - BEN MORLEY - ROB BRANFORD PLYMOUTH - BRADY KURTZ - JACK HOLDER - TODD KURTZ - NICKOLAS PORSING - STEFAN NIELSEN - CONNOR COLES BRITISH LEAGUE NORTH COVENTRY - CHRIS HARRIS - JAMES SARJEANT - JASON GARRITY - BEN BARKER - JOE JACOBS - LIAM CARR LEICESTER - PATRICK HOUGARD - NICOLAI KLINDT - LUDVIG LINDGREN - SZYMON WOZNIAK - CARL WILKINSON - CONNOR MOUNTAIN BELLE VUE - RICHIE WORRALL - ROHAN TUNGATE - JOSH BATES - RENE BACH - ADAM ROYNON - DAN BEWLEY WOLVES - MAX FRICKE - PETER KARLSSON - KACPER WORYNA - DENNIS JONSSON - MASON COMPTON - ELLIS PERKS EDINBURGH - CRAIG COOK - ERIK RISS - MARK RISS - KEVIN WOLBERT - HENNING BAGER - JAKE KNIGHT NEWCASTLE - STEVE WORRALL - MATEJ KUS - MICHAEL PALM-TOFT - VICTOR PALOVAARA - DAKOTA NORTH - JACOB BUKHAVE SHEFFIELD - DIMITRI BERGE - MADS KORNELIUSSEN - CLAUS VISSING - SEB ALDEN - ARTHUR SISSIS - NATHAN GREAVES WORKINGTON - RYAN FISHER - ULRICH OSTERGAARD - RASMUS JENSEN - DAVID BELLEGO - MATTHEW WETHERS - DANNY PHILLIPS BERWICK - JACOB THORSELL - EDUARD KRCMAR - KEVIN DOOLAN - THEO PIJPER - THOMAS JORGENSEN - LUKE PRIEST GLASGOW - RICHARD LAWSON - AARON SUMMERS - FERNANDO GARCIA - NIKE LUNNA - KENNETH HANSEN - ASHLEY MORRIS League meetings over a 15 heat format with the old tactical rule - points scored 3-2-1-0 using the current points system. Thought my dad would be mentioned I wasn't born when he crashed at blackbird road. One I remember of his was at poole between 1988-1992 off gate 4 entering the 1st turn he got caught with tony langdon he hit the fence at the start of turn one ploughed through it and the impact took his crash helmet off and it went flying onto the centre green Remember the poole fan in front laughing saying "cookie has lost his head"

Bored at work so a few suggestions to keep Foxhall rocking next season Introduction of the Foxhall Flyer Leaderboard - Each home meeting 2 x ex Witches riders are invited down to have a few warm up laps pre meeting then during the interval both riders take it in turns to run 4 laps of the circuit with a "Top Gear" style leaderboard appearing updated in the program every home meeting - gives old fans the chance to remember the riders they have liked from the past, gives younger fans the chance to appreciate those who have represented the witches in the past. Introduction of a KIDS Loyality Card Advertise once the season is finished via sponsored posts on social media and local newspaper/radio that Witches are offering a Kids Loyalty card - basically any child under the age of 16 can apply for a card which is posted to them complete with Photo ID - this card allows any cardholder the chance to attend Foxhall for FREE during the whole season if accompanied by a paying adult. Work with Ipswich Town Football Club Start of the speedway season have a team flyering at the football stadium saying Season Ticket holders get £10 entry to the witches home matches all season - The football club would get behind promoting this as it rewards people for buying season tickets. Work with Schools Similar to what the football club do each home match a selection of kids from local schools or perhaps the loyalty card holders can be on the centre green during the parade waving Witches branded flags as part of the parade ceremony. Better Options for Public Under 21's only pay £8 to enter meetings all season, another loyalty in place where if they come to 9 meetings they get entry to the 10th for free - There are a lot of potential attendees at the local College and University! Better Social Media Presence Pay to sponsor adverts enticing people to Foxhall by sponsoring facebook posts targeting age/gender specific people within the Ipswich area Negotiate with Speedeworth There are a fair few "Hospitality Boxes" that Speedeworth rent out at Foxhall - These can be rented and entertain X amount of people for a fee payable to Speedeworth - if its for Speedway you pay for the box but doesn't include tickets (these have to be purchased seperately) - why? The boxes should be part of the rent that the Witches pay - if the club have access to these they can hire these out direct to local business as a corporate night out, birthdays, stag do's etc. Just a few ideas while I am at work
