Not the same without the big 2 Swindon and Poole.
-
But he's still above Kerr
-
Kerr nowhere near top 10! The Worralls, Kurtz, Nicholls, Bomber, Howarth, Wright, Douglas, Andersen, Pedersen, etc. are better this season. Morris, Ellis, and Cookie should be in top 10. Batch a big disappointment so far.

My first season of watching speedway, aged 7, have all the progs from New Cross 1963.. Squibbo was top rider, my fave was Penniket.
-
With local track Swindon not running, next nearest Zummerzet not running, and no Cardiff GP, no speedway for me this year, therefore no interest.
-
12000 officially at The Abbey for GB v Sweden in 1968. The queue for people climbing in, my queue, was longer than the turnstile one, so far more packed in. In 2019 when Swindon won the league and cup double there was 3500 there.

Still chat to Reg Luckhurst on facebook messenger. Some faves from the 60s..Craven, Fundin, Squibb, Penniket, Knutson, Briggo, Hitch, Nygren, Hedge, Luckhurst, Ashby, Kilby, The Boococks, Betts, Broadbanks, Wilson........

Watching speedway at all the London tracks. Climbing into speedway at Blunsdon and getting money back on hubbly bubbly bottles. All my mates getting the special speedway bus. Rosettes, souvenirs. Big crowds, lots of teams, lots of away fans. Speedway on bbc and itv. Results and league tables in daily papers. Golden Helmets and individual meetings. Local heroes.

I drive past 4 times a day, cant see anything at moment. Spoke to one of the main sponsor's, he doesnt think speedway will return there. It's a dying sport, and Covid is killing it off

Like yourself we followed the Rangers, half hour walk from our Peckham home, until they closed in 63. Jimmy Squibb was good number 1. We then went to Wet Spam, because the great Knutson rode for them. Also Wimbledon and Ackney. Still remember that fateful night when my dad came into my bedroom to say Peter Craven had been killed. Had his rosette on my wall. My first shale hero. For me Fundin was the best I've seen. But moving to Swindon in 68, Briggo became my number 1. He was top rider for mid 60s I reckon.

With Swindon and Poole not competing surely a great chance for Wolves to finish top of league for first time. -
Some fine racing from Manchester, well done Quest

Looking forward to watching the highlights on Quest tonight.

Well done Anders, from Royal Wootton Bassett. Chatted to him at the Swindon Dinner Dance, October 2019, a nice, quiet, unassuming lad. -
Was a regular at New Cross, Wimbledon, Ackney, Wet Spam, Worky, Swindon, plus visited Coventry, Zummerzet, Reading. Only Newcastle, Belle Vue, and IOW still running
-
Lee Kilby does a fantastic job at Swindon, will do the same at Eastbourne. Good Luck for 2021 Eagles.
-
A good read but not quite the bumper edition of 2 years ago with the Covid affecting the sport. Not the same without the top 2 Swindon and Poole, and Zummerzet, only 6 teams.

Championship League Predictions
Ovalman replied to W9 Lion's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Will go Glasgow, Leicester, Poole, Eastbourne. Redcar top 5, with Kent, Plymouth, Newcastle bottom 3 -
Always thought the old airfields at Wroughton or South Marston, by Honda, would be good place for a track, seeing all the new-builds at Blunsdon and the Lydiards. Lee is great with the fans, good luck at Eastie.

Decent bloke, and we have Lydiard Tregoze and other exotic places such as Washpool

Premiership League Prediction 2021
Ovalman replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Wolves Sheffield Belle Vue Ipswich Kings Lynn Peterborough -
The Wolves look favourites for the title.

Have massive respect for the Mancs, probably the most successful team in history, and like the Wolves seem to have been around from day 1. Peter Craven was my first shale hero. Surprised they havent won the League since 93. Not as bad as Spurs though! Enjoyed my visit with Swindon to Vue around 2004, good fans apart from a couple of those mouthy Madchester Mexicans.

It gives the minnows like Belle Vue a chance to win a trophy Swindon and Poole have been dominant in recent years.
