Wolves V Somerset 8th May
RyeHouseExile replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Never any chance of winning operating r/r for a heat leader. My only criticism of Wolverhampton is the state of the track in the latter heats with all the dirt ending up under the fence and a gap in the shale on the first bend.Daft using TR against Freddie ! -
Just read the news about Adam on the Wolves website, very sorry for him as he was obviously making a big effort.Hope he gets a place somewhere else.I am surprised Ricky Wells is not considered because as others have stated he performed well at PK's meeting.Has he done something to upset the Wolves management ?

As I said, keep on paying and you will have nothing worthwhile on Free to Air,merely lining Murdoch's pockets. You are also obviously satisfied with only a few Speedway meetings on TV for the whole season instead of regular coverage.
-
So we are to take it you have freeview then ? {You mean Matt Chapman } Freesat actually,Got it,sometimes he sounds (but will never emulate ) John McCririck who should be brought back ! Further,I cannot stand how he reports odds on prices, drives me barmy ! Oh for the days of Peter O'Sullivan,Julian Wilson,Jimmy Lindley and Richard Pitman. So smooth and professional.I could even cope with John Francombe and the much missed Lord Oaksey.

I have never paid for Sky and will certainly not pay for BT.I have not had phone or broadband from either of them and never will.If all you out there stopped paying them every sport would be on free to air terrestrial channels i.e BBC,ITV,Channel 4 or 5.The former 2 can certainly ensure that televised Speedway meetings would not be shown in the region of at least the home team so no effect on the gate.It is all you out there paying Murdoch and BT who are keeping sport off free to air channels. One of my other sport interests is Horse racing, now confined to rubbish coverage by ITV (The pictures of the Grand National were awful and I cannot stand the guy who covers the betting ).So keep paying chaps and keep the sport away from wide, free coverage including lower leagues who could do with the money.

So every country outside the EU is on the slippery slope to collapse? Sorry to go off topic but we prospered before the EU and we will prosper after it as long as the pessimists and those who are beaten before they start are defeated.I cannot believe that the EU will cut off its nose to spite its face regarding trade. For those who can remember that far back, the value of the pound sterling dropped after we left the ERM and heralded years of growth.Greece is an excellent example of the disaster that fixed exchange rates bring.Economies go in cycles, the strain is taken by the exchange rate.

I have not read all the thread but it must be realised that foreign riders over here have expenses over here, thus the only effect will be a percentage reduction in their profit, not their gross income. They will also suffer ( like the rest of us increased cost of imported goods they have to buy here like fuel ).Having said that,it may be that methanol is produced here from non imported raw material, but I have no idea how their expenses break down. However, overall I doubt there will not be a big reduction in profit for them. Just one thought about the referendum vote and other matters raised here.I voted out for several reasons but if there was only one.it would be that for the last 40 odd years we have been lied to by politicians and dragged whether we like it or not into a corrupt and dangerous organization, namely the EU.If they had given us a choice in the first place, the pain would have been non existent. Now we must make the best of a new opportunity and everyone should contact their MP to tell them to do their utmost to that end.I used to like the way this country was but I do not like the way it is now;almost exclusively changed by immigration, again caused by politicians without reference to the electorate. Not racism, but preference. However,I have no problem with foreign riders,it is up to home grown talent to emulate and surpass them.

Well Done To Max Clegg.
RyeHouseExile replied to Sidney the robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes,has really improved in the last few weeks, the stopwatch does not lie.Good for him. -
As a newcomer to this site and a returning speedway exile,I do not know anything of the history of speedway on TV.I think it would be far better if the free to air broadcasters got in on the act especially as there are so many meetings in this country.Their great advantage is that they can exclude regional showing of matches i.e they would not be shown in the region either team in a meeting, therefore not reducing the crowd size.It is a pity there appears to be no conduit for fans who would like to see more of the sport on TV to persuade those in charge to enable the coverage to be shared between Sky and the free too air providers.

Wolverhampton V Poole. Elb. 5/9/17
RyeHouseExile replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
At last Jakob is riding a bike instead of a bucking bronco ! Freddy just needs his bike to be a bit faster,he was clearly short of speed on the straights and has been the last few weeks. Also, have they done something to the track ? Track record broken last week and many heats run much quicker. -
Wolves V Lakeside 22.8.16 Return Of The Champ
RyeHouseExile replied to stevebrum's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I was pleased to see Max Clegg ride with so much improvement and his times proved it although the track was riding very fast last evening.Freddie just did not seem to have the pace but I hope he will not be affected by recent upheavals and carry on being an important member ( and captain ) of the side as he has done a good job this year at No. 1.As an ex Rye House fan I would have liked to have seen Edward Kennett score more but not at the expense of a Wolves win ! I just hope our No. 3 does not jump ship at the end of the season.Well done to all the other members of the team. -
Cradley V Birmingham Tpnl 15 August 2016
RyeHouseExile replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
Well,I said it in regards to Wolvehampton's reserve problem, although Max seems to be improving with winning times on Monday night close to EL winning times. If Steve Boxall is still interested in riding,Cradley could do much worse than offer him a place.i have no connection with Steve apart from having seen him ride a few times including the individual event at RH in 2013,and he certainly gives 100% which is what is needed to support Max and Ashley.Only takes a phone call,Cradley management. -
18th July 2016 - Wolves V Swindon
RyeHouseExile replied to dump that clutch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Nice to see the reserves doing so well tonight.Max managed to hit the gate, just needs more consistency there, his times are getting closer to EL standard and Kyle Howarth seems to be getting to grips with the track.PK just terrific. -
How about Steve Boxall instead of Max Clegg.Has ridden well at Wolverhanpton and I do not think he has a team at present.
