  1. Immigration isn't the problem with this country but obviously the leave campaign used it to great effect thus highlighting how many idiots live on this island
  2. Clubs need to have a slice of the food sales to survive, surely all could negotiate this with the rent as one
  3. How many riders does it affect who do not reside in the UK looking at it as a guess I'm thinking maybe 15 Elite League riders? They can't expect to be paid in Euros you get paid in the currency where you work but yes can probably see riders asking for a fixed amount to make it worth while before a point is scored
  4. I've been out of speedway for a while only got back into it over the last few years, who actually own their own stadiums now? And would gain revenue from food and drink sales?
  5. Thinking out of the box a little why not have an end of season riders championship screened live on tv but instead of one rider from each team its the top 16 riders in the averages. Get the meeting a big sponsor with a couple smaller ones to have a 250k prize fund and watch the bigger names committ to the UK to have a chance of winning that cash Minimun requirment is completing the full season. Simple ish
  6. Zagar Worrall S Cook Worrall R Lambert Batchelor Jacobs
  7. Cage Warriors is the biggest event in Europe for Mixed Martial Arts, basically what UFC is and BT Sport also have the rights to UFC altho SKY Sports are looking to take that off their hands. Speedway sits alongside Golf, Cricket, Football etc. on Sky - some big audiences but not really their target profile, sitting on BT Sports aligns it against other similar sports. Would you run a promotion and reach 250,000 people and get a few orders, or target your audience to 25,000 people and get 25 orders, I know what I would do.
  8. Speedway will never get on mainstream TV well not at present anyway. BT Sport is the way forward so it can sit on the same channel as the GP, as MotoGP and other sports that BT Sport are adding, but it would only work if there was a fresh approach to how the sport was run (as per the excellent post above). BT Sport I feel would push the sport more and more and advertise it within the production of other two wheeled motorsports which will only help push the sport forward. They of course will struggle initially against SKY Sports numbers for Champions League etc. but the numbers are growing, they are even getting 30,000 people viewing Cage Warriors, Is it not cheaper to run BT Sports than the SKY Sports package as a speedway fan? It's pretty clear that speedway in this country is in the wrong hands - where is the title sponsor for the Elite League? Also it would be good to use any additional revenue to explore the opportunity to have a British Speedway TV Pass online channel similar to what the UFC do with UFC Fight Pass - Yes, UFC is a multi-billion dollar organisation with fans worldwide but something can be achieved on a smaller scale
  9. I hope there is a get out clause because speedway is on the wrong channel, as I've said before speedway is a filler product with sky sports, speedway needs to be on BT Sport who do great things for other minority sports such as cage warriors. Reckon Gospeed took the money they wanted as a down payment then didn't care how long the sky deal was for, the sport needs an injection to boost it
  10. If the witches get past somerset when is the home leg in the final likely to be, going to have to see what funds are available.
  11. Thid post wasn't an attack on poole just interested to see what the deal actually was and who got or gets what
  12. any links to what the deal involves in terms of cash?
  13. British Speedway need BT Sport to potentially boost interest for the following reasons... SKY Sports is simply all about Premier League Football with most other additional sports added to the channel just fillers apart from the major events like the Ryder Cup etc. Speedway means nothing to Sky Sports and the money that Sky Sports invest in Speedway is nothing to them either - Also looking at other sports that Sky offer, there is no reference in comparison to Speedway. BT Sport currently have the Speedway Grand Prix, they have MotoGP and may well be title sponsor of a Moto3 team next year, I believe MotoGP after Football is the 2nd biggest audience for them - so Speedway needs to sit alongside the other two-wheeled sport on offer on that platform, if you are watching Ryder Cup on Sky with Speedway to follow you switch off - If you watch MotoGP on BT Sport with Speedway to follow I am sure a % may well at least watch the first few races and thats where you capture a new audience. Going with BT Sports and giving the sport a fresh face would be idea but only if the Sport is changed in line with a new era, a move to BT Sport cannot paper over the cracks of British Speedway. BT have recently taken on other minority sports such as Cage Warriors who circa 30,000 viewers per event. BT would pay for the rights and you could even include BT Mobile as the headline sponsor of the series as well
  14. British Speedway needs BT Sport - SKY Sports is the wrong platform
  15. If any polish clubs only want riders to ride for two clubs max then it won't happen because say Jason Doyle for example has to drop British Speedway for Polish and Swedish Speedway he'll simply ask the Poles for more money to compensation for his British League losses and thus the Polish will lose out even more financially.... would probably work fine for those riders who only ride for two clubs already. I have been reading these threads with people putting together their 2017 teams etc. and what makes the sport more of a joke is that most of the teams are just Premier League riders with the odd-name thrown in who is GP/Ex GP etc. British Speedway need to put the sport in order and stick to any changes for the next 3 years and stabilise the sport with consistancy. Fortunately or Unfortunately, it will have to lead to 6 rider teams with two being reserves, two being "Heat Leaders" and two classed as second strings built to a 38 point limit with a Northern/Southern split. C'mon...whoever you support put together based on current averages your 6 rider team for next season within 38 points - baring in mind that any riders who don't have a PL average, you will have to take their EL and multiply by 1.4 to get their average for the Northern/Southern split! My Club Ipswich would be Danny King 9.38 Scott Nicholls 8.79 Nico Covatti 7.32 James Sarjeant 5.45 Connor Coles 3.00 Danyon Hume 3.00
  16. 6 Rider Teams 12 Team Northern League 12 Team Southern League 1 x home & away match giving an overall Southern/Northern League Champion with the winners meeting in a two legged play-off for British League Champion Introduction of a British Cup with all the teams in one hat Introduction of a Regional League Cup 4 Groups of 3 teams, one home match/one away match top team in each group progressing to the semi finals. No individual or 4 team or best pair events. British Championship to consist of a 3 round mini GP format. GP riders? Open to them if they can commit to all the meetings. Guest riders only allowed to ride for one team on 3 occasions and can only be obtained via the opposite league to stop someone potentially doubling up in both regional leagues. Two Transfer windows to change riders etc.
  17. Whatever they do they need to stick to the same regs for a minimun 3 years
  18. 6 rider teams can work if you have a Northern and Southern split with 12 teams in each league with any left over making up a single national league. The positive of the split is that WHEN there is a need for a guests its stipulated that you can only obtain a guest from the opposite division and to avoid someone potentially doubling up to cover a long term injury you stipulate that any one rider can only guest on 2-3 occasions for one club. 12 team leagues gives 22 league meetings, a regional cup can give consisting of 4 groups of 3 one home/away with the team top going into the semis etc gives a max 6 meetings, then a national cup featuring a combined north/south gives around 8+ meetings For a rider wanting to earn money thats a potential 36 meetings. I'd 100% make the british championship a 3 round series which would attract a good sponsor and can give fans more opportunity to watch I'd scrap any other individual meetings or 4 team or best pairs Winner of north/south to meet for british league title at the end of the season
  19. We shall be here next year for sure lol but there are people who have been involved in sport who have good ideas but its human nature to object to change which you don't have to agree with but ultimately you have to respect
  20. This thread is about 2017 so my ideas are based on next year, not sure if you have seen my ideas for next year but I'd suggest if you were a gp rider you may rule yourself out. If riders can't double up as its a north/south split they will need lots of meetings to earn
