As us yokels know houses start from 200 grand up at that there Blunsdon. Not one complaint was made before. Lee was great with the fans at the Shabbey, a real buzz around the place, culminating in the champions titles in 2017/19. Fingers crossed for something positive for those fanatical Tangerine Army fans, with those tracks closing recently. A club statement would be good PR.

More trucks more sections

Good crowd. Don't know if any of you are rugby fans, my cousin's son-in-law Scotty played for Worky, think he moved to Leeds? My rellies live in Prospect near Aspatria. One played union for GB students, one cousin coaches Wigton juniors RL. Remember when I lived there briefly that Cumbria was a League hotbed, apart from Carlisle which was football. One relative remembers going to the first speedway meeting at DP, 1970, hundreds got in for free across a pipe over the river. Next meeting it was greased so peeps fell in.
-
What crowds do the rugby team get? 2004/5 the Comets were averaging 1200, what happened to the missing hundreds? A pity they folded after winning the treble.
-
I've seen him in there fondling melons doesn't attend speedway now, but always helpful with stats and history stuff.
-
Didnt go for most of 70s, 80s, 90s, but fortunate enough to see Briggo, Broady, Ashby, Kilby, Adams, Doyley, Darcy, even Zagar and Andersen in Robins racesuits.
-
Is he still running the workshop? Some fantastic Swindon number 1's in that lot. Doyley the only one to have won League title 3 times for the Robins. Shame the other 2 Aussies never won it.
-
Crash was perhaps too quiet and modest. I called into his workshop in Marlborough about 6 years ago and asked for his autograph to send to my bruv in Australia."You want my autograph?" he said, looking surprised, and duly obliged. Nice bloke. Was on the Abbey terraces for years until ill-health curtailed that.
-
As Briggo said of Ashby " at one time he was the best rider in world but didn't realise It!".

Don't know about capacity, but 2007/9 Grand Finals v. Cov and Wolves the Shabbey had crowds of over 5000, with hundreds of away fans. The 2012/ 17/19 finals v. Poole, Wolves, Ipswich were not as well attended, probably not much higher than some league matches, it was quoted between 3000-3500 for the three. Around a third of fans lost to the sport. Very few away fans at the last two finals. In ten years hundreds had lost interest with the ever weakening line-ups, and promoters increasing admission prices almost every year to cover falling attendances. The biggest crowd I've seen there in the last ten years was when they charged a fiver admission. I remember a 4's tournament could have been 10 years ago? Swindon, Oxford, Reading, Cradley?, well attended, a few from Oxford and Reading there.
-
Surprised big points hitter this month Ryan Douglas or a couple of the other Wolves table topping team aren't in there. Batch has been the biggest disappointment this season. Good to see Adam Ellis doing well.
-
Speedway was massive in early 80s, as it was right from mid 60s till then for around 20 years. Don't know why it lost its popularity?
-
Going to Worky in 2004/5 rekindled my interest in speedway after 30 years. Steady and Stoney superb riders. Some great atmospheres, especially the 4's. Crowds averaged 1200.
-
Have been to the dogs at Monmore, but not seen speedway there.
-
I'm for the GP. Although Covid has cancelled the last two Cardiff GPs, have enjoyed all nine I've attended. A good day out.

It was a great racetrack, saw Swindon there twice, once won there with last heat 5-1, then were thrashed.
