  1. So Derwent Park for the ball games...and Speedway over to Borough Park..simps...........get shifting that shale asap.
  2. Great stuff.......despite the sad state our beloved sport is currently in....we can still laugh !!!!.......... (although 'sunny Saturday's' hurt a bit now)....
  3. Is it safe enough material to use as foundation infill for the new (soon to be built) Allerdale stadium ?
  4. So that's all we are left with now at the former home of the Champions, etc, etc .......i.e. watching grass grow.....I have also been doing some painting on a Saturday night then enjoying seeing it dry, in sunny weather too..but be careful marra because there but for fortune go you or I.........let's wait and see.
  5. It's just not a good enough area to develop though.........for all Derwent Park's many faults is was still a palace compared to some purpose built facilities..e.g. large and proper grandstand, concrete terracing etc....I always recall being disappointed at Barrow's out of town Park Rd. stadium...it was awful, and never popular with the Furness public...therefore short life span. Northside would be much worse.
  6. I think those folk do a laal bit of shopping around the town though....but don't make a major difference as you indicate.
  7. Not a good look as of today is it..things are looking a bit worse in fact.
  8. Yay good one THJ........Bernard Manning lives on eh.. lol.................Hey there 'Derwent'.........think I've sussed you ID...not 'banking' on you 'telling' me tho..... ha, ha.
  9. That's not good for tracks without local supplies....awful delivery price.
  10. Yes someone said they had followed a wagon-load to Northside..a journey of less than 1 mile....but not sure if it would ever get used there..probably just a convenient 'drop off' point.
  11. Plenty shale being removed from Derwent Park...not sure if can be re-used but someone could ask ?? (long journey though)
  12. Ha ha..Sellafield is the place for grafters for sure..............I somehow managed 30 years of it. Miss my speedway fix big style....but too old to travel far nowadays....TV the only way for me I'm afraid.
  13. Ok sorry marra........I didn't take the photo...it was on facebook.....as I said to show DP developments.....Can't see speedway getting back on there ever.
  14. Walshy did sterling work on behalf of Comets before he was lost to them...he did however do a live commentary last season, for Radio Cumbria, on a Friday night meeting v Peterborough. He is still flying his pigeons....and luvs those big spending 'Sky Blues' of Manchester...sadly.
  15. Hiya THJ...the 'Kiwis' twined about most of Derwent Park.....their main one being about the smallness of the changing rooms...mind they were mainly very big guys.
  16. The guy at the front of pic is a good bloke...it was the view of the arena that was the purpose of adding it, just to show the work done so far...sad to see.
  17. Doesn't the Rye House track have similar hills on their centre area ? lol......
  18. A shame indeed.....his input at Comets certainly helped the euphoric atmosphere in those treble winning performances........and was always a top announcer!!!!!
  19. Just used the quote to attract your attention ha....but I was just wondering THJ if you know what such as Tony Jackson, and Dave Hoggart, are doing re speedway now following the demise of Comets? Presumably the latter announces at other tracks?
  20. Is speedway the only sport that leaves so many fans feeling frustrated, even hurt, by the loss of their club... most sports battle through bad times I think.
  21. It most certainly was tops, and a fair track for all......memories are all we are left with....very sad and surely painful for all speedway fans who saw the place in full flight.
  22. Think you might not be alone with that problem marra....
  23. This so sad business is gonna run and run...but given that the speedway will cost a lot for anyone to bring it back to life, and I have been given some incredible figures on that, it seems impossible for us to see the Comets rise again, sadly.
