  1. Good to see speedway back there. Will travel the 30 miles up from Swindon for a few meetings.
  2. Don't know if he still has his motorcycle workshop in Marlborough, popped in for a chat a few years ago, he was shocked when I asked for his autograph to send to my bruv in Oz. A quiet, modest guy. Was on the Blunsdon terraces up to about 3/4 years ago, due to failing health. As was said by Briggo could have been world champion. Perhaps the only time he lost his temper was when someone put deep-heat in his pants in British dressing room when he was captain.
  3. Oxford and Reading rarely had the same level of support as Swindon. Bristol had massive crowds. Coventry well supported.
  4. Today, Craven, Luckhurst, Keen, Hancock, Ward
  5. Fantastic guys..even people who don't know about speedway heard it on the news. Daft scoring, but thems the rules, and GB are World Champions
  6. Any idea of attendances at both legs..Boro looked full.? I liked the bike cams, good tv presentation.
  7. How many finals have Vue lost since their last win in 93? Fantastic atmosphere and advert for British speedway. Big crowd..and Madchester Mexicans!
  8. Roads on nearby estate honouring past riders, Richardson, Kilby, Holloway, Kurmanski, Teo, Hewlett, Malone, Shuter, and the only one still living Hitch.
  9. He's certainly up there with Fundin, Mauger, Briggo, Moore, Craven, Olsen, Michanek, Collins, Nielsen, Gundersen etc.,
  10. My only memory is watching Bjorn Knutson at the stadium after New Cross closed. It was a far bigger track than the Pan.
  11. The doggies not affected. Another nail in the coffin for British speedway, and disappointment for those few thousand Robins fanatics that celebrated the double success 2 years ago on the Shabbey terraces.
  12. Fans will lose interest if closed for another year..not good news for those fanatical Robins fans. Speedway is going down the pan in this country, clubs folding, fan numbers down Just Cardiff GP for me next year.
  13. Good line-up look forward to next year, and Cardiff.
  14. He mentioned that meeting when I spoke to him at Swindon a few years ago. I still have the prog as well.
  15. Friendly guy and very good rider. Spoke to him at Swindon few years ago recalling the time in 1963 when he beat Bjorn Knutson at New Cross riding for PL Select against Southampton. Survived the terrible crash in Belgium that decimated West Ham. R.I.P.
  16. Have Bomber and Ellis not been top scorers September?
  17. As Windon have won 66% of all Premiership titles, 2017 and 2019, as big as anyone. Over last 10 years Poole are the most successful then Robins. Swindon have been Poole's bogey team in recent years. Obviously can't compare to Belle Vue, Cradley, Wembley, Wimbledon, Oxford, Ipswich, Reading etc., at their peak, when speedway was big, last century.
  18. Rosco saying stadium might not be ready for 2022 racing season.
  19. Just a few more near to main stand. One of the main sponsors lives just over road. So more or less same as 2019. Most roads are named after ex riders. Most fans had given up hope, including a sponsor.
  20. About 20% is social housing but don't know if they are near track. Fantastic news.
  21. They need more seats at The Shabbey, the main stand has only about 50 seats, not including the restaurant area. That back straight shed certainly needs removing. Good idea to have tapes and pits there with new seated stand.
  22. Yes mate they are moving pits because the existing one is next to someone's back door. So doubt if they will demolish main stand before next year???
