  1. Indeed - I suspect he won't be back for the Poole meeting on Wednesday as it's the last day of Perks' 28 day contract but should be available after that.
  2. He's back! http://www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk/news-centre/article/2017-08-14/back-comes-mark?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
  3. Right decision but the meeting would've finished as planned if BT started at the supposed 7:30 start time though, rather than 10/15 minutes later.
  4. That works out quite well anyway - good chance to watch the meeting on BT instead.
  5. I do agree that British Speedway needs to be proactive rather than reactive to whatever the Poles bring in, we should be getting our rules sorted in advance as you say.
  6. Well, we should win at Poole but considering our recent away form, it's not a sure thing! A shame they didn't, if you ever get the chance to stick to Poole then you basically have the rest of British Speedway cheering you on.
  7. Yes I agree - I noticed that Belle Vue used it at no2 today. Think our team manager(s) are missing a trick here. Howarth is good enough to ride in the 1st string anyway, especially at home.
  8. Allowed an opinion yes but to be so openly disrespectful about British Speedway which has helped him so much? No.
  9. I know right - the ban shouldn't apply to the winter break, he shouldn't be allowed to race in GB next season. Hopefully he chooses not to but I suspect he will so he can base himself over here on a VISA !
  10. Holder talks about British Speedway with such disdain and aloofness in public anyway, perhaps he's best if he didn't ride over here anymore. No doubt the sport in the UK could improve but he doesn't aim to be constructive with his comments, especially towards fans on social media - just rude and condescending. I'd like us to bring big names back to the UK where there's a mutual desire to do so between club and rider, not in Holder's case where all he does is rubbish the sport in public anyway. Rather the Swedes and Poles who spend less time moaning about the track and more time racing. As I've said in other posts, the Aussies benefit from British Speedway the most........they shouldn't treat it with such disregard once they turn into a half decent rider.
  11. Just seen the result - bloody fantastic Have Poole been relegated yet? Middlo gets what he deserves on KK, calling out a rider so publicly on Twitter early in the season was never going to be a wise decision!
  12. As many have said - somebody is badly needed who is independent of the clubs. A CEO figure if you like. It's like having the owner of Everton running the Premier League - how is that supposed to be a successful business model?
  13. A shame that the ban includes the winter break but it's a start and hopefully a useful deterrent for the future.
  14. Absolutely agree - team has been far too top heavy this season. Seems like he has got all the support he needs to me, just hasn't turned up. Greaves has outscored him pretty much every meeting and he's a 2pt average rider.........
  15. Well, another loss but not surprising. I'd rather we use a Guest than have Perks ride for us again to be honest - tries his best but nowhere near good enough to be a no6. Should've got a draw at least when you look at the results but getting a 5-0 against us towards the end of the meeting proved costly. Another off night for Schlein to put it mildly - has been like that for 3 of his past 4 meetings now. Well rode by Freddie, Howarth, Jacob and Greaves though.
  16. Can only see a Somerset win here, especially with Masters out. Would take a consolation point but I'm not sure we will even get that when you consider our recent away form.
  17. Probably nailed on that Matt Ford will sign them both next season, in Holder's case on a very attractive average. But it would be nice if all promoters could take a stand and tell them to get stuffed. I was sympathetic to their concerns at first (like to hear both sides of the story, plus I don't think Chapman is the right man to essentially be running British Speedway) until their unprofessional, snobby and arrogant remarks on Twitter to both Kings Lynn and Speedway fans in general. If you're a PROFESSIONAL sportsman, then you should act like it. I'd rather we try harder to attract more of the European lads to come over here, maybe not the top ones for reasons we've all discussed but rather mid level guys such as Sundstrom and Gomolski. I don't see many of them constantly whinge about tracks, whilst my Twitter Feed is full of Aussies doing exactly that. End of the day, the Aussies benefit the most from British Speedway - they come over here as youngsters and develop whilst the UK also provides a comfortable base for them where the language and culture is similar. Then when they are trained up to be good enough for the Swedish and Polish leagues, it provides a relatively easy location to travel from, by which time they're settled, sometimes with families etc. That's great for them and I have no problem with that, but British Speedway shouldn't be treated with such disdain in return by the likes of Holder who probably wouldn't be as good of a rider as he is today without the stepping stone that our leagues provided for him. It should be a Win/Win situation for both parties but I think it's quickly turning one sided at the moment.
  18. Kings Lynn to finish bottom? Somerset to make the playoffs? This season has been massively topsy turvy, not easy to call for sure. Sounds like it was a decent meeting.
  19. Probably but will he want to base himself in Poland? Different lingo, culture etc. Australia to the UK is a bit more of a seamless transition for 6 months of the year, especially for somebody as young as him.
  20. Whilst the standard of the league is decreasing each season, I think fans can just about stomach if it means the sport in the UK becomes more financially and sustainable and more Brits coming through. However, the biggest problem is that the prices aren't reflecting that, very little change over the last few years and if anything, a slight increase to see an inferior product. It makes no sense from a consumer or business POV.
  21. Ford is getting what he deserved after publicly ripping into his riders when it's his fault that the team he picked at the start of the season wasn't good enough, relying on KK to be your no1 was solely his decision, nobody elses.
  22. He doesn't have a clue quite clearly, what a farce. As to think this guy is the Chairman of the BSPA too.......no wonder the sport is in such a bad way in the UK.
