  1. 3000 buying progs, merchandise, parking, etc., much better atmosphere it were. 12 quid is about right.
  2. Blimey that was a while ago. Went there and next door to St Clare in 70s..now derelict. Well it was 7 years ago when I went to speedway
  3. Barry Bishop does a great job promoting on the island.
  4. When engine tuners are paid 350 quid a day no wonder it's so expensive. The spiralling costs for the riders make it difficult to compete. Perhaps introduce standard 2 valves, as they trialled at the IOW recently. The recent Kings Lynn matches at Swindon was 18 quid entry attracting a 1000 or so for both meetings. In 2017 over 3000 turned up for a fiver.
  5. Good to see Glasgow and IOW crowds are up, good promoting paying off.
  6. He was never the same rider after breaking his leg against Ackney in 1969, happened right in front of us. Fantastic rider and captain for the Robins, spoke to him last week on the Blunsdon terraces.
  7. I was at that one, Clark Facey only had a handful of meetings for Swindon, 5 for 5 points. Rode for Exeter and Weymouth. Must have been wet for Pete Munday to score paid max! Broady near to retirement.
  8. Christ what happened to the other 750 that went in 2004/5? Used to look forward to my Saturday nights travelling from Carlisle to Worky speedway.
  9. Swindon get around 1200, a couple of bigger crowds earlier in season, and slightly more during school hols.
  10. A letter in this week's Star saying Glasgow average crowd 2100!!! Bloody hell more than Swindon, Belle Vue, Ipswich and Poole!
  11. The Robins could be stronger with R/R. Can remember Wolves winning the Grand Final 1st. Leg in 2017, and then years ago when Woffy scored 7. Apart from that not much. Total contrast from the Monmore track. Morra should go well. Will go 50-40.Would have liked to have seen French Dave in. Best wishes to Adam.
  12. Probably why over 40000 fans attend the Cardiff GP annually. 3 hours of entertainment, good facilties, and the ticket prices haven't increased for years.
  13. Concern from Lee Kilby about low attendances this month. If the decent racing and weather can't keep peeps interested what will? Can't be getting much more than a thousand paying customers, looking at the crowd at the 2 Lynn fixtures and Ipswich meeting. Perhaps not enough rivals, 6, to make it interesting.A new stadium would help. Seems the ice hockey team get better crowds these days! We cant afford to go every week at 40 quid a pop.Our neighbours have been a few times, enjoy it, but said a bit expensive, and too much time watching tractors!
  14. Hopefully the amiable Frenchman will fit in elsewhere.
  15. Never ventured north of the railway, it was the Dilly and the fine Old Town hostelries, The Stage, The Bell, The Beehive, The Plough, with Friday night discos at Swindon College, Christ Church, with the Brunel Rooms, The Affair, Vadims, gigs at the Underground Suite, Wyvern, Town Hall etc.,
  16. We used to get the green bus from Cavy Square, mostly us cockneys from Parks estates.A lot of the Pinehill lads walked across the fields. Was a cheap night, climbing in.
  17. Pinehill not that bad sidders, worked there as debt collector and taxi driver, and now have a children's air ambulance charity box in the stores. Takes more donations than any others in Swinding.
  18. Not as fine as Liden St.Margaret, Royal Stratton Bassett, Tootbrook, Peathurst
  19. Didn't look very good crowd..but Lynn were in town recently. About 1100-1200? Some good racing, well done Doyley on new track record.
