  1. The racing is far better now than in 70's as modern bikes are more stable and powerful. Pay a visit if it's possible racing on Sparrington Farm is excellent.
  2. Excellent what line up with the chairs. I'm under hospital treatment but will do everything to get there.
  3. Does anyone have any information about the line up for the next event at Bromyard?
  4. Lighten up lads they make a superb duo knowledgable, random, funny and friendly banter all rolled into one. More, more, more !!!
  5. I understand it was a Sidecar Cross accident is that correct. Marvellous rider and always competitive.
  6. Land = Housing = Builders = Expensive Corner Cut Buildings = Ripped off Buyers = Dosh = No Speedway
  7. Ha ha brilliant I'm of mature years and not well but can see the funny side. I'm enjoying the Speedway coverage on Quest and Peterborough 'Dads Army' lol.
  8. I remember him riding at Monmore Green a very neat rider with an excellent armchair style.
  9. I remember Marstons Merry Monk Mild 4.8% superb until Banks's ruined everything. Look like they'll be swallowed by Carlsberg.
  10. I went out with a girl who lived by the Rough Hills Tavern. The old dears used to cram into the off licence and pour back halves of mild !!
  11. Happy days slag off Ole Olsen even though he was a brilliant rider the proponent of the Grand Prix and the demise of British League Speedway. Bank's Mild, Hansons Mild, Highgate Mild no McDonalds, Wimpey Bars selling a meal that filled you up. Tom Johnston was a 'Spoon' but an excellent supporter of Speedway. Fantastic memories of the BLRC at a packed Belle View except the tragic loss of Gary Peterson in 1975.
  12. And Bank's Mild in the Forge Hammer on the way down !! Lamp Tavern after Dudley Wood on a Saturday then into the Curry House for a Chicken Phal !!
  13. We're on the same page. Unfortunately Greyhound racing is in decline too. This is the problem with foreign riders they go where the money is and dictate when and where they ride. Home-grown riders could still hold down another job and weekend racing could become a norm. Our short-sighted administrators have been forced into a position of midweek racing with riders understandably with allegiances on the Continent. What's better than finishing work on a Friday then taking in a speedway meeting a natter and a few bevvies !!
  14. I can see your point but I think it's fogging your vision of the future regarding league speedway. I used to be like you until I engaged with some of the people running speedway and it gave me a very jaundiced view of speedway and how it is run. Berwick sounds buoyant but unfortunately that's not the case for the majority of teams. If many more tracks close Speedway as we know it will be in peril.
  15. Your digging a hole and it's getting deeper? So no tracks are closing due to the demise of British Speedway bought on by foreign rider demands and overheads?
  16. While Wolverhampton are top of the league it's hardly helping the continuity of speedway bringing in so many foreign riders. Worryingly there probably won't be many teams to ride against soon. Having home grown talent would probably be more conducive to the survival of British League Speedway?
  17. An excellent viewpoint. I watched Belle View v Sheffield and the grandstands were half empty with little or no atmosphere very worrying. I can remember Hyde Road with 30,000 spectators and bursting at the seams with people and atmosphere.
  18. Given the news about Eastbourne the Shale Track Championship is growing legs. The Berwick model of speedway is failing unless you want to race Leicester every other week !!
  19. You know what I mean. I'm only trying to support this new venture what's wrong with that?
  20. No wonder speedway's in such a mess. Still Berwick and Leicester can ride each other on a Saturday night !!
  21. I totally understand but there isn't a track operating on a Saturday night and the ones that did have closed.
  22. They are not sideshows to replace team racing more of an addition to what we've already got. Speedway has become very Anoraky and I like the variety that these events offer drawing in more of a motorcycle enthusiast. Lets face it watching exactly the same 500cc bikes going round in 4 circles is stale. My brain needs a bit more stimulation.
  23. Speedway as you know it is finished and we have to move on. It's like Brexit living in a world that passed us by tears ago. It's getting a bit lonely on the terraces and it's so sad as we had some fantastic times following British League Speedway. British Speedway has lost it's way as I said about Kings Lynn looking like a builders yard. Flat Track Racing, Grasstrack and Oval Racing will hopefully complement team racing?
  24. Has anybody been to these events and any comments would be in so useful. If speedway is going to move on Barry and his colleagues need the support of everyone. I wish I could join in with this movement but unfortunately I've been very poorly.
