  1. 3 home wins ……….. they will pick up nothing on their travels (a bit like us and redcar probably) bad luck on the Jorgensen front …………… when it rains it pours in Middlesboro !!!
  2. Oh course George could be waiting for trigger happy Rathbone to sack Nicholls ..... I was surprised at least 4 didn't go after the Workington debacle ...........
  3. good signing Jorgensen - completely rebalances your side ............ just what we want up the road ...... the wooden spoon could be drifting back Newcastle or Berwicks way (of Glasgow given their recent home form )
  4. I know speedway seems to make the rules up as we go along ... but what is the position on lewis rose ... do we get indefinite period of guests or rider replacement or does he actually have to be replaced at some stage
  5. I never said they should … I said could they have look at the end of the day …. its up to them to get the track in time u think its bad luck ……. I don't .. I think it was poor planning …. but we all have our opinions
  6. Erimus 11 - it would be more fun if we both fighting for the league like in the good old days of the 70s and 80s, rather than trying to avoid the wooden spoon
  7. I think winning anything this year was never on the cards. This is year is about keeping the club solvent for 2019 and we were last to team build. We have been trying to secure a number 1 since January but there's little available. Im sure George and Martin haven't given up, but if there's no -one available on Sundays there's little we can do Im yet to see anything on Kus being released, but I only see him getting in through injury. To be fair Carl is riding to his average, to ditch him would be very unfair and even less unlikely (not Georges style). Kus is currently way out of form and although potentially a steal at 4.76 .......... there's no guarantee given the way he is riding that he would outscore Carl
  8. bizarrely I don't know their Saturday commitments and you almost imply a flight being delayed is a rare occurance that no one could anticipate 90 minutes plenty of time? - that's assumes no issues with the flight or travelling up to Newcastle on a bank holiday this fixture hadn't just been arranged - its been set for months, so it was up to the brothers to arrange a suitable plan to get there with time to spare if you think travelling from Denmark to Newcastle via Stansted on a bank holiday weekend with only 90 minutes float to the start of the meeting (never mind getting equipment ready) is reasonable that's fine - personally I don't .... they were pushing it .... even just an hours delay and they would been struggling
  9. That's not the way George operates (and full credit to him for it unlike other promoters who axe at will) ..... his is very loyal to his riders and only removes riders who are seriously under-performing - after a bad start to the season I would say our riders are beginning to perform better than their current averages .... look at the turn around in lindgren and wethers, whilst Ashley and tero are currently 7 pointers on 5 point averages we just need a solid number 1 with an average over 8.5 to replace rose and we will have a competitive side.............. alas theres none available
  10. Have they ? I saw pijper was axed but nowt about kus
  11. Not much Retiring - is a permanent decision to leave ........... which can be reversed at any time and often is Taking time out - he might at some stage in the future return to speedway Either way - he doesn't want to ride a speedway bike atm
  12. don't think redcar will drop kus on that average and also I don't think hes available to ride for us on sundays I hope we are not signing a 5.20 foreigner......... it will weaken the team further given the other 5 are NOW riding to average or better and Robbo is coming back ... its just a case of getting the best rider who can as we have 9.64 to replace rose
  13. Hold on - Newcastle have a rider injured and rider who has retired (his contract with Newcastle is effectively terminated) Redcar had 3 riders that failed to turn up - now 1 will miss the next 7 days and the Andersens have a flight to pay for It was Redcar that made the meeting a farce ... not Newcastle or the rules (even if Redcar had been allowed a facilty I doubt the management could anyone in time ... that's why they had 2 local lads riding instead of NL riders) And as for rubbish happens ... landing at Stansted at 11.30 to ride in Newcastle at 6.30 is pushing it and not the greatest planning of all time
  14. I think landing at 11.30 at Stansted on a bank holiday weekend was pushing it anyway .... they would leave Stansted til 12.15 at best and would get to Newcastle til 5 ........... so they were leaving themselves 90 mins spare time ............ that's not my idea of good planning ...... as ive said on another post flights being delayed is hardly uncommon unless they were riding on Saturday .. why didn't they come over on the Saturday
  15. I agree there are a lot of under-strength teams but in the last few years this has been down to injuries and the doubling up rule and the stupidity of some of rules regarding guests (made of good reasons but with consequences) Im not having a go at Redcar or their promoters as I would say this about sheffield, lakeside etc - but this was non-attendance by 3 riders … leaving Newcastle out of pocket and those attending short changed ……….. barker apart … it was not a competitive meeting what has been the biggest disappointment this year is the attitude of quite a lot of away riders who have decided Newcastle is not rideable and are beaten before the tapes go up
  16. Yes Redcar should be fined and as it said the fine given to Newcastle to compensate them for the lower crowd and the frankly the very non-competitive meeting supplied to those who attended Strangely flights are always delayed ………. but I cannot recall the last time and rider failed to make it …… the riders have contracts and its there responsibility to get there.... end of ………….. And what meeting are you on about ?
