hi . just to add .the garage was self funding and was  doing okay . the biggest thing that helped it to be closed was the pits closing down . i think it was number 10 pit and two others that were local , not sure tho . the bulk of the work came from the miners and their cars  . they would go to work , first and  backshift  and leave their cars for any jobs that wanted doing . speedway never closed the garage down no matter what people say .(thj) . the bungalow over the road belonged to me . but if you go back a long time to the thatcher years in power. she was the one that ruined an awful lot of things for us cumbrians . her plan was that she could buy coal cheaper from abroad than mine it in the uk !...  no mine = 4 shops, one chippy and a pub (the ship) all suffering the same fate of no customers , no cash .. .

the garage was later sold on to mr Ron Harttey  of pelican garage, whitehaven . he rented it out for a number of years ,prob 20 yrs .  the land was sold for building houses on . 1 large brown house and a couple of smaller houses where the fuel pumps used to be . my old man sold everything sweet ,fags  , heating oil , gas  even had an mot station setup in the middle workshop . as for losing my inheritance (as thj put it ) it was not mine to lose . i had my house . all monies went to my parents rom the garage sale  as agreed in early years .  dont believe everything thj writes about me . 

just to add  he keeps saying i was crying like a babe when i was refused entry in dp . at no time did i whimper or bubble . my main worry was how to get back home as i came in someones car !but workington speedway were desperate for my money and eventually steve let me in. to witness the glorious 2018 season . one thing i will add is that when talking to thj a few weeks later , he told me he was trying to send me a msg but it forum would not let him . he told me he was not very good on the computer and now he is a full blown tech wizard , hence my suspicion that the writer was in fact steve whitehead . but as all bad lads do , they make the small guy look the bad boy . so time and stuff moves on , but not for some . he sent me a pm saying that if either he or any of his friends ever have anything to do with a speedway venture  that he and his mates would not let me in . strange but true .

anyhow singy , that a lowdown on a life of grime and eddies enjoyment for the speedway at workington .
