Why does everybody hate Poole?
Ovalman replied to FishersGate's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Was classed as a local derby when Swindon Wiltshire rode Poole Dorset, even though over 70 miles apart. Some people jealous of Poole's success I suppose. Don't hate them as I have Dorset ancestry, the Knobs. -
Warsaw GP 2022 Saturday May 14th

Another good GP...massive crowd of 50000 -
They could still lose some fans that would rather pay at gate on night. I will make the journey up from Swindon a few times this year.
-
I managed to salvage an Izal bog roll, the only light bulb, and blue plaque which read "Lord Lucan was ere".
-
What was crowd compared to first few meetings, can you pay at gate now?

1963 New Cross v Ackney Awks, I was 7.

Good to see the Ox back.

Can remember when Brighton and Hove Albion were known as The Dolphins before Seagulls.
-
Swindon Town were once known as Railwaymen and Moonrakers, now Robins, same as nearby Bristol City and Cheltenham. Charlton were Robins now Valiants, since mid 60s. Also known as Addicks.

As an aside Bomber appeared as a Guest in 2 finals against Swindon, on the losing side both times, for Poole and Wolves.
-
Probably. When Swindon rode was told about 400 gained entry to the stadium, a mix of staff, sponsors, officials, media, relatives, guests, and friends, and some freeloaders and hangers onwhich arent included in attendance figures.
-
Probably be sell-out for first 2/3 meetings, then hopefully pay at gate. What is capacity? Could have probably seen 4/5000 there.

Will people be able to afford to go
Ovalman replied to bri1966's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Looking at the amount of quality cars in the Blunsdon car park when Swindon rode some peeps can afford it. If it's promoted correctly, e.g. IOW, and good VFM fans will turn up. I will travel the 30 miles up to Ox for a few meetings. -
A map on Facebook from the Star showing the teams competing that season. 12 still running, 25 closed. Plus Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Redcar, Plymouth are now running. Hardly any southern teams left now. Oxford return.
-
They only recently updated it, adding lights, bog rolls, doorlocks, hand wash facilities The stadium rebuild is progressing, walls demolished, grass banks levelled.
-
Good to see Greg in top 5 for 3 decades running.

Sad to see the famous Blunsdon Back Straight Bogs have been demolished in the stadium rebuild. Should have been a listed building
