I think it's well known that Swindon and IOW crowds have increased. -
Will the premiership start on time?

Yes my sister is in Poland at present, everything closed. -
Disappointing that the Wessex derby has gone from the fixtures, and the bigger crowds. Swindon have certainly been Poole's bogey team in past few years.

Welcome back Crumple. Wish he had signed for his local team Swindon.

I had not attended a speedway meeting for about 30 years and went along to a Worky meeting in 2004. I was hooked again, especially watching Steady ride, almost unbeatable there. Great that he got to ride for Swindon years later, and Wrighty. Still have the programmes.

They reckon 9000. But hundreds climbed in

Sad there's no speedway in Cumbria now...but they went out on a massive high!!!

I was there. Excellent article in Speedway Star this week saying Americans were given home pits, Gresh and Autrey rode for Swindon, and it seemed a big portion of the English crowd were supporting the Yanks. Some real needle between the teams as the English dominance of the 70s was ending.

Favourite Rider and team you support favorite rider

My first fav when I started watching speedway at New Cross was Jimmy Squibb. Then Olle Nygren when I supported Wimbledon, Barry Briggs at Swindon, Simon Stead at Workington, and Leigh Adams when I moved back to Swindon. Jason Doyle fav now. Was also a big fan of Peter Craven and Bjorn Knutsson in the 60s. -
He always had time to chat to the fans, as did all the riders in car park and pits. Great bunch of lads. Loved my Saturday night trips to DP in 2004/5. Especially the Fours, with over 2500 there. Why did hundreds just stop going? And what a way to bow out, winning everything.

Some excellent articles in there this week...Danny Ayres tribute, Swindon track review, English team in 70s and 80s, and big rivalry with Yanks, Lee Ashby feature, Lindgren interview, etc., Good magazine for this minority sport. We should support it.

He likes pie n mash an all Chris Keef

Real character..Bow Boy and Ammer..although bruvver Terry is Orient fan. Good feature on BBC West tv.
-
Excellent tribute in Star this week.
-
Good interviews with Doyley Lindgren and Janowski as well, plus England speedway team in 70s 80s, and the 1980 test v USA at Blunsdon.
-
Ronnie Russell featured on BBC West tv news tonight. Swindon track review in Star this week, with tribute to Danny Ayres, and feature on Lee Ashby, well worth read. Didn't realise Danny made guest appearance for Robins.

And ask twice, more effective. "Are you sure you're ok?"

One of the few riders that responds on Facebook. Real character, always had time for chat, photo, and autograph with fans.Need more like him. Was really about to take off this season at the age of 33. Such a shame his mental health overwhelmed him. Should be some kind of memorial meeting or contribution to his wife and kids, to help them, as there was for Lee and others.

Tragic...R.I.P.

Thinking of visiting the event there on Sunday 23rd.Feb.Is it worth a visit along with the wildlife park?

Was chatting to Rusty Harrison on Facebook messenger earlier. Part of that super Comets side of 2004..Stoney Steady Kauko Aidan Wrighty Woody. Moved back to Oz 5 years ago with partner and kids. Was sad that they closed great memories. Friendly, volatile guy that always gave 100% for many clubs.