  17. Apart from Barker who was superb entertainment, it was a poor meeting with Kus,Pijper and Stewart very poor. Even the diamonds looked embarrassed but you can only beat whats put in front of you Full credit to the Redcar promoter for apologising and making the offer Crowd was better than I expected … which was something positive
  18. through injury and a retirement ………. not riders failing to make it ……… big difference and Newcastle's guests have strengthened the team away from home ……………………. so when a team with an average of 36.9 rolls into town with r/r and 2 nl riders ………. its hardly going to be entertaining
  19. not my problem …. its the upto the riders to get themselves to the track as I said this is supposed to be a professional sport ….. I don't see in other sports a team only turning up with half a side
  20. redcar should be fined with the fine going to the diamonds as compensation for what will be a lower crowd whether redcar then fine andersens is upto them however this is meant to be a professional sport ...and its upto the riders to get themselves to the track
  21. i read wethers was effective from 26th, but the greensheets now seem to indicate 1st June - just typical of the confusion...… boy does this sport need a barry hearn or someone to sort this sport out anyway surprised we have gone for doolan as im sure rider replacement would get more …….. still our under strength diamonds should be too strong for the NEW wooden spoon favourites the Redcar Bears
  22. diamonds now have 10.10 points to replace rose ................................. just a pity there is not a 9+ heat leader available perhaps sign craig cook and then use guests to cover all his meetings ...... a good heat leader would transform this team diamonds do need to sign someone quickly as tero and ashleys averages are bound to increase ... and continuing with a guest and r/r will soon catch us out at home diamonds will be weaker with Ashley in main body ............. always better for your team to have a reserve averaging 7+ who can take 7 rides ............ but given how wethers rode on sunday ............ he should make a mockery of his current 4 point average from reserve
  23. it was a good meeting with passing and plenty of effort by all but 1 brough park is a technical track and its about attitude of mind any decent away rider will always score if he attacks the track those that arrive believing they cant ride the track .... don't ...... but perhaps they should watch how their teammates ride rather than just trundling around the track
  24. This is just typical of the complete twisting of quite a reasonable comment by people determined to defend the indefensible It was ranting roy who said there would be 'new faces' and since then we heard bugger all from the club again Did I say I wanted daily updates ??? Did I imply that ???? But you think its acceptable to say nowt .......... and that we should just accept it .............. frankly that's bollocks and its that type of attitude that is killing the sport ............ (David Howes analysis was spot on) All the club had to do was given an update - even if it was to say that we were are persuing opportunities but have been unable to agree terms (or whatever maybe the truth) .............. I personally do not think that is too much to ask ............ Im not demanding details ........ merely an update Anyway on a positive side ....... it was brilliant to see wethers score some points and look so determined ........... and overall great effort by the rest of the lads ................ for Berwick summers was superb as per at brough, howe and doolan tried. however they were always going to struggle with jay having a night to forget and danny just deciding he couldn't ride the track (pathetic really ... at least jay and Nathan gave it go - and look at Simon Lambert ... he wouldn't put Brough in his top 100 tracks but he tried his hardest)
