On facebook...It's Speedway Time..and also..Lee Ashby did an interview with Briggo. Event at Blunsdon House Hotel. Martin in wheelchair.

An event yesterday at a local hotel attended by ex-riders and about 200 fans of the Robins. Ex-riders Briggo, Broady, Keen, Dukey, Ashby-looking very frail, Nilsen, Davis, Bouchard, and others in attendance, plus books, bikes and memorabilia for this famous old Wiltshire club, sadly now defunct. Never got the chance to defend the 2019 League and Cup Double.

Hi mate, I would have but he hasnt ridden lately. What a rider for the Robins, 2 times title winner.

Excellent entertainment, in difficult conditions, a credit to this once great sport. Well done Sheffield, especially Steady, excellent manager, and all the changes they had to make, losing 3 top riders, a massive comeback win. Belle Vue the top team end season with nought. But 3rd. and 4th. placed teams contesting final. Well done Ipswich, cup winners, great watching Sayfutdinov and Doyley, top 2 riders in League.

Belle Vue vs Ipswich (playoff semi 2nd leg) 25/09/23
Ovalman replied to SamKM91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Superb advert for speedway, fantastic final heat on super track. Ipswich looked down and out weeks ago, now could win Double. A master stroke with Emil and Doyley in team. -
Excellent advert for speedway, some great racing. Didn't go this year, was in v.i.p. section last year, but was poor track and racing, the day saved with Bewley winning. Will probably go next year, have been 10 times, after watching this year's on Eurosport, if trains are running, hate the drive there and back. If all meetings were like this speedway wouldn't be in doldrums.Well done Vaculik, great effort Holder. Unlucky Anders Rowe, Wootton Bassett lad and ex-Swindon number 8, second then e.f.

Poole v Oxford 9/8/23 Championship
Ovalman replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Jason Doyle and the Swindon Select side didn't have any problem with the track when they won there this year. If you're good enough you can win on any track, as Swindon proved for a few years at Poole before they folded. Top riders like Doyle and Masters can master any track, mentally strong. -
Oxford vs Scunthorpe - Champ - 2/8
Ovalman replied to Bojangles's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Didn't risk travelling up from Swoinedown for this. They needed to call it off earlier as they have spectators travelling from places such as London, Reading, Coventry, Milton Keynes, Glos. etc., -
World Cup - Wroclaw July 2023
Ovalman replied to Monarchs2468's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
With 6 heat wins to the Poles 4 we should have won it. Thought we might early on, but full credit to the home nation, and brilliant riding from especially Zmarzlik. Aussies unlucky with Holder getting injured. If most meetings were like this speedway would be massive again, great TV, fantastic atmosphere. Not too keen on the SoN. Good to see the Swindon connection, Steady and Allen ex-Robins, Ashley Holloway, son of Malc, Tom Brennan, a Swindon born lad. Rasser Jensen, Jason Doyle, Adam Ellis, in 2019 Double-winning team. -

Bloody superb night of speedway, decided in last heat. Great advert for the sport. Well done the Brits, and Jensen and Lambert riders of the night. Extraordinary World Cup Final. -

Would have gone for Wright, Lawson, Worrall, Harris, King over Brennan and Ellis. -
Oxford vs Glasgow - Champ - 19/7
Ovalman replied to Bojangles's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Cant see why the cut-off is so early, the school hols are just starting, would attract loads of kids with no lessons the following day. -
Oxford vs Glasgow - Champ - 19/7

And clinched the Premiership Double in front of their own chanting, cheering fans, which unfortunately was the last ever meeting at The Abbey. -

Cheers, as Plymouth and Brum are so poor be too one-sided, whereas Scunthorpe are a pretty good side, ran Poole close down there. No away team has hit 40 in league at Ox so far.
