  1. If & it’s a very, very, big if Tuesday’s meeting goes ahead. They should already be in a comfortable lead. Can’t imagine advanced ticket sales are strong. Could just be tumbleweed on the terraces to witness the Mighty Pirates hand out the beating… Pirate Pride!
  2. Are you looking for a day out in the Ocean City? unfortunately as others have said the planning restrictions limit meetings greatly. However running the Centurions and helping secure the development of the future Ablitt’s, Kemp’s etc is a worthwhile and entertaining use of available Tuesdays. Certainly helps out the other clubs without the foresight to do so….. Could be worth a trip down for you? Beyond that, I think there used to be the odd car boot sale etc.. Can let you know if any happen, if that’s your kind of thing?
  3. Speedway track sat dormant in late August would have been a real good look.. As I’ve said. We were ready to go. Tom Brennan quoted in Speedway Star as saying when they arrived, all were happy to race. Then the Ref instructed a section to be dug up and relayed. We all know that doesn’t work 30 mins before tapes up. Forget team loyalties.. How would you feel with that chain of events at your Club? Mark out of pocket to the tune of £4K ish. Disgruntled fans. Slagging-off in social media. And denied the chance of rightful league position. Mark should be reimbursed and cut-off date extended in my view.
  4. It was a rearranged fixture being accommodated within the cut off period … What more do you expect of us? .. Leave all of August clear in case of Referee meltdowns?!
  5. Agreed.. And we had.. The track was ready. The crowd was in. The Riders were ready to go. The Polish sausages were cooking.. Then the ref instructed the destruction of the track. Don’t think there’s a club in the country that had planned for that one.
  6. A “ref wanting the track dug up off” could possibly have been considered extenuating circumstances.
  7. Really????? After a challenging 48 hours of weather. At 6:30 the promotion had the track in a condition that Tom Brennan confirms all were happy to ride. The referee then, against the wishes of the promotion, instructed, unnecessary, unwarranted, ill judged remedial works that rendered the track, arguably unsafe. He then took the decision not to allow Richie to test the track and called off the meeting. The Call Off was entirely caused by the Referee. Mark has every right to be angry. He should be reimbursed for all losses incurred, and the league cut-off date should be extended to include the running of this meeting.
  8. I’m constantly staggered that people post names of riders on here as suitable potential signings, thinking Garry and Mark are going to be sat at home kicking themselves for not having thought of them….
  9. Superb… Get your licence quick. Several clubs could do with your help.
  10. Fine seasons for Barker, Bowtell and Gilkes until circumstances intervened. Morley exceeding expectations when called upon. Hans not always banging in the big points but playing a unifying captains role throughout. Injury plagued season for MPT that’s prevented him getting in his stride. A tantalising glimpse of what he could offer before being sent into the fence at Wimborne road. But obviously only the guests that have got us to the playoffs eh!! Still hopefully a chance that Eddie’s available before the end of the now extended season. Those of us that have seen him dominate around the Coliseum know what he’s capable of and that on that form few guests would have matched him.. Doubters will doubt and I guess we’ll never know how it could have played out. The deserter being the only proven error in judgement of the starting seven. So, onto the playoffs! Still the un-fancied underdogs. Let’s go and ruffle the plumage of the leagues elite.
  11. He must be making all of his 726 followers accumulated over 5 years of tweeting really chuckle… We can all only dream of achieving so much.
  12. Yes, fingers crossed… Gives a warm feeling knowing so many are thinking of us.
  13. Some people don’t believe the moon landings happened.. There’ll always be fantasists and idiots. Still, nice that people care so much about us now. Wasn’t long ago nobody bothered with little old Plymouth.
  14. Congratulations to both clubs, promotions, management and all twelve Riders; you put on a superb show.
  15. Enjoy your night down here at the coliseum. Hopefully you find us a hospitable bunch.
  16. I’m sure others are getting as bored of this as I am, so last one from me. Here’s what I said. If to you its a defence so be it. Not intended to be. Don’t know any facts so have no opinion. Once concluded, we’ll see. Anyway. Great line up for the Gladiators. Well done Gary and Mark. Hopefully the Brummies do well in the guest market too. Here’s to a good competitive meeting.
  17. Only people who don’t know what defence means, and bizarrely confuse it with a statement of fact…
  18. I think you may have quoted the wrong post? Nowhere in mine do I defend anyone. Neither do I add opinion on adequacy of testing. Merely pointed out that interpretation and application of the rules as they currently stand aren’t complex. And are they only thing that matter on a thread discussing tomorrow’s meeting.
  19. It’s not overly complex, surely? Non-negative result = Precautionary suspension of licence, pending findings of the B sample. As such, presumed innocent until proven otherwise. Of course Gladiators entitled to use a guest facility. Of course he retains the clubs support. Would the forum prefer a firing squad at this stage?
  20. Terminology used until confirmed (or not) in laboratory.
  21. Then later announced Hans now available as Danish meeting cancelled.
  22. 4 forecasts and a specialist forecaster consulted.. Currently near Plymouth getting wet.. I’d say an excellent proactive shout.
  23. The press release says two to six weeks and it’s BB we’re talking about. Couple weeks I’m guessing.
  24. Guess Henry realised his actions had as much impact on the result as those that donned their Kevlar’s and rode! Classless act going on the parade lap. Stayed behind to applaud the Chargers as I thought they rode well. Would hate to think Henry thought my applause included him.
