  1. Great to see the Maryport lad on the new track.
  2. Can remember when speedway was March to October, over 30 home meetings for Robins. Late August and September is normally decent weather for racing. What size attendances do the first and second teams get?
  3. An early finish to the season mid-August, only 4 and a half months of speedway, but very successful comeback with some big crowds and some good racing for the Ox. Great stadium.
  4. There was a great pass near the end when the water tractor overtook the grading tractor. In the Star today" expecting riders to perform to the best of their abilities on that track was like asking the Bake Off finalists to produce a cake without any flour or sugar."A large number of big stones were found on the surface.
  5. Great to see so many there, but don't think I would attend the event again, weakened pairs, hardly any passing. Good stadium, Oxford have had great off-track success on their return, good luck to them.
  6. Another surprise home loss for the Ox. 4 wins, 5 defeats. Would have been heavier with Masters riding.
  7. Don't know mate we normally get the cheapest, varies from 20 to 39 quid over the years. With over 40000 seats unsold this year probably a bigger choice of seating positions. But then you can buy the cheapest seat and move into a dearer one.
  8. Thanks eric ido you have attendances for any other years?
  9. They fence off some lower tier seats, perhaps 10000?
  10. And the EFL had it's highest opening day attendances for years. 19000 at the GP, nearly 19000 at Cardiff City game, and 5 figures for the Hundred in Cardiff. The city centre was packed. Can't see the speedway getting 20000 fans to return though. Never see 40000 there again unfortunately When Swindon were running used to get coaches full of fans going from Blunsdon, plus the cars and couple of hundred on the train. Quite a few from Newcastle also. Other clubs have closed since. What happened to all the Poles? It's on in September next year so still clashes with the football. A lot of fans were moaning about the difficulty in getting the digital tickets. We always get ours from the ticket office on day.
  11. 19000 looked about right around a quarter of seats occupied. How many do they need to make it financially viable.
  12. We saw a great GP full of passing in nearly every race, especially when Pete Kildemand was involved, think it was 2015 when NKI won, 40000 there. Must be serious concerns about the future, if 20000 disappear. Great that Dan, the Maryport marra won, happy faces leaving the stadium, saved the day. Despite the crap racing, and all the other hassles, still the best speedway day out for us, with the carnival atmosphere. May go next year, may not.
  13. 2 Tickets...from a very kind Swindon fan who couldn't go..FREE..in the V.I.P. section..would have been £180! Food and drink in stadium..£25 Programme..£10 Parking park n ride County Hall.£10 Fuel..£30..Swindon 160 mile round-trip..3.25 hours there..2.00 return. 75 quid..bargain!!!
  14. I loved my first Cardiff visit, 2005, soo different to Blunsdon. The racing was no different just the atmosphere. I took a young relative to a GP but they lost interest at Swindon. I'm sure the crowds will be back next year, August not the best time to hold it, several adverse factors. The Championship Pairs at Oxford the previous night had poor track, poor racing. The long drive and heat was worth it, to see a Bewley the Brit win, fantastic. Great performance from ex-Swindon skipper Doyley, 3 crashes yet reaches semis.Ard as nails Jason.
  15. When you're sat there for 5 hours in that heat on Saturday, 4-9, you need at least some water/ drinks, can top water bottles up to stop de-hydration. An elderly guy in front of us had to be helped to his seat by a steward and given water. We took sarnies, ate them on the way down from Swindon, in the stop start traffic you always seem to get from before Newport to the tunnel, about 10 miles. We still bought some overpriced rubbish grub in stadium. The majority of people travel there and back same day, a tiring day, but well worth it. A 160 mile round trip took 5 and a half hours!
  16. Out of the 10 GP's I've been to the meetings with Pete Kildemand involved have been best for me. Fans go to Cardiff more for the experience than the racing. Perhaps the crowd was over 10000 down from 2018/19 because of 1. Train strike 2. The heat 3. Holiday season 4. Nowhere near the number of Polish fans 5. Dominance of eastern Europeans/ absence of Russians 6. Football season 7. Hassle of obtaining tickets and price increases? The racing at Oxford the previous night was no better.
  17. Greg Hancock was saying to Scotty Nicholls yesterday that when he rode on temporary tracks such as Cardiff he would use a different, heavier bike, as lighter one would take off over ruts. Before the semis yesterday some riders in front of us at bend one, the worse, were slowing down like a junior/ amateur rider going into a bend. The tractors, rakers did a good job to get it rideable again, farce of a situation.
