  1. Barry Duke still a familiar sight around the town with his ponytail, always has time for a chat. Still lives in Penhill. Didn't Roger ride for the Rangers?
  2. Mike Keen and Geoff Bouchard great club servants, with riders such as Munday, Hitch, Holloway, David Ashby, etc., backbone of the club, and half were local lads. Hitchy my favourite with his famous fourth bend divebombs.
  3. Briggs, Hitch, Broadbank, Kilby, Ashby, Adams, Zagar, Doyle, Ward, Andersen, Kildemand, Richardson, Gjedde, Stead
  4. Was chatting to Colin at Swindon last year, about the time he beat Knutsson at New Cross 63, PL Select v Southampton. The penultimate meeting at the Pan.
  5. I went regularly 63-72, then lost interest to birds booze betting and music, got back into it after a 30 year break when living up in Cumbria and going to Worky. Have been attending most Swindon matches and Cardiff GPs for last 13 seasons.
  6. The obvious world beaters Fundin Mauger and Briggs. Ryan Fisher was bloody hard, and Carl Stonehewer and Rusty Harrison up at Worky. Clive Hitch, Pete Munday, Bob Kilby, Jason Doyle, Hans Andersen, at Swindon, and Nikki Pedersen at GP level, are just a few, plenty of Poles and Russians, with special mention to Chris Bomber Harris...well ard
  7. Crumpie was a terrific rider for Swindon. A long line of good Aussies at The Abbey, the brilliant duo Adams, Ward, both sadly now in wheelchairs, current number 1 Doyley, and Morris, Batchelor, Johnston, young Crumple, Street and the rest...
  8. Remember when Mauger knocked Kilby off at The Abbey, angry Swindon fans on the GREYHOUND track. Smuggled out under blanket in back of Mercedes, to avoid being lynched by the natives! Pedersen v a lot of riders at the Cardiff GP, dirty sod. Andersen v Pedersen was very tasty! Mauger and Olsen were dirty buggers
  9. Autrey was class at Swindon, also Gresham, Mc Connell the wheelie king, Ryan Fisher ard as nails, and the fantastic old man Greg Hancock still going!
  10. My fav was Sverre Harrfeldt, also liked Rune Holta, Ed Stangeland, Odd Fossengen and Reider Eide. Great names as well.
  11. Yes miss those Thames Valley derbies, Swindon-Oxford-Reading, plus Newport and Bristol and the west London trips. Also Zummerzet will be missed this year. With Coventry not running Poole is nearest, nearly 80 miles away.
  12. He became rubbish as well at Swindon, a true leg end ole Jerzy!
  13. It's the Republic of Tassie, New 10 Favourite Tasmanian riders thread!
  14. Good to see Teo has a close named after him on the new Blunsdon Meads development near the Abbey.
  15. First Scandanavian for me Ove Fundin won 1963 World Final. Bjorn Knutsson at West Am one of my favs. Fundin probably best ever rider IMO.
