There are times you have to hold your hands up and say we were thumped by a better team, last night was one of them. Bears outgated, outrode, outfought and outclassed us - congratulations to them and their promotion on the victory. early on it was a gating contest, but as track dried and lines appeared there was excellent racing, and if my team hadn't been getting battered it would have been a top quality meeting! Thought most of Diamonds tried hard, but not good enough, top plaudits to the skipper who looked on the pace and the one rider to constantly trouble the Bears all evening, that was until he decided to try the Ben Barker line in heat 15, to realise that it wasn't his most sensible decision ever! Well done to Connor Coles, yes his points were earned from taking advantage of the favourable inside gate, but he had to ride hard and not make a mistake, which he did. As to Robert's comments, total tosh - comes across as a spoilt brat not getting his own way, he got pushed out in heat one off gate 4 (which Diamonds have only themselves to blame for) and that let Garcia through, talking to Bears fan near me, they said same thing happened week before with Garrity and Danny King and Garrity got pushed way wide. Yet again moaning George is on the case - what is all the bad luck he refers to? Robert dropped a chain granted, but the way he wasn't bothered it probably made no difference! Lewis was VERY fortunate to be allowed into rerun of heat 3 he clearly took Wright's front wheel and came from a long way back to do it, Ashley was at fault for his crash, trying to lean on an opponent who was level and passing him. It really is getting irksome that George has to have an excuse or dig when we get beat, as I said hold your hands up Bears deserved it.. .

Maybe he/she/it knows something we don't, interesting that Bridger is omitted from Berwick team list on their own website -

That Nick Morris is going to be a busy chap - does he choose which gate he fancies in heat 13 -
British Semi-finals
Mad Max replied to Fozzie4388's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Wright hates Newcastle, he attended the north press day but didn't ride, his view is I'll ride in club official meetings but nothing else. He would be wasting his time in semi at Newcastle, so I commend him for withdrawing and giving another rider a chance! -

Riders should be getting worried, once "Tinkerman" Rathbone finds out he has points available - changes will be in the offering! Got to get them in early this season -
Ipswich V Peterborough April 15th 7.30pm
Mad Max replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
You should be used to it, Rathbone is the biggest whinger going - just look at the times things haven't gone his way and how the dummy came straight out - the Thorsell (non) signing, the Cook (non) signing, and the final league match at Edinburgh after the cut off date as a few examples - always the "wronged" party never at fault!! -
I'm only saying what a number of Bears fans said during last week's meeting - also he would be cheap. Oh I forgot .... that was the basis of decisions with last years promotion at Redcar
-
Seems odd when he wouldn't have cost a loan fee, and everyone is saying how well he is now going. Could have put him in the shop window and maybe generated some income!

Peterborough V Redcar 09/04/2017.
Mad Max replied to spencebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Lunna is at least as good if not better than BWD around Redcar. Bears however will really miss Perks and Bailey will struggle to produce anywhere near his points return. The match and possibly overall tie could depend on how Garcia goes, overall I can only see panthers as hot favourites now to win -
Visiting Edinburgh & Glasgow
Mad Max replied to Speedball's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I guess Speedball is too polite to ask, but I'm happy to be cheeky! So would there be anyone attending meeting who could give a welcome visitor a lift back to hotel, saves having to book and then get taxi? -
Sheffield V Berwick 6/4/17 Sgbc
Mad Max replied to allthegearbutnaeidea's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
55-37 to the tiggers -
So, on another thread I said our reserves wouldn't beat anyone of note and some replies suggested there weren't any reserves of note out there - outscored 3-8 yesterday and to fair could/should have been 1-10 this by a rider with same experience in league as Phillips and one with even less! Looking round Peterborough's reserve flying, Redcar's two reserves scoring a hatful for other teams on Saturday, Scunthorpe's get 8 at Glasgow (granted had a mare at home), Glasgow's reserve scores 6 - that's before you consider Branford and Riss at Sheffield/Edinburgh. We had better keep fingers crossed that top 5 keep fit and on form
-
I wasn't at Glasgow, so can't comment on actual state of track, or the racing. However in their defence (and other tracks) it is general for early season meetings to produce less exciting racing, a combination of tracks settling down after winter work and weather which can be unpredictable at best leads to track curators giving a more solid track to ride on and these will get better as they get used and prepared over and over again. To all those first timers, give it a chance and revisit in a couple of weeks or so!
-
So a 20 point win - were we good, or Berwick poor, or a mixture? Personally I think it is more down to Berwick being poor and really we should be racking up a much higher win, but I have serious concerns about the make up of our team, to me we are going to struggle if any one of lambert/Worrall/Rose has an off night! I hope to be proved wrong but the reserves will struggle to beat anyone of note, especially away, - Berwick came with three reserve standard riders and they scored 4 points!! Sorry - at the moment its a half empty glass for me!

With announcement that Sam Masters is now an Edinburgh asset, can someone tell me who was he signed from?
-
Maybe you can be enticed you back on 6th April (even if it is a one-off) for challenge match dedicated to Russ Hodgson with the challenging team named the 'Russ Hodgson Select' Plus a junior match with a team representing Sunderland I don't know when a team last rode under the "Sunderland" banner, do you ? Anyway, come on down, I'm sure there will be plenty of fans happy to meet up with you again.
-
Maybe that is the mistake, just seems very odd that neither Newcastle or Scunthorpe have anything scheduled and a day which appears to have no other clashes - just guessing and as I can't see any other date set aside for 4s, and it is around same time as last year I'm putting two and two together - and probably getting 22
-
Wouldn't surprise me to find 16th July is the date they are thinking about for the 4s - but if it is going to be a weekend event then there are two matches on the Saturday plus some Premiership (including Kings Lynn !!!)
-
Having seen fixtures - not sure when the 4s are likely to take place, especially if you want to take a Saturday aswell. I realise there are a number of more important concerns, but do we think anyone is considering planning for this event?
