What size crowds are they getting? -
Hopefully there won't be a reduction in crowds once the Summer trophy takes over from Championship fixtures?!
-
I liked the Oxford programme, my bruv filled his in then I copied it next day. A souvenir of our visit. I agree it was a bit repetitive in parts but good quality nonetheless.
-
Would definitely recommend a visit to Oxford for those fans that dont have a local speedway team to watch. Quite a few Robins fans there from Swindon and district, plus other former nearby clubs such as Reading and Coventry. A few from London and south-east as well. Good stadium, easy access, good facilities, some good racing, and big crowd around 2000 with noisy atmosphere. With Newcastle closing with crowds of less than 400, and general negativity surrounding British league speedway it's good to see this success story in central-southern England.

Will try to sit in grandstand next time. At Swindon there were only about 50 seats in grandstand so if you didn't get there early no chance. The view high up from bends 3/4 at Oxford was excellent. Even spoke to a Swindon sponsor who attends regularly. I attend football matches at Cirencester, Chippenham and Hungerford, definitely would be lower crowds if they didnt take cash on gate.
-
Agree they should collect cash on gate. How old is the building on home straight, looks fairly new? Also do you have to pay more to sit in grandstand? Would rather watch outside but struggle standing for couple of hours, and can't take chairs in.
-
I could have collected a box of shale from Ox 2 weeks ago, that hit us on nut
-
Bought the entire set of New Cross home 1963, for 7 quid. My first year of attending. Have 1960 Swindon v New Cross. The Ox v Glasgow prog from 2 weeks ago is an excellent read. Bruv from Oz attended, adding to his collection of 510 programmes.

Cookie deserves to be in there, rode very well at Oxford couple of weeks ago. Highest scoring at Glasgow, number 1, better than Basso, Brennan and Ostergaard. Sedgmen also riding well. Douglas and Etheridge looking the most improved riders this season, Batch disappointing. Masters number 2 in Premier as well. Good to see Harris Howarth and The Worralls going well.
-
Doyley by far the top rider. 9 riders that dont ride in Championship. Good to see Toby and Bomber up there. Batch and Cookie disappointing.

My bruv, a Swindon fan living in Adelaide Australia, was supporting the Aussie Cheetahs with 4 of them in side, plus 1 Englishman and 1 American. I believe last week was also a last heat decider, going the way of the away team. My other bruv and me were neutral. Was good to see speedway again after nearly 3 years of inactivity at Blunsdon. Would like to see Swindon, Oxford and Poole in Premier again. Impressive facilities, decent loos and good catering, decent programme, and not far to walk from Unipart car park, shuttle coach is also good idea, even doggies allowed. Better view from higher up on bends 3/4 than 1/2, and no flying shale! Preferred pits on bends 3/4 than back straight, and would rather pay on gate. Will definitely go again. Oxford have a massive catchment area, nearest senior club to Greater London, millions of could be spectators. Good luck Oxford

Must have been around 2000 capacity at Oxford against Glasgow, the crowd went wild when Oxford got a 5-1 in last heat to win it.
-
We live in hope. At least I visited Ox to watch some speedway. Big crowd, nice stadium, good racing, couldn't support them though. Be great to see them, Poole, Windon in Premier. No teams left in south/west now. Fans being kept in dark at Blunsdon.
-
They didnt check at the Unipart car park if there was pre-payment. Only 10 mins walk from there. Would be good if pay card on gate.
-
Very enjoyable warm evening with bro from Australia, 4 Aussies in Oxford team, and bro from Swindon. Some good racing and big crowd. Good, clean facilities. Like the car parking, got bus there, walked back. They should take cash on gate though, would get more fans. Good luck Oxford.
-
Coming up from Swindonia with bro from Australia. Have booked tickets, is there regular shuttle bus from Unipart car park to and from stadium, can you bring chairs or standing only, is stadium grub decent? Hoping for good meeting, I suppose if the Cookie is fully fit and no Scotty should be Tigers win. Will go 44-46.

Just saying no information is available for this page

The problem arises when opposing fans and their dogs are fighting

I follow non-league football, dogs allowed at nearly every ground.

Killing the sport

Not just rising fuel costs but some tracks want fans to book tickets in advance, should still be able to pay cash on gate, which would suit some older fans, plus weather considerations. A 6 team league is no good, the season is starting later and later. Poland has got it right. -
That's why I'm dubious about booking tickets in advance. I saw somewhere you can pay by card on gate? Due to visit on 22 June v Glasgow, bruv from Australia will be coming along. After the initial 2000 capacity crowd looks like plenty of room now on terraces. Can't see why they're not allowing pay at gate as not everyone has smartphone or wants to pay online.
